Chapter 1 - The true colors of the world

In the bustling streets of Tokyo, I strolled with a mischievous glint in my eyes, my hand itching to carve another smile onto a lifeless canvas. People rushed past, their fleeting happiness nothing but a temporary distraction. I reveled in the knowledge that their joy would soon fade, leaving only the cold embrace of death in its wake.

"Hey, Gabriel! What's with that look? Planning to bring more smiles to your collection?" Toshiro's voice broke through my thoughts, his eyes gleaming with excitement. I chuckled softly, the anticipation bubbling within me. "Of course, Toshiro. Don't look so happy or I'll kill you too. I won't rest until I have captured every fleeting joy and made it my own." We roamed the streets, seeking out our next target, the thrill of the hunt electrifying the air around us. As we approached a secluded alley, I spotted a potential candidate, his laughter echoing through the night. "Shall we, Gabriel?" Toshiro's voice was eager. "Absolutely, Toshiro. Let's carve another smile and claim its happiness as our own." With a wicked grin, I stepped forward, ready to harvest yet another soul's joy for myself. The night was young, and the city of Tokyo held countless smiles waiting to be claimed. As I stood over the unconscious man, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disatisfaction. "Toshiro, imma kill you first." My friend couldn't help, but smile so I would cut him down. He tried to run, but I wouldn't allow it, "Wait..." he tried to testify himself, I stabbed him in the neck his blood splattered on my face and clothes painting me crimson. The man woke up to me stabbing him in his side.

I had finally found my source of happiness. But then he spoke, his voice filled with anger and betrayal. "Dammit! How dare you!" he screamed. I smiled, twirling the knife in my hand. "You were so happy, I couldn't remain silent." He tried to stand, but I quickly kicked him in the head, knocking him out. I shoved the knife into his side once more, I ripped the knife from his side and began stabbing him repeatedly in the throat, the blood splattering onto my face and clothes. As I looked down at his lifeless body, I couldn't help but think back to where it all began. It was because of happy people, always smiling and laughing. I had never experienced that growing up, with my parents constantly taking out their anger on me. But then I found a group of friends at school who made me feel happy and accepted. That's when I realized that I wanted all of their happiness for myself. So, one by one, I killed them and brought their bodies to my shed. When my father walked in and saw the bodies, he screamed in horror. But I just smiled and killed him too. I needed their happiness, and I was willing to do anything to keep it. As I stood among the bodies, a smile carved onto each of their faces, I couldn't help but laugh. I needed more. More happiness, more bodies, more smiles. And I would do whatever it takes to get it.

I moved from Japan, I would eventually find myself in America. I had lost interest in Japan, everywhere I looked there was sad faces. I couldn't take it and so I ended up here. I lived in an appartment. I looked around for my happiness. I found a man smiling, I couldn't comprehend what he was saying, but he was smiling. I held a knife in my hands, twirling it around. I pushed his face into the wall, stabbing him in his neck. Blood splattered onto my hoodie. My eyes had a look of ecstasy. "Hold it right there," I turned to see a man in blue, "Huh, what'd you just say to me?" I looked dumbfounded. The man cuffed my left hand. Why did everyone take away my happiness? I wondered. I used my free hand to move my knife to my right hand, I stabbed the man in his heart. Men surrounded me. I searched the man for the keys to get me uncuffed. I found the keys and unlocked my chains, I stood at ready with a knife in my hands. I moved like the wind, aiming at their vitals, I cut them down before they could pull their guns at me. The man, I stabbed in the arm groaned in pain. He rose to his feet. He cried for his life. However, I put him down, I hated crying.

*Error404, subject seven has woke from his sleep.* a encrypted voice called. "Lock down, the city no one leaves and no one enters. I will handle subject seven." he issued commands, staggering towards the door. "I told you I'd finish you off. I wasn't sure where I was. Then I remembered. You're dying today, you bastard," I stook a knife through his skull. "All because of me breaking the forth wall and you couldn't. Who's the test subject now?" blood pooled, I pulled the knife from his brain. "Alright, this will be..." a man grabbed me from behind and slammed me onto the ground. "Go back to your cage, bastard!" he called. I struggled. I was venturing through my knowledge. As everything black and the maniac was back. I was back into the subject cage number seven of five hundred.

I remain in still. I couldn't recall what happend seconds ago. I was being arrested. I tried break free but I couldn't.

"Gabriel, hasn't it been awhile." he said, smiling at me. "Jasper, if it isn't you. I thought, I killed ya." I replied spitting blood on the ground. "I was nearly a goner there." he pulled up his shirt, a huge scar lay beneath. "Your actions have caused my pain... I mean other peoples pain, you will be sentenced to death immediately." he slammed his hammer down. "Just know, Jasper, this won't work out!" I screamed. They tried to suffocate me. However, I broke free from the chains. "Time to die, Jasper."

I hung Jasper from the ceiling, his guts hanging from his body. I carved a big smile on his face.
