Chapter 563 - Ch 589 - The Room of Requirement

"Okay," he gave in, his voice carrying a soft, rare warmth as he pressed his lips to her forehead once again; he secretly didn't want this beautiful moment to end either. "A few more minu—"

He was cut off as the dark sky began to downpour, heavy rain coming down harshly across the Black Lake as if on cue. Thunder boomed loudly in the distance, the autumn storm activating in fury as strong winds whipped the raindrops around in frantic circles.

"We should head inside now," Lucifer laughed. Now soaked to the skin, he stood up from the wooden edge, pulling Hermione to her feet along with him. The two laughed together as they ran through the rain back to the castle, the cold breeze creeping up their wet skin.

There was thunder again, loud as ever, as they finally reached the castle grotto of twinkling fairy lights. With their hands tightly interlocked, Lucifer led the way towards the grand oak doors, but he was suddenly confused to feel a sharp, heavy tug back on his arm.

As he stopped his stride and turned back around, he was utterly surprised when a pair of soft lips fell passionately straight on his.

Taking a second to process the sudden warmth, Lucifer tightly wrapped his long hands around Hermione's waist as they snogged mindlessly right there in the pouring rain.

Heavy drops of rain fell upon their flushed faces, but they didn't seem to mind the chill in the slightest. Lucifer could've sworn his heart was pounding louder than the booming thunder in the distance.

The primal lust for love was embedded in the storm air as Hermione deepened the kiss, her small fingers running wildly through his wet hair.

Rain poured down on top of them; their wet school clothes were clinging tightly to their bodies, their soaked hair was clinging to their faces, but their bodies were clinging perfectly closely to one another. They were kissing like they were intensely envious of the individual raindrops falling from each other's lips... with absolutely no care whatsoever about the cold air cutting through their skin, as passion of their kiss had the power to light a 'fire' deep inside of them.

They separated only when they were left gasping for air, the heavy rain soaking them entirely as they rested their foreheads softly against one another. Lucifer's eyes remained tightly closed for a long second after they pulled away, thoroughly shocked by the overwhelming, electrical sensation he felt in that current moment; it felt exactly like a beautiful dream.

If you believe perfection isn't real, kiss the love of your life in the pouring rain and I'm sure you'll change your mind.

"Was that as your movies imagined it?" Lucifer asked softly, opening his eyes to gaze into her brown ones.

"No," Hermione hummed in pure content, a brilliant smile breaking across her face wider than ever before. "It was so much better."

"I'm glad," he whispered, leaning down to place a soft kiss on her wet cheek before pulling her towards the heavy door again as the storm raged on behind them. The two of them were smiling like a couple of 'love-sick' teenagers as they walked back inside the Hogwarts castle, trailing long streams of water through the flagstone halls.

The entire school was succumbed to a heavy silence, as it was well past midnight by now, and everyone had seemingly gone to sleep long ago.

Hermione and Lucifer tried to sneak their way back up to the Gryffindor Tower without making a single sound, but they came to a sudden halt in the corridor with the Fat Lady portrait when they caught sight of Mrs. Norris waiting for them in the dark.

Panicking slightly, the two Prefects locked eyes with the glowing pupils of the cat, knowing very well that wherever Mrs. Norris was patrolling, Argus Filch wasn't too far behind her.

"Oh, shit," Lucifer muttered under his breath; beside him, Hermione visibly tensed. Thinking quickly, he pulled his girlfriend back towards the marble stairs, his grip tight on her wrist. "Come on."

They could hear the rapid, sharp pattering of Mrs. Norris's paws on the stone floor behind them as they ran for it; this damn cat was absolutely adamant on turning them in to the Inquisitor. Lucifer and Hermione kept running, taking every single secret turn they could find and running up and down the shifting stairs, trying desperately to lose the patrol cat in the process.

Without even realizing it, their panicked strides made their way all the way up to the seventh floor.

