Chapter 196 - Chapter 195:Kanto League starts preliminary Chain Mission Part 4

----------------------Guardian venusaur into the action------------------------

The Rock Field arena was a brutal colosseum of stone and grit, where the ground crunched underfoot and every impact sent dust clouds billowing like smoke from a battlefield. Jagged boulders dotted the landscape, offering cover and peril in equal measure. The crowd leaned forward in their seats, the air thick with tension as the preliminary rounds neared their climax. This wasn't just any match it was the decider for top 16 spots, and the stakes felt heavier with every passing second.

Ash sat in the spectator stands with his group, arms crossed, watching intently. Misty munched on popcorn to his left, Sabrina sat quietly to his right, her psychic senses picking up the emotional undercurrents of the trainers below. Brock leaned back, analyzing the field layout with a critical eye.

"Rock Field favors heavy hitters," Brock murmured. "Whoever controls the terrain wins."

Ash nodded, but his mind was already drifting. The bracket screen had just flashed Gary's name his final prelim against a trainer named Melissa. Gary… Ash thought. In the canon timeline he remembered from his previous life, Gary had washed out in the prelims, humbled by overconfidence. But here? Things were different. Ash's actions his rapid rise, the system's influence, the butterfly effect of his reincarnation had rippled outward.

Gary's allowance had been cut by Oak after Ash's achievements made headlines, forcing the rival to train harder, smarter. No more coasting on family money. This Gary was stronger, sharper. Butterfly effect in full swing, Ash mused. Wonder if he'll make it…

The announcer's voice boomed over the speakers.

Announcer: "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, FINAL PRELIM ON ROCK FIELD! ON THE GREEN SIDE GARY OAK FROM PALLET TOWN!"

Commentator 1 (enthusiastic): "Gary Oak! Grandson of Professor Oak high expectations on this kid. He's been solid in prelims, but can he clinch the top 16?"

Commentator 2: "And on the red side MELISSA! Tough trainer with a rock-solid team. This could be a grind!"

The battle was already down to the wire both trainers on their last Pokémon. Melissa's Golem stood like a living boulder, arms crossed, eyes glowing with defiant power. Gary's Nidoking crouched low, horn gleaming, muscles tensed for the kill.

Gary (grinning cockily): "Nidoking Horn Attack! Charge!"

Nidoking roared, lowering his head and stampeding forward. The ground trembled under his feet, horn spinning like a drill aimed straight at Golem's core.

Melissa's eyes narrowed. "Golem catch it! Seismic Toss!"

Golem planted its feet, massive arms extending. As Nidoking's horn slammed home, Golem grabbed it muscles bulging, feet digging into the rock. The impact sent cracks racing outward, but Golem held firm, lifting Nidoking off the ground with raw strength. The crowd gasped as Golem spun, preparing to hurl the poison-ground type into the boulders.

Commentator 1: "Incredible! Golem's caught the Horn Attack now Seismic Toss! This could end it!"

Commentator 2: "Gary's Nidoking is in trouble! Melissa's turning his attack against him!"

Gary's cocky grin didn't fade. If anything, it sharpened.

"Nidoking point-blank Hyper Beam!"

Nidoking's mouth opened wide, golden energy gathering in a blinding sphere right in Golem's face.

The beam fired.

A deafening boom shook the arena. Golden-white light engulfed Golem at zero range, the force blasting it backward. Golem crashed into a boulder cluster, the impact shattering stone and sending debris flying. When the dust cleared, Golem lay still fainted, horn scorched black.

Commentator 1 (shouting): "Hyper Beam at point-blank! Golem is down! Gary Oak advances to the top 16!"

Commentator 2: "What a turnaround! Nidoking turned a bad spot into a total blowout. This kid's got guts!"

The crowd cheered, but Ash's group watched with interest. Gary walked off the field, spotting Ash in the stands. He paused, that familiar cocky smile creeping back.

"Hey, Ash! Waiting for you at the top. Don't disappoint me, rival."

