Chapter 426 - Waves

Lucas took a deep breath, allowing himself a moment of relief. He had finally done it. He had proposed to Jennifer, and she had said yes. It was a moment he had been anticipating for so long, but had always been tinged with worry.

Worry about the enemies he had made, the dangers that lurked in the shadows of his success. But now, in the aftermath of this perfect night, those worries seemed to fade away.

As he sat there, lost in thought, a familiar face appeared. Felicity Jones, his co-star from "Like Crazy", was being led towards him by a staff member.

"Felicity!" Lucas exclaimed, surprise and delight coloring his voice as he stood to greet her. "I didn't know you were here tonight."

Felicity smiled, but there was a hint of melancholy in her eyes. "Of course I'm here, Lucas. I've always been a fan of your music, ever since our days on set together."

Lucas paused, casting his mind back. She was right. Throughout the filming of "Like Crazy", Felicity had always been there, listening to him play, offering encouragement and praise. The memory brought a smile to his face.

"Thank you, Felicity," he said sincerely. "That means a lot, truly."

Meanwhile, in the VIP section, Jennifer was still riding the high of the proposal. She sat beside Taylor Swift, her smile seemingly permanently etched on her face.

Taylor turned to her, her own face alight with joy. "Jennifer, I'm so incredibly happy for you and Lucas. Congratulations!"

Jennifer nodded, her smile growing even wider. "Thank you, Taylor. I can't quite believe it myself."

Taylor sighed, a hint of wistfulness in her voice. "I have to admit, I'm a little envious. The love that you and Lucas share... it's the kind of love people dream about."

Jennifer reached out, squeezing Taylor's hand. "Hey, don't forget who you are. You're Taylor Swift. You've got the world at your feet."

"I know, I know," Taylor said, shaking her head. "Fame, fortune, all of that. But none of it compares to what you and Lucas have. That kind of genuine, deep love."

Jennifer's expression softened. "Taylor, I have no doubt that you'll find that kind of love too. Someone who will love you for you, not for your fame or your success. Just like Lucas loves me."

Taylor smiled, genuine appreciation in her eyes. "Thank you, Jennifer. That means more than you know."

Their conversation was interrupted by the approach of Leonardo DiCaprio. He greeted both women warmly, offering Jennifer a congratulatory kiss on the cheek.

"Never thought I'd see the day," he joked. "Lucas Knight, off the market for good. I always thought guys like us were destined to be eternal bachelors."

Jennifer and Taylor exchanged a look, then spoke in unison. "Lucas isn't like you, Leo."

Leonardo blinked, taken aback by the dual response. Jennifer, he had expected. But Taylor too? The two women seemed just as surprised by their synchronicity.

Leonardo held up his hands in mock surrender, chuckling. "Okay, okay, I was just kidding around."

Jennifer and Taylor shared a smile. "So were we, Leo. No worries," Jennifer assured him.

As the trio continued to chat, the arena slowly emptied around them. A few straggling fans remained, watching in awe as Jennifer interacted with the other celebrities. But soon enough, even they were gently ushered out by the staff.

In the VIP section, Jennifer was greeted by a stream of well-wishers. Vanessa Bryant, Kobe's wife, and their daughter Gigi were among the first to reach her, offering warm hugs and heartfelt congratulations.

Moments later, Lucas appeared, and he wasn't alone. Walking beside him was a familiar face that brought an immediate sparkle to Jennifer's eyes.

"Felicity?" Jennifer exclaimed, rising to greet her friend.

Felicity Jones, her smile wide and genuine, embraced Jennifer tightly. "It's been far too long, Jen. I've missed you."

Jennifer returned the hug with equal warmth. "I know, I'm sorry. Time just seems to slip away."

Felicity pulled back, a playful glint in her eye. "Well, I suppose I can forgive you. Being one half of Hollywood's hottest couple must keep you busy. I'm just the third wheel now," she teased.

"Oh, stop it!" Jennifer laughed, swatting at Felicity's arm. "You know that's not true."

As the two friends caught up, Leonardo, Taylor, and the Bryants took turns congratulating Lucas. The group fell into easy conversation, the camaraderie and shared joy palpable.

But soon enough, the night's excitement began to catch up with them. One by one, they said their goodbyes, promising to catch up properly soon. Lucas and Jennifer watched them go, hands intertwined, savoring the quiet moment together.

The following morning, the shockwaves from Lucas's on-stage proposal were felt around the world.

Every major news outlet, both in the US and internationally, led with the story. The footage of Lucas dropping to one knee, the glittering ring, Jennifer's tearful acceptance - it was played on a loop, dissected and discussed by countless pundits and entertainment reporters.

On E! News, anchor Giuliana Rancic could barely contain her excitement as she introduced the segment.

