Billy Inkos was a guard here. Nobody was making him do it.
'The Inkos family,' Alex thought. 'The flag. The cafeteria. Beaver. Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me.'
'The tap, Lexie.'
He hadn't even noticed it had gone. He got the drip going again and lay flat in the grass, and he watched.
Billy worked his way down the row. He didn't hurry. He kicked a farmhand over, and waited for him to sit up, and kicked him over again. He took the hat off an old man and put it on his own head. He stood in front of the girl in the duck pyjamas and ate his chicken leg at her, slowly, and dropped the bone in her lap.
"Tch."
Alex's fingers dug into the grass.
'Billy boy. You absolute... You're doing this for FUN. There's nobody in your head. You're just like this.'
'Some people are,' Luna said. 'Watch.'
Then the tent flap opened again, and the other one came out.
