Chapter 40 - Battle in the Town

"Like the birds and the bees,

Like the flowers and the trees~"

Blake sang cheerfully as he swept the garden.

He was outside with Stephen, who was peacefully watering the plants.

"You're singing too loudly, and can you please sing a different song?" Stephen commented with a frown.

Blake was about to speak when his attention was suddenly drawn to the sky.

The bright atmosphere around them changed in an instant.

Dark clouds gathered above, swallowing the sunlight and turning the sky into a frightening shade of black.

Both of them looked up.

"W-What's happening?" Blake asked, his usual playful expression disappearing.

"This is bad," Stephen muttered, his voice filled with seriousness.

The others quickly came outside, including Xylon.

"What's going on?" he asked.

"We don't know," Blake answered.

"Could it be that—" Maddison started to say, but her words were cut off by a horrifying scream from inside the mansion.

"Lilith!"

Without wasting another second, they all ran back inside.

"AAAAHHHH!"

Lilith screamed, clutching her ears in pain.

"Lilith! What is happening?" Xylon asked urgently as he rushed toward her.

"They have begun…" Lilith cried, tears falling down her face.

"The sealed portal has been opened!"

The entire room fell into silence.

Xylon stood frozen.

"N-No… That's impossible," he whispered.

From the darkest corner of the room, Kan slowly emerged from the shadows.

"The town has already fallen into chaos," he said, his expression grim.

Everyone turned toward him.

The moment they heard those words, they knew the battle they had been dreading had finally arrived.

Xylon looked at his companions, his eyes filled with determination.

"Prepare yourselves."

His voice echoed throughout the room.

"We are going to war."

Everyone nodded.

The time for waiting was over.

The fight against the darkness had finally begun.

.

.

.

"AHAHAHAHAHA! Yes! Spread terror! Destroy everything, and kill every last one of them!" Leviathan roared.

The demons soared across the sky while others descended upon the streets, attacking helpless humans.

The terrified townspeople ran in every direction, their screams echoing through the city.

"Help us! Please save us!" they cried.

The horrifying scene unfolded before everyone's eyes as the demons feasted upon the unfortunate victims.

"Papa, what are those creatures?" Ji Park asked innocently.

"They are my pets, Ji," Leviathan answered with a smile.

"Why are they eating people?"

"Because they were evil," Leviathan replied with a sinister grin. "And the wicked are destined to fall into Hell."

Ji Park silently stared at the demons, accepting her father's words without question.

.

.

"Damn it! There are so many demons!" Heberlin shouted.

"How did they even escape from Hell?" Xenon asked.

Xylon was the first to charge forward.

He fought against the demons that filled the streets, his powers cutting through the enemies surrounding the terrified civilians.

The others quickly joined the battle.

While fighting, Blake noticed Zander chasing after someone.

Curious, he immediately followed him.

.

.

Zander came face-to-face with Michelle.

"Hello, handsome," Michelle greeted him with a seductive smile.

"Tsk. You're not human, are you?" Zander asked coldly.

"And what if I'm not?" Michelle replied. "Can you do anything about it?"

She tried to lure him with her beauty and charm.

At that moment, Blake arrived.

"Dude, what's going on—"

His eyes landed on Michelle.

"Oh la la. What a beautiful woman," Blake commented dramatically.

"Don't let her fool you. She's a demon," Zander warned.

Blake smirked.

"Don't worry, dude. I don't date girls with horns."

Michelle's expression instantly darkened.

"You are not enchanted by my charm?"

Her eyes glowed with rage.

"Then you will die!"

Her long black hair suddenly extended, moving like countless living snakes.

"What the—?! Sadako came back to life!" Blake shouted.

Michelle attacked them without hesitation.

Fortunately, both Zander and Blake swiftly dodged her deadly assault.

The battle against the demon woman had begun.

.

.

Aria's eyes suddenly flew open.

"N-No… It has begun…" she whispered.

A terrible feeling gripped her heart.

She immediately rushed out of her room, intending to find Jade.

But she abruptly stopped in the hallway.

Her eyes widened in horror.

Black smoke was seeping through the gap beneath Jade's chamber door.

"N-No…"

Her voice trembled.

Without hesitation, Aria ran toward the door.

She pushed it open—

And the moment she saw what was inside, she covered her mouth in shock.

Her entire body froze.

.

.

On the battlefield, Xylon kicked a demon away.

Stephen quickly threw his sword toward him.

Xylon caught it midair and drove the blade straight into the demon's body.

Stephen released his chains, wrapping them around several demons and restraining their movements.

From the shadows, Kan emerged silently. With his cursed sword in hand, he pierced the trapped demons one by one.

