The Flame Intent and Beast Intent combined to make these fire serpents seemingly come to life as they charged forward.
Thanks to the two Intents involved, they were somewhat similar to heat-seeking missiles from Aksai's previous homeworld, making it almost impossible for them to miss their targets.
The serpents shot forward.

But the remaining beasts didn't retreat.
Instead, they charged even harder and attacked in a peculiar manner, forming an obvious pattern.