Ash met his gaze, returning a smiling smirk.

"Wait for me. I'll be there."

Gary laughed and walked on.

Ash leaned back, crossing his arms. Butterfly effect, he thought again. In canon, Gary crashed out here. But because of me my achievements, Oak cutting his allowance he's pushed harder. He's stronger now. This League just got more interesting.

Misty nudged him. "That was intense. Gary's no joke."

Sabrina nodded. "His Nidoking adapted well."

Brock grinned. "Can't wait for your match, Ash. Grass Field tomorrow against Jeanette Fisher from Crimson City. She's got a reputation for tricky Bug-types."

Ash's eyes gleamed. "Perfect."

The next day dawned bright, the Indigo Plateau buzzing with mid-prelim energy. Ash's final prelim was set on the Grass Field a lush, verdant arena of tall grasses, flower beds, and vine-covered platforms. Sunlight streamed through the open roof, making the field feel like a living garden perfect for Grass-types, deadly for careless trainers.

Ash stepped onto the green side, the soft turf giving slightly under his boots. Pikachu gave a thumbs-up from the sidelines. Across the field, Jeanette Fisher waited long hair tied back, wearing a simple green dress that blended with the field. She smiled politely, but her eyes were sharp, calculating.

"You're Ash Ketchum," she said. "I've heard about your Gyarados and Steelix. This'll be fun."

Ash nodded. "Let's make it a good one, Jeanette."

The announcer's voice thundered.

Announcer: "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, FINAL PRELIM ON GRASS FIELD! ON THE GREEN SIDE THE UNDEFEATED PRELIM SENSATION ASH KETCHUM!"

Commentator 1: "This kid's on fire! Shiny red Gyarados, Alpha Steelix, mutant Eevee what!"

Commentator 2: "And on the red side JEANETTE FISHER FROM CRIMSON CITY! Bug-type specialist with a knack for surprises. Can she upset the hype?"

Announcer: "THREE-ON-THREE! BATTLE… BEGIN!"

Ding ding ding!

Jeanette threw first.

Jeanette: "Scyther go!"

The mantis Pokémon slashed the air, blades gleaming.

Commentator 1: "Scyther! Speed and slice perfect for Grass Field!"

Ash tossed his ball.

"Venusaur I choose you."

Venusaur materialized with a deep rumble, petals blooming wide, vines twitching. His mutated Chlorophyll gleamed under the sunlight speed and defense maxed, body radiating green energy.

Commentator 2: "Venusaur! But look at that size and glow this isn't normal! Ash's got another monster!"

Jeanette's eyes narrowed. "Scyther Swords Dance!"

Scyther spun, blades glowing as attack surged.

Ash: "Venusaur Vine Whip!"

Vines lashed out like whips.

Scyther dodged blurring fast countering with Slash.

Vines blocked, but the blades nicked one.

Commentator 1: "Scyther connects! Venusaur's vines are tough, but Scyther's speed is on point!"

Jeanette: "Fury Cutter!"

Scyther charged, blades slicing in a frenzy.

Venusaur took hits petals scoring but held.

Ash: "Razor Leaf!"

Leaves shot like shuriken.

Scyther batted some away, but others cut its arms.

Commentator 2: "Razor Leaf lands! Scyther's bleeding, but Swords Dance is ramping its power!"

Scyther pressed, X-Scissor glowing.

It slashed Venusaur's bulb painful.

Venusaur roared.

Ash: "Sludge Bomb!"

Poison globs exploded from the bulb Scyther dodged most, but one splashed, poisoning it.

Scyther winced, movements slowing.

Commentator 1: "Poisoned! Scyther's in trouble!"

Jeanette: "Quick Attack finish it!"

Scyther blurred forward.

Ash: "Earthquake!"

Venusaur stomped the field heaved.

Scyther tripped mid-dash, slammed by waves.

Fainted.

Commentator 2: "Scyther down! Venusaur's Earthquake was devastating!"

