He hitched Ash higher on his back, and he went to the Guild.
Going to it was the easy part. Getting into it was the problem.
There were red uniforms all the way round the building. He counted fourteen groups of three, standing a few steps apart, every one of them facing the walls. One of them had a fly walking across his cheek.
"Why aren't they attacking?" Ash whispered in his ear.
"I don't know."
'They were told to keep the Guild in,' Luna said. 'Look at their feet, Lexie. All pointing inwards. I don't think anybody told them to keep a boy out.'
'You don't THINK?'
'Do you have a better plan? You have less than one point of Magic and a hole in your leg.'
He didn't have a better plan. He had a worse one, which was to stand here until he fell over.
'Risk it for the...' He couldn't finish it. 'Fine. Going.'
He walked out of the trees.
