Ash stood firm on his side of the battlefield, his eyes sharp and focused, while Agatha leaned on her cane with a knowing, mischievous smirk that spoke of decades of hard-earned experience.
Agatha suddenly tapped her cane on the ground, revealing a shining Key Stone embedded in its handle. A brilliant light burst forth, connecting directly with Gengar. The Mega Evolution began immediately. Gengar's body started to change dramatically, its form growing larger and more intimidating. Its lower body sank directly into the ground, becoming almost ethereal, while its arms, ears, and tail grew much longer. The bottom of its body turned a deep reddish-purple, and a bright yellow third eye appeared on its forehead, allowing it to see into other dimensions. The back, tail, and hands sprouted extra sharp spikes, completing its terrifying new appearance.
Once the light faded, Mega Gengar stood before them a truly nightmarish and powerful presence that made the temperature in the tower drop even further. Its sinister grin widened as shadows spread across the arena like living darkness, creating an oppressive atmosphere that sent chills down everyone's spines.
Giselle clutched her hands together tightly, her voice filled with concern. "That form looks so much stronger…"
Pikachu, Eevee, and Togepi watched with wide eyes, the Misdreavus floating nervously beside them.
Agatha's voice rang out with authority. "Mega Gengar, Shadow Ball!"
Now dramatically faster and more powerful, Mega Gengar launched a massive Shadow Ball that raced forward with terrifying speed. The attack landed the first clean, heavy hit of the battle, striking Zoroark with tremendous force and throwing it across the battlefield. The impact created a loud crash as Zoroark slammed into the far wall, dust and debris flying everywhere.
Giselle gasped in worry. "Zoroark!"
Pikachu, Eevee, and Togepi cried out in concern, the Misdreavus letting out a startled sound.
But Ash remained calm and focused. He quickly channeled a strong wave of Viridian aura and psychic energy, boosting Zoroark's defense just before the full impact. The aura shield softened the blow significantly, allowing Zoroark to recover faster than expected.
Ash's voice was steady and encouraging. "Zoroark, use Hyper Voice!"
Despite the heavy damage, Zoroark let out a powerful spectral scream that shook the entire tower. The sound blast forced Mega Gengar backward, pushing it all the way to the other side of the field with its sheer force.
Pikachu and Eevee cheered loudly for their friend. "Pika-pi!" "Eevee!"
Agatha wasn't finished. "Mega Gengar, Sludge Bomb!"
Mega Gengar fired a powerful blast of poisonous sludge that tore through the air toward Zoroark. Ash reacted instantly. "Zoroark, dodge it with a high jump!"
Zoroark leaped high into the air at the last possible moment, evading the Sludge Bomb by a hair's breadth. The toxic attack splattered against the wall behind it, sizzling on contact.
Ash saw the perfect opportunity. "Zoroark, one final Nasty Plot!"
Instead of attacking directly, Zoroark stood calmly, its ghostly aura intensifying dramatically as it amplified its power one last time. The air around it became heavy with dark energy, the shadows in the tower seeming to respond to its growing strength.
Mega Gengar and Agatha finally realized their mistake too late. Zoroark was now significantly more dangerous, its boosted special attack power making every subsequent move potentially decisive.
The battle had become a true test of strategy, power, and endurance a fitting challenge for the Ghost Elite's trial. Both trainers refused to back down, the tower alive with spectral power as the clash continued toward its climax.
Agatha's eyes gleamed with battle-hardened intensity as she tapped her cane once more. "Mega Gengar, one powerful Shadow Ball!"
The Mega Evolved Gengar gathered an immense amount of dark energy, its sinister grin widening as it hurled a massive Shadow Ball toward Zoroark. The devastating attack flew forward like a sphere of pure darkness, crackling with ominous power and threatening to engulf everything in its path.
Ash countered immediately, his voice sharp and confident. "Zoroark, Bitter Malice!"
Now empowered by two Nasty Plot boosts and Calm Mind, Zoroark unleashed a wave of ghostly flames infused with pure malice. The attack surged forward with eerie intensity, completely overwhelming the Shadow Ball in a spectacular collision. The ghostly flames broke through the dark sphere and engulfed Mega Gengar, burning across its shadowy form with relentless force. For the first time in the battle, Mega Gengar was heavily injured, its body flickering unsteadily as it staggered back.
The crowd of spectators Giselle, Pikachu, Eevee, Togepi, and the curious Misdreavus watched with wide-eyed excitement and tension.
Giselle clutched her hands together. "That Bitter Malice was incredible! Zoroark is pushing it to the limit!"
Pikachu cheered loudly. "Pika-pi!"
Eevee and Togepi bounced excitedly, while the Misdreavus floated around them, seemingly thrilled by the dramatic battle.
Mega Gengar, refusing to yield, attacked with incredible speed. It launched another powerful Shadow Ball, the dark energy racing toward Zoroark with terrifying velocity.
Ash's Zoroark suddenly disappeared in a swirl of illusions. Only a fake image remained in its place. The Shadow Ball destroyed the illusion, exploding harmlessly against the tower wall.
The real Zoroark appeared directly above Mega Gengar. "Night Daze!"
The concentrated darkness crashed down like a falling star, slamming into Mega Gengar with tremendous force. The impact sent the Mega Evolved Ghost-type crashing to one knee, its body flickering violently.
Both Pokémon were now exhausted, breathing heavily as they faced each other across the battlefield. The tower felt alive with spectral power, the air thick with tension.
Mega Gengar gathered every ounce of its remaining power into one final Shadow Ball, the dark energy swirling ominously around it.
Zoroark closed its eyes for a brief moment, then charged straight through the attack with fearless determination. The Shadow Ball exploded behind it, but Zoroark's ghostly body resisted much of the impact. With every remaining bit of strength, Hisuian Zoroark unleashed one last Bitter Malice at point-blank range.
The attack erupted into towering white and purple ghostly flames, engulfing Mega Gengar completely. When the smoke finally cleared, Mega Gengar slowly lost its Mega form, collapsing to the ground, unable to continue.
The battle was over.
Giselle and the Pokémon cheered with pure joy. Giselle rushed toward Ash and jumped into his arms, giving him a deep, passionate lip lock filled with pride and affection. Their tongues danced in a heated battle as the kiss grew more intense, the heat of the moment consuming them both.
Agatha recalled her defeated Gengar with a small, nostalgic smile. She shook her head slightly, muttering to herself, "Young people these days…" She thought back to how Lorelei had returned from the Orange Islands acting like a lovesick schoolgirl, her mood brighter than ever. Perhaps this young lad had captured the Ice Queen's heart as well.
Agatha then walked toward Ash, who was still engaged in the passionate kiss. She cleared her throat with a loud cough.
Both youngsters broke apart immediately. Giselle's whole face turned bright red as she jumped down from Ash, Ash's saliva still glistening on her lips.
Agatha chuckled. "Young lad, your battling impressed me very much. With my defeat, you have now defeated three of the Kanto Elite Four members. The final challenge is against the Champion of Kanto himself Lance."
Ash's eyes lit up with a competitive fire. Agatha continued, "Lance is currently on a highly classified mission, so he won't be able to have an Elite Four challenge right now. With the Chairman's order, they have decided you will battle Lance once the Johto League window closes. So you need to wait for another league cycle. For this inconvenience, the League wants to compensate you by giving you a rare Pokémon egg. Once everything is authorized, the egg will be given to Professor Oak, and he will deliver it to you."
At that moment, Ash received a system notification in his mind.
