It's not that this thing wasn't sturdy enough; mainly, the vampire wielding the twin blades went berserk. The divine artifact in the mortal realm is one of the most solid things, shaken only by equal strength. When it appears, it basically signifies that two gods are using their chosen warriors for a remote confrontation.
Unfortunately, the vampire had no god.
But the fortunate part was that Murphy didn't need help from a god. Although Elder Sister Kulkan was very willing to lend her divine power to Murphy, the premise was that the vampire wouldn't be burned to death by the solar fire infused into his body.