"Wait, wait," Hermione panted, coming to a heavy halt in the hallway; the boy turned to look back at her chest heaving, "We can't keep running from that stupid cat all night, Lucifer! We need a safe place to hide right now!"

He nodded in agreement, his dark eyes scanning the dark hallway. They had reached a stretch of completely blank stone wall located directly opposite an enormous tapestry depicting 'Barnabas the Barmy's' foolish attempt to train trolls for the ballet.

"Wait, Lucifer, see that!" She called out again, her eyes widening as they fixated on a highly polished wooden door that had magically appeared straight out of the blank wall. "Come on, it's perfect..."

Not thinking twice about the magic, she reached out, seizing the heavy brass handle, pulled open the door, and led the way inside a spacious, cozy room lit with warm flames dancing in a massive brick fireplace against the far wall. The hidden room resembled that of a luxurious cabin, with high wooden walls and grand windows against which the heavy rain pounded violently from outside.

It was a deeply cozy environment with large blue velvet couches surrounding the brick-based fireplace.

The decor of the interior leaned heavily on deep, rich shades of blue, but each hue carried a different mood, giving the space an artistic depth rather than a dull monotony. Even a quick glance of an idiot could tell what that design choice meant: 'Ravenclaw's' artistic talent ran incredibly deep through the architecture. You could see it in the bones of Hogwarts itself, the perfect balance of intellect and beauty woven into its stone design.

"What on earth is this place?" Hermione breathed out in absolute awe, walking in slowly as her boots squelched against the rug.

"I think..." Lucifer trailed off for a moment, his eyes looking around the high ceiling as he closed the heavy door behind them, letting the lock click. "This is the 'Room of Requirement.' I remember seeing Luna coming out from out of nowhere near this corridor long back in the day... I should have connected the dots sooner."

Hermione's ears perked up instantly, her mouth falling agape in realization. "I've read about this room before! It's also known as the Come and Go Room in the old texts. It's supposed to only appear, fully equipped with the seeker's exact needs, when people have a real, desperate need of it."

"And we certainly did," Lucifer added, a small smirk returning to his lips as he looked around. "We needed somewhere to hide out from the cat, and," he trailed off, gesturing down to their dripping wet school uniforms, "Somewhere to dry off. It really gives you the aesthetic feeling of a Ravenclaw's private bedroom."

"I suppose it does," Hermione whispered, her brow furrowing as she fell deep into thought, "Lucifer... do you think it would appear for us to use as a safe place for the secret DA lessons?"

Lucifer smiled; she was always thinking one step ahead of the game. "I was actually thinking about finding this specific room when we were back at the Hog's Head. This has made my views of the castle being a sentient entity in stone even stronger."

"This is perfect!" She squealed softly, tightly squeezing her boyfriend's hand in pure excitement.

"Yeah, it is," he agreed, unlocking their fingers to grab a heavy, plush quilt from the back of the blue couch. "But that's something to worry about tomorrow. Until then, however, I highly recommend we dry off before we catch pneumonia."

"Fufu," Hermione giggled softly before agreeing, nodding her head as she followed her boyfriend around the circular couch. Lucifer peeled off his heavy, wet outer coat and tossed it careless to the other side of the room, the fabric hitting the floor with a wet thud, as two of them sat down on the soft rug near the hearth.

Crossing her legs, she adjusted the thick quilt around her shoulders until she was comfortable, watching the dancing orange flames.

Lucifer cuddled close into her side, wrapping his arms around her waist as he watched the heavy raindrops flow in vertical streams down the high glass windows instead.

"It's quite the storm outside," he said softly, feeling Hermione's head shift against his shoulder as her eyes followed his gaze to the glass.

"I love it," She hummed softly, nuzzling her face deep into the crook of his neck. "It's so romantic."

"I'd have to agree with you on that, pet," Lucifer beamed, letting out a long, content sigh as his arms held her tight against his chest, the warmth of the fire chasing away the chill of the storm.
