"Cas. Tle," said Kanos carefully, in human, pointing west.
They both looked at him.
"I said it about thirty times this afternoon," Selina admitted. "He was asking."
Kanos beamed at both of them, and pointed west again, in case they had missed it.
"Cas. Tle."
"Yes, buddy," said Alex. "Castle. Very good."
'He's going to say it all night,' he thought. 'He's going to say it in his sleep, and I'm going to have to listen.'
Selina sat down on a root, and for a while she didn't say anything. She had the spear across her knees. She kept turning it round, slowly, so the X caught the light from the far-off fire.
"If Arthur's there," she said at last.
"Then we get him out."
"He's Rank 4, kid. He was my best. If he's wearing red, he's going to come at me with everything I ever taught him, and I'm not going to be able to hurt him back." She stopped turning the spear. "I don't know if I can do it."