The demons burst into flames and crumbled into ashes.

Heberlin leaped into the air and stabbed another demon through the chest.

Meanwhile, Xenon continuously teleported across the battlefield, making it impossible for the demons to capture him.

"Displodite!" Maddison shouted.

The bodies of several demons exploded upon impact.

The group gathered together for a brief moment.

"There are too many of them," Xenon said, his expression serious.

"We cannot stop," Xylon answered firmly.

He stepped forward and stood at the center of the battlefield.

Then, he closed his eyes.

A thick violet mist spread across the surroundings.

The earth began to tremble.

From the ground emerged countless creatures of every shape and size—monsters born from Xylon's illusion.

With terrifying roars, they charged toward the demons.

.

.

From afar, Leviathan watched everything unfold.

"Hm… So, he is the King of Vampires."

A sinister smile formed on his face.

"He uses illusions… Not bad."

He turned his back on the battlefield.

For now, he allowed his demons to continue fighting against the vampires and their summoned creatures.

Then, his body slowly disappeared into the darkness.

.

.

"Ahhh!"

Zander cried out as Michelle's razor-sharp hair grazed his face.

A thin cut appeared on his skin, but it healed almost instantly.

"I'm really getting sick of you!" Zander growled in annoyance.

He glanced at Blake.

Blake understood the signal and gave him a nod.

He took out his flute and began to play.

The moment the sound of the flute echoed through the air, Michelle clutched her ears.

"AAAHHH! What kind of music is this?! It hurts!" she screamed in agony.

Zander moved without hesitation.

He grabbed the sword Kan had given him and charged forward.

With one swift movement, he drove the blade straight into Michelle's chest.

"AAAHHHHH!"

Her scream echoed through the battlefield.

Her body slowly began to burn.

Blake and Zander stepped back and watched silently as Michelle was consumed by the flames until nothing remained but a pile of ashes.

"Nice move, dude," Blake said with a grin.

Zander simply chuckled.

The two of them began walking away, believing the battle was over.

But suddenly—

The sound of a child crying stopped them in their tracks.

They turned around.

A little girl stood there, tears streaming down her face.

"Hey, kid. Are you alright?" Blake asked gently.

"Be careful around her," Zander warned.

The two of them immediately stepped back when they saw the child's eyes glow with hatred.

"Huhu… You killed my big sister," the girl sobbed.

"I'm going to tell Papa about this."

The child suddenly disappeared into thin air.

Blake and Zander exchanged serious looks.

.

.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield...

The monsters created by Xylon's illusion melted away one after another.

"Tsk… They're stronger than I expected," Xylon muttered.

"I'll try attacking from the sky," Cedrick said.

His body transformed into a swarm of bats, and they scattered across the sky, attacking the demons from above.

"Whoa, that's the first time I've seen him do that," Maddison said in surprise.

"He had that ability and kept it hidden from us. What a jerk," Stephen commented.

Suddenly, a gigantic demon appeared.

With a single powerful strike, it swatted the swarm of bats away.

Cedrick was forced back into his original form.

He plummeted toward the ground.

Before he could crash, Zake quickly used his telekinesis.

Cedrick's body suddenly stopped in midair.

Zake moved his hand, slowly guiding Cedrick back toward them.

"Thanks," Cedrick said.

Kan looked at everyone.

"What is our plan now?"

Before anyone could answer, they sensed a new presence.

A mysterious figure appeared.

He stood silently on top of a nearby building.

In his hand was a large scythe.

They could not see his face because it was covered by a piece of cloth.

With a single swing of his scythe—

Every demon vanished.

Even the monsters created by Xylon's illusion disappeared.

Everyone stared at the mysterious man in shock.

Xylon's eyes widened.

"H-He feels familiar…" he whispered.

Without saying a single word, the scythe-wielding figure turned around and walked away, disappearing into the darkness.

Leaving behind nothing but confusion...

.

.

Aria was terrified when she saw Jade floating in midair.

"Jade!" she called out in horror.

At the sound of her voice, Jade's body suddenly dropped onto the bed.

But she remained unconscious.

"Jade, wake up!" Aria rushed to her side and gently shook her shoulders, trying to wake her.

"Jade! Please, open your eyes!"

There was no response.

Panic slowly crept into Aria's heart.

Her gaze traveled over Jade's body, and her eyes widened in shock.

Bruises had begun to appear across her pale skin.

They looked as though something from within was tearing her apart.

"N-No… This can't be…"

Aria whispered, her hands trembling as she stared at Jade.

A terrible feeling settled deep within her.

Something was happening to the Vampire Queen.

And whatever it was—

it was far more dangerous than she had imagined.
