Karl gave Shade one final warning before they all left.
"You need to listen to the Elder. She controls everything from behind the scenes, and she can make your Anilla either very happy or very miserable with extra schoolwork if you don't play along," he warned the Moor Cat.
Shade gave the woman a suspicious glare, which made the Elder laugh.
"That's part of my duties as a mother. I can also change your afternoon snack from Forest Pheasant to mud skipper fish if you're not willing to cooperate."
That was all it took to convince Shade that this woman was not playing around. If she was willing to make him eat that horrible fish as a snack, she was capable of anything. He might be fond of his pet Elf, but some sacrifices had to be made in order to keep the peace.
The others left the apartment, and Karl was about to close the door, when he heard his name being called from down the street.
"Karl! Don't run away yet." Nyan called as she ran toward him with Geoff in her arms.