Jeanette returned Scyther, brow furrowed. "Beedrill go!"

The bee buzzed out, stingers ready.

Commentator 1: "Beedrill! Poison/Bug twin stingers for status hell!"

Jeanette: "Twineedle!"

Beedrill darted, stingers jabbing.

Venusaur dodged some mutated speed kicking in but one pierced his side, poisoning him.

Commentator 2: "Twineedle hits! Venusaur's poisoned now it's a race!"

Ash: "Synthesis!"

Venusaur glowed green, wounds healing, poison easing.

Beedrill pressed: Poison Jab.

Venusaur took it grunting but countered with Leech Seed.

Seeds latched, sapping Beedrill's energy.

Commentator 1: "Leech Seed! Beedrill's draining!"

Jeanette: "Pin Missile!"

Missiles fired.

Venusaur blocked with vines, but some pierced.

He roared in pain.

Ash: "Giga Drain!"

Vines extended, latching onto Beedrill, draining life force.

Beedrill weakened, struggling.

Commentator 2: "Giga Drain! Beedrill's fading fast!"

Jeanette: "U-turn!"

Beedrill broke free, slamming Venusaur before retreating.

Jeanette: "Bellsprout switch in!"

Bellsprout appeared small, but eyes sharp, vines coiling like springs.

Commentator 1: "Bellsprout! Jeanette's ace skilled and deceptive!"

Jeanette: "Vine Whip entangle!"

Vines lashed out, wrapping Venusaur's legs.

He struggled.

Commentator 2: "Bellsprout's vines are strong! Venusaur's trapped!"

Ash: "Razor Leaf cut free!"

Leaves sliced the vines.

Bellsprout dodged, countering with Sludge Bomb.

Poison splashed Venusaur burning.

He winced, poison compounding.

Commentator 1: "Sludge Bomb! Venusaur's hurting poison stack!"

Jeanette: "Solar Beam charge!"

Bellsprout glowed, absorbing light.

Ash: "Earthquake disrupt!"

Venusaur stomped ground heaving.

Bellsprout lost balance, charge broken.

Commentator 2: "Earthquake interrupts! Bellsprout's Solar Beam fails!"

Bellsprout recovered: Acid Spray.

Venusaur tanked it defenses holding but winced.

Ash: "Petal Dance!"

Petals stormed like blades.

Bellsprout dodged most, but some sliced vines.

Commentator 1: "Petal Dance hits! Bellsprout's bleeding!"

Jeanette: "Razor Leaf!"

Leaves clashed mid-air.

Venusaur's were stronger breaking through, grazing Bellsprout.

Bellsprout countered: Wrap.

Vines squeezed Venusaur's neck.

He gasped.

Commentator 2: "Wrap! Venusaur's choked Jeanette's turning the tide!"

Ash: "Sludge Bomb point-blank!"

Venusaur fired poison into the vines Bellsprout recoiled, poisoned.

Commentator 1: "Sludge Bomb backfires on Bellsprout! Poisoned!"

Bellsprout weakened: Growth.

It bulked up.

Jeanette: "Giga Drain!"

Tendrils sapped Venusaur's energy.

He roared in pain.

Commentator 2: "Giga Drain! Bellsprout's healing close match!"

Ash: "Venusaur full power. Frenzy Plant!"

Roots erupted entangling Bellsprout, squeezing tight.

Bellsprout struggled, vines snapping.

Fainted.

Commentator 1: "Frenzy Plant seals it! Bellsprout down! ASH ONCE AGAIN WINS WITH ONLY ONE POKÉMON!"

Commentator 2: "The crowd's wild! Shiny Gyarados, Alpha Steelix, mutant Eevee now speedy Venusaur! Ash's fame is skyrocketing!"

Ash returned Venusaur, patting the ball. "You were incredible."

Jeanette approached, offering a hand. "Your Venusaur's amazing. Congrats."

Ash shook it. "Thanks. You pushed us hard."

As he walked off, the system dinged.
