Raven would admit that he did deserve some punishment for just skipping off to the fae lands, however being forced to teach magus stuff to idiotic children who are just coming into the world, or know nothing of the other sides, is not fun at all.
Especially not when he had basically all students in Hogwarts attending his opening lecture on magus studies.
"How the hell did they all have a free schedule at this time?" He murmured to himself as even more students kept piling in, the professors also lingering about, because why wouldn't they be at their class and his instead, were enlarging the seating for everyone.
The moment the clock hit noon, he stood up and took on a less laid back pose. His back strengthened out and he stood in the center of the classroom. The room went silent in an instant.
"Welcome everyone, I am Raven Inanis, as you should all know. If you don't know me, then allow me to introduce myself. I am Raven Inanis, Magician of The First True Magic, and Duke of The Faelands. I will be your teacher for the next two years, excluding those of you in your final year." Raven intoned with a small, but stern, smile.
"I will teach you everything you need to know about being a magus. What it means to be proud of your craft, to never stop going beyond what you believe is perfection. I can teach you to weave magic so grand that the stars themselves will shine on you. If this is what you desire, then you are in the right place, if not, then you may find the exit to your right." Raven waved his hand as his magic simmered just outside of his body giving him an ethereal cyan aura.
No one moved.
"Very good." Raven smiled as his aura vanished. "One must have confidence in their craft if they wish to succeed."
"Lesson 101, to be a magus is to walk with death." Raven waved his hand as a whiteboard appeared and wrote that down. Well a floating black marker did anyway.
"As all of you know, casting as a wizard is safe, you can tax your core and suffer from mana exhaustion. You use spells created and tested by others. Those of you who are familiar with spell creating should understand how unsafe it can be, one wrong word, one wrong twitch of the wand, one pronouncement wrong, and it could mean a lost arm, or a spell shot back. It is similar for mages as well." Raven stared at the class.
"For a magus though, they can burn out their circuits. Loose access to their mana, however one can also have it ripped out, stolen from you." Raven smiled coldly at everyone.
"Something to always remember with a magus, most of them are what you would consider a dark wizard. Experimentation. Sabotage. Theft. Murder. Kidnapping. Rape. All par of the course." Raven could remember his first time as he ripped open someone who had slightly interesting abilities and experimented on them.
"Anyways, never let yourself be alone with a magus, not even if you believe them trustworthy." Raven quoted a sentence he read somewhere, some ancient library or something.
Raven looked at everyone, and in the back he could see Albus' amused eyes. Rose's dramatic eye roll. Everyone else seemed slightly horrified. He however was curious to see someone raise their hand with curiosity.
"Go ahead Mr. Anders." Raven nodded his head at the 2nd year Ravenclaw.
"Professor, if the magus are considered as bad as dark wizards, then why aren't they hunted down?" Raven tired really hard to keep a feral grin from appearing on his face.
"A very good question Mr. Andres. It's quite simple. They can't." Raven replied.
"Can't Professor?" Another student asked confused.
"Please raise your hand Ms. Lane, but yes, can't." Raven took a dramatic pause because he felt like it.
"Mages are the ones who are considered to possess the most raw power due to the fact they can safely and constantly grow their power. Wizards are known for their control and sheer versatility in spells. Magus are known for both versatility and power. Perhaps a demonstration." Raven mused with a nod to himself as he waved his hand and created two punching bags.
"Now let's see, Mr. Longbottom why don't you come down and help with this." Raven requested as Neville was given way to come to the front of the large classroom.
"Now I'm sure everyone here has by now learnt how to enhance their strength with magic, be it a spell or through raw magic yes?" Raven asked rhetorically.
"Now then Mr. Longbottom, I want you to enhance yourself as strong as you can and punch the bag. Don't worry, just punch towards the wall." Raven gently guided as he stood behind Neville.
Raven watched as Neville channeled about a quarter of his total magic, admittedly an impressive amount for a wizard, and smiled as the bag was sent flying into the Hogwarts wall and even caused a few cracks to appear before they started being fixed by the rune system.
"Well done Mr. Longbottom. The control you have over your magic is impressive for one so young. You may return to your seat, thank you for your assistance." Raven waited till he returned to his seat before he vanished the first bag and gestured to the second.
"Now, I will demonstrate the spell known as reinforcement, it's one of the three basic spells known by all magus, I will use the same amount of energy as Mr. Longbottom did and punch the bag." Raven let his hand glow with the visible sign of reinforcement before he smashed his fist into it.
The bag soared through the wall and through another ten before stopping at a twelfth that it almost passed through as well.
It was only then did he remember he needed to hold back his natural strength a lot more to normal human levels, oops.
'Shit play it off!' Raven didn't let any of his panic show on his face.
"As you can see, it showed much greater results, of course such results can vary based on the person as some do experiment on themselves and have much greater baseline physical strength then others. Now let me demonstrate the results of the same strength Mr. Longbottom used." Raven created another bag and punched it, this time it only went through three walls.
He felt the eyes of Rose and Albus on him, as well as the twins, who were all staring at him with amusement, they knew damn well he had forgotten to hold back all the way.
"Now, one final lesson before I dismiss everyone. What is considered dark." Raven asked, but it was a rhetorical question.
"Let us take the organ boiling curse. A curse that does as its name implies. Boils organs inside the body into liquid." Raven held his coffee mug out from his desk.
"My coffee is cold, now I could just cast a heating charm on it no? It would be the sensible thing to do, however, what if instead I use that curse?" Raven waved his wand and wandlessly cast the spell. His coffee started bubbling and he took a sip.
"My coffee is now boiling hot, but it achieved the effect I wanted. Now can anyone tell me what the point of that lesson was?" Raven asked as a few students raised their hand.
"Go ahead Mr. Vandelz."
"Intent, sir."
"Well said, 10 points to Hufflepuff." Raven clapped as he vanished his coffee, it tasted like shit. "Magic is just like life, intent."
"For example, back in the very old days, before it became a forbidden spell for wizards, the killing curse was used in hospitals to painlessly put down dying patients. To put down sick animals. It is all about intent." Raven smiled at everyone.
"Remember that, life is all about intent. If you don't have intent, then everything is purposeless." Raven finished with a dramatic paused at the end.
"Now for homework I want everyone to write a two page essay on the history of the founding of the clocktower." Raven smiled before dismissing the class and vanishing, along with his familiar egg wrapped in illusions floating besides him to appear invisible.

We're back, it's time, this arc has a exciting 27 chapters, we'll 26 now, a good chunk of them action packed. However it might not go as expected.
Also sorry for the short chapter, I just wanted to start it out with Raven teaching, which for him is a fitting punishment. He enjoys teaching a small group like Rose and the twins, but such a large group would be punishment for him as an anti-social person and fae.
So yeah, it's time for me to getting writing this story properly again. This arc does contain some exciting chapters in waiting.
[105] [107] [108] [109] [118] [121] [127]
Anyways, until next chapter!
Bye~
