Pushing the dark thoughts back inside, Adam gently picked Valerian up and placed him on his shoulders.
The little fellow did not know about the strings puppeteering them from the dark. Neither did he know about Phillipe's insidious attack just a few moments ago. He did not need to know any of them.
As his elder brother, it was Adam's duty to shield him from the dangers of the world.
"Brother! Brother!" the little fellow beamed. "These clothes look very pretty. I think they will suit you."
"About time I wore some proper clothes," said Adam as he wore nothing but a pair of loose trousers and the hide of a werewolf sprawled across his shoulders.

The base layer, the inner robe, was black in color and made from exceptionally fine material. It was soft to touch yet sturdy, its dark fabric carrying a subtle sheen beneath the light.
