Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Rewards and Aftermath

"Ding!"

The sound cut through the chaotic thoughts in Leon's mind after the fight in the alley.

[Quest: Justice! - Completed

Rewards:

1. Equipment Card - Enchanted Leather Gloves]

A translucent glowing blue card slowly materialized in front of Leon's eyes, rotating gently in the air. Leon's breath caught.

"My first equipment card!"

He looked at the man to see if he could also see the floating card, but it seems that he is the only one who could see it. He reached out towards the card and touched it.

[Equip card to slot 1 - Y /N?]

"Yes"

The card suddenly dissolved into countless motes of light that rushed towards his hand. Warmth enveloped his hands, a pair of dark brown leather gloves formed around his hands, perfectly fit like it was tailor made for him. Thin glowing runes traced along the seams, giving it a mystic feel.

Leon flexed his fingers, they felt lighter...and stronger. If he fought those two thugs again, this time it will be a one-sided fight with him winning it without any struggle.

Leon stared at his stats with eyes wide open and his pulse rate increased.

"Just that one card and I'm already this strong. Does that mean if I keep on increasing my stats I'll become a superhuman?!"

Luckily, no one saw Leon's strange actions and the man was still had his eyes close. However, a sharp hiss brought his attention back to the injured man. Leon moved to support him and help him stand.

"Easy, you've lost too much blood. I'll carry you to somewhere safe so you can go to the hospital safely."

'''Thank you, stranger. If you hadn't stepped in to top them, I'm afraid they would've done something even worse to me. I'm really grateful for your timely help'', said the injured man.

The man leaned heavily against Leon as they slowly made their way out of the alley. Every few steps he winced in pain, clutching his bruised ribs.

"It's nothing," Leon replied. "Anyone would've helped."

The man gave a weak chuckle.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that."

They reached the brightly lit street where people walked by, completely unaware of what had just happened a few meters away. Leon hailed a passing taxi.

"Can you take him to the nearest hospital?" Leon asked.

The driver glanced at the injured man and immediately nodded.

"Get in."

Before entering the taxi, the man reached into his coat and pulled out a business card stained with a few drops of blood.

"My name is Victor Hale."

"I'm the owner of a restaurant near Baker Street, the one called 'The Red Lantern' ".

"I know that place," Leon said. "It's always packed."

Victor managed a faint smile.

"We've built quite a reputation over the years."

He paused, wincing as pain shot through his injured leg.

"I don't have much with me right now to repay you, but please... come by the restaurant once I've recovered."

"You and anyone you bring will always eat there free of charge."

Leon was taken aback.

"That isn't necessary. I only helped because it was the right thing to do."

Victor shook his head firmly.

"Maybe to you it wasn't a big deal..."

"But to me, you saved my life."

"If those men had gotten what they wanted..." His expression darkened. "I wouldn't be sitting here."

Leon hesitated before slipping the card into his pocket.

"Alright. I'll visit someday."

Victor smiled, visibly relieved.

"I'll be looking forward to it."

The taxi driver cleared his throat.

"We should get moving. He needs medical attention."

Leon nodded and gently closed the taxi door.

As the taxi disappeared into the night, Leon remained standing on the sidewalk.

His eyes drifted toward his gloved hands.

"If I had these gloves from the start, the fight would've been a breeze."

Leon looks back at the unconscious thugs, thinking whether to call the police or not. They talked about a boss and he doesn't want to get involved with them.

"Hmmmmm, I'll have to find a way to inform the police without exposing my identity."

"Ding!"

"Hmmm?"
