The moment that the car was parked both men climbed out the vehicle lost in their own thoughts .
" Why do you think the chief is calling for our presences this time ? "
Jack murmured heavily a bit frightened at the thought but still kept straight expression
" Not for any promotion that I know of "
Paul commented form the side only to receive a disapproving look which he ignores
" You know what am saying is nothing but the truth, if he truely was a chief then maybe we would have enough funds to clean up this place "
Both their eyes look around the old building which felt more like an abaonden morgue then a police station .
With old spoiled car's by the side of the parking lot and spilled oil by the side Paul could only shook his head disappointed
" I doubt he will "
Jack murmured heavily but still move forward being followed behind by Paul with mixed feeling .
( Inside the building )
The moment both walked in their eyes soon fall on two of their newest recurits
" Sir !! "
Both stood from the post saluting both Paul and jack who chuckle noticing their new iron uniforms
" No need for being formal by the way did you by chance know when the chief will be coming ? "
Jack asked in a joking manner only to receive a no from both ,
Which wasn't that a surprise for both Paul and jack understanding they were going to be the one waiting .

Paul commented from the sides walking passed them into the main office alongside with jack noticing their smiles from the compliments
" Kid's ! "
Paul murmured with a smile remembering how naive and carefree he was back then when he was also new .
" Trust me within a weak or two they will be regretting why they were posted here "
Jack added standing right in front of his desk so as Paul who nodded looking around the small but wide which was enough for eight of them .
" I doubt the chief will be here any minutes "
Jack informed taking his seat as he study the set of new files on his desk so as Paul who frowned .
" These are new files what happened to the ones we left "
He murmured heavily checking his set of other files but to no avail .
" What's going on did someone take out the files or what ? "
Jack murmured angrily grinding his teeth checking through his laptop only to discover that his spare files were also deleted
" The only ones here were the new recruits "
Jack murmured loudly eyes locked out the entrance
" Victor ! Peter ! "
He called out only to hear hurried footsteps approaching
" Yes sir ! "
Both saluted with a serious expression
" When both I and Paul were out did anyone come in here ? "
Jack asked with a strict voice Only for the two to swallow hard
" Well sir the chief people came today "
Victor murmured heavily but mostly scared for the fact that they might have done something wrong .
" What time ? "
Paul asked irritated by his words
" about three hours ago "
Peter reported head down understanding they both were in trouble
" The chief people why didn't you both stop them ? "
Paul calmly asked only for Victor to shook his head
" We indeed try but they called the chief who threatened us that he was going to fire us if they were not let through "
Victor managed to explained head down in shame
" What exactly did they took ? "
Paul asked while logging into he's only to found gone as well grinding his teeth in frustration
" Well not much but some certain files "
peter noted with a frown but soon smile in proudness
" But don't worry I didn't let them took them all "
Victor soon nodded approaching an old desk by the window checking through some old boxes ,
before bringing out two rough files which was squeeze roughly catching both their attention
" When they were taking the other stuff I and Peter were able to grab two from the file cabinet without them knowing "
Victor said handing the file to jack who scenes each page with mixed expression before passing it unto Paul
who did the same but soon hissed in frustration slapping it on his desk startling both Victor and Peter whom swollen hard in fear .
" You both go back to your post "
It was more than a command then a request but was still obeyed with a nod by two of the receipt understanding their fault
" It seems like we won't be expecting him either way "
Paul murmured heavily to himself rubbing his head in a headache
" If he wanted us to drop the case he would have say so, but him coming here to erase something we all worked hard for has gone a bit far
even though he's a chief he have no reason nor right in doing such things "
Jack complained with a sigh not surprised
" We don't have time to linger on such matter it's very important we focus ahead this case , this time we aren't going to stop Midway just like the rest "
Paul stated catching jack attention who sighed but nodded
" Where can we start ? I mean if you noticed all the evidence had been taken away even the two extra files we now have turned out to be totally useless "
Jack voice out his frustration before he could say more the continuous ringing of Paul phone attracted both men
" Answer ! "
Jack urged Paul who sighed checking on the caller ID to discover it was no other than Mia .

Meanwhile at the hospital Mia frowned her eyebrows at Moses who stood boldly his eyes deep and his lips curve into that of a mocking smile
" Moses I think it's better you cooperate with us "
She warned strictly to receive an eye roll from Moses who was still dressed causally in one of the patient attire looking hagged and tired from a long stressful day
" Aren't you tired following me around ? "
He hissed in annoyance eyes lock on Mia deep brown eyes who shook her head
" It's our duty to protect both you and the victim "
She said proudly to receive a chuckle
" I doubt your service is needed around me, besides point of correction your job is to protect Leo not me "
" Even we don't wish to watch over someone whose main aim is to frustrate the police on every case
but unfortunately for the both of us we are bond to fulfil our duty as police officers and officer Paul has given us the order of protecting both you and the victim "
Moses couldn't help but roll his eyes tightening his grip on his phone which caught Mia eyes
" Who were you talking to just few minutes ago ? "
She asked suspiciously being tag by her fellow officer to stop Only for her to ignore
" I think it's best you show us for protocol reasons "
She voiced out not ready to back down
" If am not mistaken are you trying to accused me in being a suspect "
He asked softly his sharp eyes glared at Mia who simply smirk at his words
" Of course not we are just doing our job in protecting both you and the victim after all you were a very important witness yourself
That's why it's very important we are cautious in everything we do, but if you feel a bit uncomfortable then we apologize for our treatment,
however it's still important we still check on who you call few minutes ago "
She replied simply her eyes firm and unmoving which made Moses chuckle tossing the phone at her which surprised her a little
" What are you staring at aren't you going to check ? "
Moses reminded Mia who. Quickly turned on the phone discovering it was locked her blood boil in annoyance .
" Is this a sick joke to you ? "
She warned her voice deepen with every word
" Cause not am indeed serious "
He replied with an irritating smile allowing Mia to frown the more
" As you said as a witness, protecting my safety is as important as protecting my phone since we don't know if any evidence might be presented in it .
but most importantly as a criminal lawyer I do know that it's against the law to search a witness phone without proper permission which of course you didn't and if am not mistaken you can be sued by the witness for misuse of authority and harassment but am quite sure we shouldn't dive deeper into that or shall we ? "
He asked rather calmly which made her grind her teeth understanding every warning behind each sentence
" Finally understanding Paul hostility towards someone like him "
She thought while handing out the phone unable to hold back her anger .
" At least answer the question ? "
She asked warning her eyes dim from every smile
" No one actually I was just sending a voicemail to a client of mine "
He added lazily eyes lock on Mia who wanted to ask more but was interrupted by precious gentle voice

