Chapter 36 - Tokyo War Arc Episode 10: Approaching Showdown

North of Metropolitan Tokyo, Itabashi City.

"Help!-"

"D-Dont hurt me!"

"Run away!- Villains are here!"

Crowds of civilians hurried across the streets as monstrous villains chased them behind. Their screams and cries echoed; a resounding terror pervaded the air.

Behind these escaping people were criminals whose hideous grins ran across their faces. They enjoyed the horror of the civilians as it gave them pleasure.

For the first time in their pathetic lives, they stood above society without retribution. It was the most addictive kind of freedom.

"Don't let me reach you, insects! Kekekeke-!"

A rock-hard villain bellowed while chasing after a mother and her daughter. When the little girl tripped onto the sidewalk, his grin widened.

Fear consumed the mother's eyes when she noticed the wrist of her daughter leaving her palm. Immediately, she bolted towards her child, using her body as a shield.

The villain merely chuckled, pleased as his rock-hard body was about to pounce towards the mother.

But before he could reach them, a resounding bang echoed through the streets as he froze on the spot. Crimson bled from his forehead as he collapsed to the ground, unmoving.

In a single instant, the monster that was about to make them suffer in horrendous ways was executed.

The mother felt her body tremble as the wind whistled behind. She steadily turned her head, eyes ripe with tears.

Standing beside the corpse of the rock-hard villain was a black-suited lady whose purple hair danced with the breeze.

Noticing the mother's gaze, the black-suited lady smiled and gestured with calm.

"Miss, you should evacuate from the area. Villains are currently roaming nearby."

Afterward, they were pointed in the evacuation zone, prompting the mother to nod in relief and grab her daughter.

Along the way, the little girl looked at the black-suited, purple-haired lady and asked with an innocent smile. Her eyes were warm and pure.

"Are you a hero?"

"I am not a heroine, but I do save people."

The little girl felt her fluffy hair ruffled by the black-suited lady and pouted. Though she paused and looked at her hero.

"Do you have a name?"

"Yes, I do... You can call me Nagant."

Lady Nagant wasn't against entertaining children, as it made what she had done worth it. For their future, she was willing to do anything.

"Thank you for saving us, Lady Nagant."

The mother bowed, grateful for their savior, before dragging her daughter away towards the evacuation zone.

After the two became blurry shadows in the distance, Lady Nagant glanced at her pale palm. It was the palm that patted the little girl's head.

Beforehand, when she worked for the Hero Public Safety Commission, her former self would have never dared to touch children.

She considered herself someone stained with blood, too dirty for the little ones to touch. But perhaps she changed after meeting her master.

Hiding in some alleyway a couple of streets ahead was another villain. He managed to avoid the onslaught of the executioner, barely hiding himself amongst the trash cans.

However, before he could celebrate his survival, Lady Nagant aimed her rifle-like arm and fired. The bullet arced, hitting the concealed villain in the forehead.

"That should be the last one in this part of Tokyo."

As her arm returned to its original form, she turned her attention towards the south. Downtown Tokyo was where the Symbol of Evil stood.

Without a doubt, her master would be confronting All for One with All Might. But the question remains. Will Lady Makima win? Or will she lose?

"Shinjuku District... I can feel the destruction."

Lady Nagant took a deep breath and recalled her master's answer to that simple question. Her lips curved into a subtle smile.

'Nah, I'd win.'

Meanwhile...

South of Metropolitan Tokyo, Meguro City.

A group of villains surrounded a walking polar bear who wore a black suit. Hesitation riddled their faces as they remembered what it had done to their fellow criminals.

Konrad felt bored after fighting with the same weaklings over and over again. It seems that most villains running amok were feeble criminals.

But perhaps it was for the best, as stronger villains would have destroyed most of Tokyo with remarkable ease.

"Comrades... Why don't you fight back?"

He squinted his eyes while the villains felt their spines instinctively shiver. Unfortunately for them, the black-suited polar bear had been given orders.

All of them had to die.

Without waiting for them to make a move, Konrad charged and punched a villain into the ground. His head was smashed into his body as blood splattered everywhere.

"Eeeekkk!!!"

The criminals were disgusted by how one of theirs died. Most of all, fear consumed their hearts, as they were unable to move against the polar bear.

After punching and slamming every villain nearby to death, blood dripped across Konrad's pale fur. Corpses surrounded him alongside pools of crimson blood.

Taking a bottle of vodka from his black suit, Konrad took a quick drink and burped. A smile captured his face while he cracked his neck.

"These should be the last ones in this part of Tokyo."

Unlike the heroes who were busy capturing the villains and cooperating with authorities, the Counter Division executed them on the spot.

It was efficient since it had no downtime.

For this simple reason, Lady Nagant and Konrad could handle areas themselves without breaking a sweat.

Out of nowhere, the earth rumbled, almost making the black-suited polar bear drop his bottle of vodka.

Konrad raised his eyebrows and looked in the direction from which the quake originated. It was north, situated where the Symbol of Evil lay.

Taking a deep breath, the polar bear returned his bottle of vodka to whence it came from and tidied his black suit.

"Lady Makima and Lady Nagant are working hard. I shouldn't be idle."

He turned his attention to Setagaya. It was quite a distance away, but better than bothering his superiors.

Besides, he also heard about a good cafe over there.

As members of the Counter Division followed their leader's directive, the circumstances within Shibuya Crossing were dire. Buildings were pummeled while streets were shattered.

Makima stood amidst the cloud of dust, her hypnotic golden eyes intently focused on the Symbol of Evil whose regeneration seemed unequaled.

A second firing execution was useless regardless of the range. Even if All for One's head was blown off, he was able to regenerate smoothly.

However, it wasn't without its price.

Her supple lips curved into an arrogant smile as she tilted her head and mocked with a gentle tone.

"Fighting an old feeble man with tumors sprouting throughout his body. I feel bad at the thought alone."

She shook her head in faux pity, her ridicule piercing through the Symbol of Evil's prideful heart.

All for One's extreme regeneration had a cost. It was uncontrolled, which meant that every instantaneous recovery wouldn't be perfect.

Cells weren't optimized to be perpetually duplicated. For each regeneration, there were mistakes, and these faults stacked upon one another.

It was a matter of time until the Symbol of Evil's body became a giant cancerous tumor. The thought alone was horrifying for normal humans.

But the Control Devil thought of it as a deserved fate for the supervillain.

Her words were clearly heard by All for One, echoing into his mind as though reminding him of how weak he had become.

The Symbol of Evil's right arm swelled as he levitated from the ground and commanded his sole loyal pet.

"Nomu, kill the civil servant."
