Chapter 2 - CONFUSION

"AHH—finally," I groaned as I pushed open my dorm room door and collapsed onto my bed.

"Damn… what a fucking day."

The memories from earlier started creeping back in.

"But seriously… what the hell happened?" I muttered. "I remember Luke throwing a party, I went… and then—fuck. Nothing."

I groaned into my pillow.

"Why can't I remember?!"

Time skip

"YO—"

Luke suddenly threw his arm around my shoulders.

"Get the fuck off me," I snapped, shoving him away.

"What the hell's got your panties in a twist?" he shot back sarcastically.

"Oh, I don't know—maybe my asshole of a friend who ditched me after I showed up to his party?" I snapped.

I knew it wasn't really his fault that I woke up naked in some guy's bed… but still. If we'd stuck together like planned, none of that would've happened.

"Relax, bro. I had some business to handle," he said, looking way too proud of himself.

"Ew," I replied. "I don't want to know what ugly girl you hooked up with this time."

"Hey, everyone's beautiful in my eyes, okay? No need to be disrespectful," he said, rolling his eyes. "Besides… it wasn't my usual type."

We walked into our first lecture and took seats in the back row.

The professor started talking, but I couldn't focus.

Not his usual type? What the hell did that mean?

"Luke… Luke… Luke."

"WHAT?" he finally snapped.

"What did you mean earlier—about her not being your type?" I asked, frowning.

"That's why you've been poking me this whole time?" he said, annoyed.

"Just answer the damn question."

"Alright, alright…" he sighed. "Look… I hooked up with a guy last night."

"WHAT?!"

I said it way too loudly.

The professor stopped mid-sentence and glared at us. "One more word and you're both out."

I shrank in my seat.

After that, I couldn't focus at all.

My best friend is gay? No—wait… that doesn't make sense. Luke's the straightest guy I know. He's obsessed with girls. He literally—

What the hell is going on?

The lecture ended, and I was still stuck in my head.

"Yo, Z—"

I flinched when Luke tapped my shoulder.

"Oh, so now we flinch?" he said, clearly annoyed. "Why are you acting like a homophobe? It's 2026, dude—get over it."

"No, wait—Luke, listen—"

But he cut me off.

"Look, I think I'm bisexual, okay? Is that gonna be a problem?"

He looked serious now… and honestly, a little hurt.

I sighed.

"Nah, man. Chill. You're still my boy," I said, patting his shoulder. "I was just caught off guard, that's all. It's not like that."

He studied my face for a second.

"You're still my friend—even if you like dudes," I added with a grin. "Just don't like me."

I flexed jokingly.

"Ew—hell no," he shot back immediately. "Not even if we were the last two people on earth."

"Damn," I laughed. "That hurts."

"Besides…" he added, glancing away, "I think I actually like someone. Have for a while."

"Ohhh," I leaned in. "Is it the guy from last night? Or wait—is it me —"

"Shut the hell up, Z," he snapped, rolling his eyes.

"Alright, alright. So who is it?"

He nodded toward someone who had just walked into the classroom.

"There."

I followed his gaze—

—and my stomach dropped.

No. No way.

It was him.

The same guy I woke up next to this morning.

"Holy shit…"

This is not good.