Moses asked a bit surprised noticing a big handbag by her side
" Hmm I couldn't stay put knowing leo was still here but "
She paused her eyes scanning both Mia and her partner in hostility which made Mia a bit uncomfortable

" When I got home last night I had received a call from my ex - boyfriend William threatening me to bring him some cash ,or he was going to do the same to leo if I wanted to see him again "
She informed her tears dripping.
" It turned out to be my ex boyfriend is the culprit I feel terribly ashamed of myself "
" It was all my fault if I didn't ask leo to pretend to be my boyfriend that day when William continuous demands of money became too much,
I wish I knew this was going to happen I would have done something to stop it "
She sob silently whispering her frustration out while sobbing feeling the comfort of Moses who place an arm on her shoulder
" Have you informed the police yet "
He asked only to receive a no reply for a while
" No sir you asked me not to since the culprit has been found I think the police help can be useful "
She voice out with a thin of hope
" I think not precious don't you feel this story is a bit strange ?
if you ask me I think the culprit haven't been found but he or she is trying to shove the blame on someone else "
" I don't quite follow sir I mean William had confessed and I managed to record our conversation isn't that good news ? The culprit will be caught and leo will be safe "
She stammered at the last part
" Precious you are worried so as i, am not trying to delay time , am just pinpointing the loopholes,
if you have noticed which you haven't on the day you both were attacked why wasn't any single security seen even with the loud shouts and scream no body came to our aid "
He reminded precious who frowned upon thinking about it
" You are right no security was found in sight we were only there no one else which was a bit strange "
She murmured heavily under her breath
" I over heard from one of security guard who was informing a cop about something involving the footage not being recorded "
She quickly added which surprised Moses a little noticing his stare she further explain
" after the phone call I couldn't sit still, I wanted at least have a stronger evidence that will be able to put that bastard in jail but ended up finding nothing "
" This is all strange I think there is more to it than meets the eye if we hurry to arrest your boyfriend we might miss something much more bigger "

She corrected with a frown which Moses ignore his eyes focusing on Mia who stood distance away eyes lock on them both
" So you are saying the culprit is not William ? "
She asked wanting to be sure
" That I don't know for sure but there's still 50 percentage chance that he might be involved but for now I will like to talk to him maybe I might be able to drill some words out of him "
He said coolly which startled precious
" You mean threaten him but isn't that a against the law if others find out then - - - "
She whispered a bit scared for Moses who shook amused by precious innocence
" I Will just throw some light words to him no need to worry is not like am going to strip him on a chair or something when am in a cast"
He joked with a fake smile which made her sigh in relief
" Sir you seem so sure that it might be something else, do you have any suspect in mind ? "
She asked seriously only for Moses to nod thinking about Henry and his threatening words
" Just one person but you don't need to know I will handle the situation.

She replied truthfully her eyes gazed at him for permission to further ask more which she did

She whispered softly her eyes soften which made Moses a bit confused on the sudden change of mood

He asked eyes locked on hers whom expression was filled with gratitude towards him , something he suddenly felt guilty for
" I don't know what would have happened if you didn't arrive in time and for that am truly thankful to you "
He said coolly her voice thin but warm
" I don't think it's necessary to say those words after all I should be apologizing to you and leo "

She exclaimed softly totally confused
" If I didn't force you both to leave then none of this would have happened leo would be fine and you wouldn't have to go through that "
As soon as those words came out both fail silence one looking guilty while the other looking more guilty
" Why blame yourself it wasn't like you knew that was going to happen, so you don't have to feel responsible for whatever is happening ,
the one who should feel guilty should be I due to the fact that Leo took the hit for me make me feel fully responsible for whatever is happening "
She sighed her shoulder down and her eyes dim made her seem lifeless just thinking about leo condition
" It wasn't your fault so don't blame yourself leo won't be happy if he hears what you say "
Moses console precious who nodded remembering leo stare and leacture which never seem to end but yet she truely miss his yelling
" I will make sure to put the culprit in jail so don't worry "
He assured her with some few words only for she to sigh in gladness
" However it's really important I speak with this ex boyfriend of yours if you don't mind ? "
He asked carefully to receive a nod
" I really don't mind I will be grateful but not now I left my phone at a charger point to charge but I will send it to you later "
She assured Moses who nodded in understanding
" Its better I get going now am quite sure aunt ( leo mom ) must be hungry "
She said taking few steps forward before gazing back at Moses who hiss in pain supporting the cooler with his free hand passing through the some few passerby
