If there had been some solid corridors, sharp corners, or a complicated internal structure, it would have at least been somewhat easier to segregate attacking teams and defend the place.
As it was, only the outer walls provided any real fortification, and once any enemy groups breached through either of the doors, they would more or less be forced into a direct confrontation. The upper levels were more to give them access to the windows looking out than to provide any real vantage against enemies who broke in.
If their plan hadn't been as absurd as trying to win this exercise outright, she may have praised this kind of design. It made it harder to defend and easier to attack, and encouraged attacking teams to cooperate in case any one team tried to hold the fort.
