Luciano stepped back and raised his guard, keeping a wary eye on the unfamiliar objects held by the man.
Captain Adam, whose name was Adam, asked, "How did this wild animal end up here?"
"Maybe it climbed over the wall. Why don't we call Miss Maya?" suggested one of the guards.
"Let's call her," agreed Adam.
As the panther listened to their conversation, it remained on high alert, its blue eyes flashing.
Soon, Maya entered the scene, and the panther let out a purr.
Maya had long, dark, wavy hair and gorgeous black eyes framed by long eyelashes. She had a fair complexion and pink lips. She was wearing dark pajamas and a thin heart-shaped chain, and her hair was still messy, as if she had just woken up.
"What's wrong?" Maya's voice was pleasant, yet it carried a touch of softness and coldness.
"We found a wild animal in the garden," Maya was greeted by the sight of a black panther with blue eyes looking at her, purring non-threateningly.
Maya walked towards the panther.
"It's dangerous to get close to him, ma'am," Captain Adam warned, scared.
"Don't worry," Maya reassured him. She squatted next to the panther and rubbed its head.
Lucifer leaned against her hands, rubbing his furry head against her and started licking her hands affectionately.
"Awwww," a smile appeared on Maya's face, surprising the guards. Maya never smiled at anyone, and now seeing her smile was like watching ice melt.
"Grrrr...." Lucifer growled, wondering how such a gorgeous female could exist.
He sniffed her and thought that she smelled so nice, he wanted to rub his head all over her and smell like her.
While Lucifer was lost in his daydream, Maya noticed a wound on his paw.
She looked at another guard and commanded, "Call a veterinarian to see this panther. I want to take care of it."
"But it's already midnight. I'm afraid no doctor will be willing to come here at this hour," the guard hesitated.
"Just call already. I will pay double the amount," Maya said, looking at the bleeding wound on Lucifer's paw.
Lucifer, who was injured, touched and licked Maya's hands again.
"Pick him up and take him inside. He poses no threat," she said as the guard hesitated but lowered his gun and approached the panther.
"Grrrrr---" Lucifer growled angrily as the man came closer to him. How could anyone touch him?
"Ma'am," the guard was already frightened, his legs trembling. He was scared that the panther would jump on him and tear him apart.
Maya rubbed the panther's head. "Can you walk inside?" she asked, not expecting that he would understand.
Upon hearing her, Lucifer started walking and raised his head towards her, as if to say, 'See, I can walk.'
"Good boy," Maya smiled. "Follow me." The panther began following Maya closely.
The guards were shocked to witness the panther's intelligence. However, they were still afraid of him, especially when they approached Maya or him, as he would growl angrily.