"In a move that shocked and delighted fans worldwide, Hollywood heartthrob and EGOT winner Lucas Knight proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence, during his sold-out concert last night. We go now to our correspondent at the scene, Jason Kennedy. Jason, tell us, what was it like to witness this incredible moment?"

The feed cut to Jason, standing outside the Staples Center, a massive crowd of fans still milling about behind him.

"Giuliana, it was absolutely electric," he reported, his grin stretching from ear to ear. "I've been to a lot of concerts, but I've never seen anything like this. The love, the energy, the sheer shock when Lucas got down on one knee - it was like something out of a movie."

The screen filled with shaky fan footage of the proposal, the audio a cacophony of screams and cheers. Giuliana and Jason continued to gush over the details - the ring, the reactions, the implications for the couple's future.

On social media, the frenzy was even more intense. Lucas's name was trending on every platform - Twitter, Facebook, Vine. Clips of his performances, both the musical numbers and the proposal, racked up millions of views within hours.

Amid the excitement, one detail in particular stood out to many: the announcement that Lucas and Taylor would be donating the majority of their earnings from the concert to various charities. This revelation only added to the outpouring of love and respect for the two stars.

"Not only did they give us the performance of a lifetime, but they're using their success to help others. We don't deserve Lucas Knight and Taylor Swift 😭❤️" one fan tweeted, earning tens of thousands of likes and retweets.

But of course, it was the proposal itself that sent the internet into a full-blown meltdown.

"I WAS THERE. I SAW IT HAPPEN. I WILL NEVER RECOVER." one all-caps tweet screamed, accompanied by a shaky video of the fateful moment.

"The way Jennifer covered her mouth, the tears in her eyes... I felt that in my SOUL," another fan posted, alongside a series of sobbing emojis.

"Today, we witnessed a fairytale come to life. Congratulations, Lucas and Jennifer. You've given us all a reason to believe in love again. 💍💕" read one particularly poetic tweet.

As the day wore on, the Internet's collective joy showed no signs of abating. Fan art, video edits, and lengthy think-pieces about the couple's journey filled every corner of the web.

It was clear that, in one incredible night, Lucas and Jennifer had not only cemented their status as Hollywood royalty - they had become a symbol of love itself. A reminder that, even in a world often filled with darkness and cynicism, true romance could still light the way.

In a prison cell far from the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles, Harvey Weinstein sat in front of a small television. As the news of Lucas's proposal to Jennifer filled the screen, his face contorted with rage.

"That smug bastard," he snarled, his fists clenching. "Thinks he's untouchable now, does he?"

His cellmate, a burly man with a face full of tattoos, glanced over. "What's your problem with that Lucas guy anyway?"

Harvey just shook his head, his eyes never leaving the screen. "He's the reason I'm in here. And one day, he'll pay for it."

Miles away, in the Knight family home, Vince and Myla were having a similar reaction, though for very different reasons.

"Can you believe this?" Myla scoffed, gesturing at the TV. "He couldn't even bother to tell us he was proposing. We had to find out like everyone else, watching the news."

Vince grunted, his eyes hard. "He made his choice a long time ago, Myla. We're not his family anymore, remember?"

But even as he said the words, a flicker of something - regret, perhaps, or longing - passed over his face. He quickly looked away, focusing intently on his drink.

In contrast, at the Cavendish estate, William was beside himself with joy. He had been trying to reach Lucas all morning, his messages increasingly effusive.

"My dear boy, congratulations! This is wonderful news! We must start planning immediately. The Cavendish estate would be the perfect venue for the wedding. And of course, you'll need a proper suit. I know just the tailor..."

Lucas, inundated with messages and still reeling from the events of the night before, could barely keep up. But he couldn't suppress a smile at his grandfather's enthusiasm.

Back online, the internet was in full celebration mode. Vine was flooded with memes and short video clips, each one funnier than the last.

One popular meme showed Lucas's face photoshopped onto a knight in shining armor, kneeling before a princess Jennifer. "When you finally unlock the 'Happily Ever After' achievement," the caption read.

Another featured a series of screenshots from the proposal, zooming in on Jennifer's shocked face. "When he pulls out a ring instead of a prenup," it joked.

But amidst the humor, there was an undercurrent of genuine admiration and respect. Lucas's Twitter following continued to soar, breaking records with each passing hour.

"Forget the royal wedding," one tweet read. "The Knight-Lawrence nuptials are going to be the event of the century."

Even Mark Zuckerberg got in on the action, posting a playful message on his own page. "Hey Lucas Knight, any chance I can convince you to bring some of that magic to Facebook or Instagram? We could use a fairytale ending over here too!"

But it wasn't just the proposal making waves. The music video for "Despacito", featuring a prominent appearance by Lucas, had dropped on Luis Fonsi's channel. Within an hour, it had racked up millions of views.
