NADIA

"Darling, I don't want to be selfish, and I shouldn't be putting you in this position, but—" My heart broke when I heard the desperation, the crack in his voice. "But I need you. I need you by my side, Nadia. If I weren't serious about us, I wouldn't be jeopardizing my family or my future. I mean it when I say I'll do anything. Anything just to be with you. All you have to do is say the word, and you'll have me at your feet. Please." But I shook my head. No matter how good it all sounded, I knew there would be consequences. "No, Elijah. My answer won't change. But there is one thing I want you to do right now." "Anything," he answered, desperate. "Tonight..." I trailed off, using the back of my hand to caress his cheek. He closed his eyes, leaning into my touch, then gently took my hand and pressed a kiss to it. So I continued. "Tonight, I want you to make love to me. I want you to make love to me like you never have before." That was all it took for him to pull me into a kiss as we headed to the cottage beside the mansion.

With tears in my eyes and an aching heart, I leaned into his kiss him. My eyes fluttered shut as I got lost in the moment. The kiss was soft. Different, but familiar. Filled with desperation, sadness, and two sore hearts colliding. I ran my hands through his hair as he brushed mine from my face. And that night, we made love for the very first time.

He was gentle with me at first, mapping my body like a vow, but gradually his pace quickened. His thrusts were filled with passion, desire - a need for more of me that I'd never experienced. His eyes scanned every inch of me with adoration, and his lips never left mine. I'd never felt so loved, and I didn't want it to end.

He became rough with need, with desperation, with the refusal to let this moment slip away. And I matched him. My nails dug into his back with every roll of his hips, moaning his name louder and louder until it was a prayer. I found myself wanting him in me every day, every second, in every lifetime. Basically forever. Because that's how unforgettable it was.

In between his thrusts, I could've sworn I heard him say he loves me. I thought, once again, I was imagining things. But I heard him say it again when he thought I'd fallen asleep beside him. "I love you, Red," he whispered. "I've fallen so hard, so much that I can see it scares you. And it scares me too, because it's almost too much for my heart to bear." He sealed it with a kiss to my forehead.

We were at it all night. And by morning, I had to resist the urge to have him again - but I couldn't

When I rose in the morning, I showered and slipped into the same stupid dress from the night before. I rummaged through some stranger's belongings, from this cottage and found a pen and paper, and wrote him a small note.

- I love you too, dummy. And it's because I love you so much that I have to leave.

It was 5 a.m. now, and I had to leave him.For good this time.
