Adeline quickly turned to Caesar, "Honey, please let it go. He's just trying to provoke you. Don't entertain him, please."
Caesar cocked a brow. From his expression alone, it was more than clear that he had no intention of backing down in what way or so ever.
"Caesar—"
He looked at her with a frown. "You want me to back down? For what?"
"Caesar, it's clear that he's just provoking us. There is no need for you to bother about it."
"And why shouldn't I?" His face darkens. He was actually pissed. "I wanted to get something for you. Do I just toss it aside just because someone got in my way?"
"I…" she blinked several times at him. "That is not what I'm trying to say. It's just that—"
"Do you want the necklace?"
"No."
"Don't lie to me, Adeline!"
"Caesar!" She looked away from him and dragged her fingers through her hair.
"Adeline, look at me," he grabbed her jaw gently, turning her attention back to him.
