steven woke up and found himself surrounded by trees. steven turned 21 just yesterday. steven is 5'11 ft tall and lean person. he was about to complete his computer science studies at a good university. last thing he remember is drinking and enjoying his birthday with his friends at the club.

1. the paths are shown from simplest to complex. while simple path will make you strong at the begging of you life. complex path will make you stronger than those in realm above you.
2. advance/legacy paths are very hard to master and grow. if you want to chose them. i advice you to chose any of the first five as there are already too much for you walk on. as for the rest of the paths are almost impossible to even understand and you won't survive the trial.
3. legacy of dead is paths walked by void masters who are stronger then me. but you can not look other way if you choose this path. in this path you will receive a path that is most suitable for you by intent of 'minerva' .
even it is the legacy of void masters. if i was given a choice. i will not chose legacy of dead cause all of these legacy's have no future after reaching void realm. and there is the intent left by the void masters themself.]
just as steven was wondering how did he end up in woods. a virtual screen suddenly appeared in front of him. startled as he was, he looks at the screen with pure shock.
as he reads word like trails ,10/100 chosen , paths. the hangover from last night disappear from the adrenaline boost he received from fear.
"fuc*"
'clam down stev. clam down.'
he calmed his loudly beating heart and read the whole thing again skipping most of paths.
'so there are 100 more like me and only 10 people will survive. who ever this realm master is forcing us to fight each other? for what?'
even though he was trying to be calm as possible his heart beat was still fast and loud. steven used to read some novels during his his school days. he still was difficult for him to understand it was really happening and realms exist and supernatural powers seems to exist according to what he read on the screen present in front of him.
'paths. yes paths, i have to chose something that will help me become stronger than others.'
as he made up his mind to choose a path. he quickly look at the screen again. as he was reading over realm masters note. he understood that complex paths are a 'no go' as he wanted to survive the trail first so he wanted to pick a path which will help him now.
'basic paths would be the best to pick now but what happens if i survive? will i be weaker then other who chose advance path and die after the trail? '
as so many thoughts are going though his head. he noticed something on the screen.

just as he was thinking. he heard something from his left side. he looked over only to see a fox watching him from some distance. he become a little scared but he sighed as all it is doing was watching.
'is it because fox hunt only small animals? that must be it. if fox is present here then other animals may be present. did those two persons killed by other animals?'
he decided he might be right. then it him.
'if the trial is not about surviving against animals then do we really have to kill each other?'
slowly he moved away from the fox. even if it was not attacking him right now. he just wanted to stay way from the fox. he decided it is best to climb a tree as it is safer and he can see if any other animals comes near him.
he looked for a good tree and climbed on it. to a good height and a strong enough branch to hold his weight. he look over the screen only to see only 27 mins are left till the trail begins. even though he decided against choosing advance paths. as he looked over two specific advanced paths.

he was reminded of two of best novel he had read which he thought he had forgotten. he read realm masters note again. ul'khan did say that first five advance paths are doable even if was hard. he was tempted.

suddenly a voice caught his attention. he looked over to find a guy somewhat of similar age as him was running towards his location while scream for help. just as stev was wondering what that guy was running from. he saw a brown wolf as big as a person on its four legs was chasing that person.
it didn't take long for the wolf to reach the man and bite him in the leg. the man trip overed not to far from the tree that stev was on. stev watched as the wolf bite the neck of that person and kill him. stev put his hand over his mouth as he was afraid he might make noise and wolf might notice him.
the wolf started to tear and eat the dead person. stev was terrified. he looked over the screen to notice

it confirm his assumption. the choose were killed by animals even before the trial began. he was afraid he might be in a territory of wolfs and foxes. and no way he could survive for two weeks.
'i have to get down eventually for food and water. i am almost certain. i will die. if i don't choose a good path'

he contemplated then decided to go though with duel cultivation. even though basic path are simple and effective. he thought there might be not much difference between basic and intermediate paths.
suddenly the wolf which was feasting on the dead man lifted its head looks up. a chill went up stev's spine as the thought the wolf noticed him. but the wolf just turned away and ran. just as stev's shoulders relaxed.
he heard noises from his back and not just back but from above too. he turned back lifting his head only to find apes. he was scared with all the hair in body standing up. stev's flight or fight hormons kicked in. first thing he tried to do was to climb down the tree.
as he was trying to climb down his grip on the tree branches got loose and he slipped. as falling he looked above to notice two things. first, it seems even the apes were running away and didn't even seem to notice him. second, the time for the trail to begin is just 4 mins away.
in his free fall. stev hit by many branches and got wounds all over his body. as he hit the ground his mind went blank for a second as hit a rock. when stev came back to himself. all on his mind was choosing his path.

he don't know who or what minerva's intent is. but it seems by choosing legacy of dead he will chose a path that is most suitable to him. looking at the time again he noticed it was 40 sec away.

with those word. he chose legacy of dead. as he thought of pressing it. it seems just a thought is enough as the screen in front of him disappeared and a new screens showed up
