It appeared overnight.
A new mirror, tall and thin, stitched into the wall outside the Dream Lab. No one had seen it installed. No one had approved it. It wasn't listed in the school's architecture scrolls.
But it pulsed.
And it reflected things that hadn't happened.
The First Glimpse
Lyra passed it on her way to class.
It showed her standing in the Velvet Atrium, surrounded by students — speaking, leading, glowing.
She blinked.
Then it changed.
It showed her alone, in the fifth tower, crying.
Maris joined her. "It's showing futures."
Lyra whispered, "Or choices."
The Others
Nova Quinn saw themselves dancing through a burning hallway, laughter echoing.
Zephyr Vale saw a cracked mirror and his own face stitched with Calyx's tears.
Cassian Thorn saw himself holding the book — but it was blank.
Juno Blaze saw nothing.
Corvin Dusk saw everything.
The Theory
They gathered in the Whisper Theatre.
Nova spoke first. "It's not a mirror. It's a memory waiting to happen."
Zephyr nodded. "It's choosing which thread to pull."
Maris frowned. "Then it's not showing truth."
Lyra whispered, "It's showing temptation."
The Test
They returned to the mirror.
Each stitched one stood before it, one by one.
Lyra asked, "What happens if we reject what it shows?"
The mirror shimmered.
Then it cracked.
A single word appeared across its surface:
> "Rewrite."
The Book Again
Back in the dorm, the book pulsed violently.
New ink appeared:
> "The mirror remembers tomorrow. But tomorrow is stitched from today's defiance."
Maris whispered, "It's not prophecy."
Lyra nodded. "It's permission."
