Chapter 224 - Chapter 218: Checking the Timeline

After catching up with everyone in the guild and watching Natsu beat the guild members easily with his new powers, Karna decided to look into the changes that had happened in the timeline entirely.

He knew the next arc was supposed to include Lucy and her abandoned doll that came to life somehow. But he had prevented that from happening by warning Layla beforehand about it. Right now, the doll was a dear member of the Heartfilia family. The family had come to the guild on the day everyone had returned from Tenrou to check up on Lucy, and Karna had met her there.

Plus, with Cobra joining the Council on rehabilitation, the group that planned the tower was out of commission, losing two of their most powerful forces.

Karna accessed the intelligence files that Grandine had given him last night—the intelligence files she had collected over the last seven years. Karna pushed his Sharingan to its absolute maximum to read through seven years' worth of information in a matter of hours.

He then passed the information on to his mind palace, which catalogued every piece of information along with what he had retained in his last life, which included combined information from both the manga and the anime.

It did not take long for him to reach a conclusion.

His actions had already cleared most of the field of enemies in the future. His actions had destroyed many of the dark guilds that would appear in the future, like Avatar, and had destroyed the dark guild from which Minerva and her father would acquire information about demons and join them. Even Zeref had mostly regained his bearings and had joined with Mavis to fight their common enemy.

The only things left from the canon were the Grand Magic Games and the battle with the demons who would be aiming to eradicate all magic from the world.

The Grand Magic Games would be less dramatic than before. Since everyone in the guild went through a major power-up during that one year in Tenrou, a single one of them was more than strong enough to take on any of the major guilds out there.

Plus, on the matter of demons, the chances of them acquiring Faces were limited to just one. Karna could make sure the retired councillors were safe and stop the plans even before they started. Plus, with his understanding of curse energy and death energy, he would be able to wipe out the demons without worrying about them coming back through the book.

Karna sighed in relief.

'That takes care of most of the problem. The only things that remain are Ankhseram and Acnologia.' He slightly pressed his chest, where he sensed the presence of three hearts beating at the same time. 'I have already prepared for every possible situation as much as I can. The only thing I can do is prepare myself for the battle that will arrive in a few months.'

Karna had expended everything he could in the last year he was trapped on the island. The system had run at full force with the blessings he had gained from Jason. Even if he somehow acquired any additional gifts from the achievement section, they wouldn't increase his power in any exponential way.

He had pushed his arsenal to the absolute limit. His magic hearts would ensure that his capacity was similar to the usage of Fairy Heart itself. So the only thing left was to wait for the eventual battle that would decide the fate of the entire world.

Karna already had an idea of Acnologia's capability because of the last battle he had with the black dragon. So he was sure that next time he would be able to fight the dragon with the advantage on his side.

But Ankhseram was an entirely different threat altogether. He was a human wizard who had lived for centuries. Even if he had gained his accomplishments by using geniuses for centuries, his planning and preparations would be unmatched.

The main problem with this opponent was the complete lack of any information about him.

Karna had tried his best to find anything about him but found that much of the information had been scrubbed clean from every archive in Ishgar that detailed historic figures.

The only thing he was able to find was the name Ankhseram, the god of death. He punishes those who violate the rules of the dead and the living. His weapon is the Curse of Contradiction—those inflicted by it will suffer for the rest of their days while being a beacon of death and destruction.

Karna was surprised at how limited the information was. Even Zeref, who was younger than Ankhseram, had thousands of different kinds of stories related to him, which were mostly made up by fanatics and dark wizards.

But it almost seemed like someone had a hand in making sure that Ankhseram was only known for that limited information—to be known as an entity who was unstoppable, unwavering in his punishments.

The origin of magic came from the emotion of love. Then later on, emotions started to combine to create magic. Zeref, on the other hand, isolated negative emotions alone to create cursed energy. It did not take a genius to find out what Ankhseram was trying to do.

Karna knew that Ankhseram was somehow harnessing energy from the people of the world by maintaining this one image throughout the world.

So he would have to find a way to completely remove that energy from him.

"System, tell me—Faces are able to remove magic from the world that is made up of a combination of multiple emotions. But they are unable to remove cursed energy. Can I use a similar principle to remove the power Ankhseram has because of the image that he has spread throughout the world?"

[The system currently lacks enough energy to complete calculations to give a perfect assessment. But preliminary analysis shows that there is still a chance.]

"Well then, it looks like there is still work to do."

A/N – Hope you like it. My exams are still going on, so chapters in all three books will be rare.
