Chapter 11 - 007 Ren Family, enroll_2

In an instant, the smile vanished, replaced by irritation and impatience.

Anyone could become a relative of the Ren Family?

**

Today Ji Shaorong was around, so after dinner, it wasn't Bai Lian's turn to wash the dishes; it was Ji Shaorong who did it.

Ji Heng watched his back as he searched for a water bucket, "The bucket's in the utility room, did you forget again?"

Ji Shaorong chuckled, then glanced around the courtyard before heading to the utility room.

Ji Heng sat on a stool at the doorway, a paper and pen laid on the table.

Bai Lian had just removed her headphones, looking at Ji Heng with his glasses on, sitting alone under the yellow light, his shadow stretching long.

She clutched her headphones, walked over, squatted at his feet, and looked up, "Grandpa."

Ji Heng paused his hand and looked down at her, "What's up?"

"Here," she opened her palm to show him a small blue toy, "I got this with my bubble tea today."

Ji Heng looked at the little blue rabbit in her palm and reached out to take it.

"What do you think of this design, do you like it?" he showed the drawing on the table to Bai Lian.

Bai Lian glanced at it.

It was an exquisite fine brush painting, a plum blossom design, with distinctly clear yellow stamens, vivid and lifelike, "It's beautiful."

"Mm, then I'll have it blocked for tomorrow." Ji Heng looked away, gesturing for Bai Lian to leave, "Go back and read, remember to get up early tomorrow, your uncle will take you to school."

He was referring to Ji Shaojun, the transfer of her school registration had already been handled.

"Okay," Bai Lian stood up, requesting as she returned to her room, "Then after it's blocked, could you make me a poppy next time? I really like them."

"You're still picky?" Ji Heng glanced at her.

Once she entered her room, Ji Heng stayed in place, unmoving for a long time.

Blocked...

Ji Heng hadn't heard that term in ages.

He seemed to have accustomed himself to people liking fashion nowadays, liking haute couture dresses and garments.

No one liked the flowers he embroidered, nor did anyone fancy the clothes he made; the ones he made for Ji Mulan, she didn't take them even when she left home.

He watched Bai Lian's back, then looked down at the small blue rabbit in his palm.

**

Inside the room.

Without the task of washing dishes, Bai Lian felt content; she returned to her room, placed the detached headphones on the table, and the first thing she did was search for the book Jiang He had sent her.

She opened QianDu, searching —

[Jiangjing University Physics]

Yet the results were absurd, everything appeared except "Jiangjing University" and the "Jiangjing University Physics" book, she glanced at the phone screen, even noticing one entry —

[Physics scored 17 points]

Bai Lian: "..."

Classmate, you're amazing.

She returned to WeChat, clicking on Jiang He's avatar, greeting politely —

[.]

On the other end, Jiang He sat on the carpet, clutching a life-sized cabbage pillow, slowly twisting a seven-layer Rubik's cube, the watch on his wrist beeped.

He glanced at it, noticing the sender's avatar was the Xiangcheng Building, his eyes lit up.

Throwing aside the pillow, he tapped his watch. The thin, floating three-dimensional display showed Bai Lian's message.

Bai Jian: [.]

Jiang He replied carefully: [Sister Bai.]

Bai Jian: [I won't be going to the library tomorrow, have classes.]

Jiang He: [Okay.]

Bai Jian: [I can't find the book you sent, not even on Jingbao.]

Jiang He rested his chin on his knees, blinking.

Jiang He: [I'll ask my brother.]

He got up from the carpet and went to the study.

Jiang Fulai was in a video conference, dressed in white loungewear, leaning slightly languidly against the chair back, his cold, pale fingers resting on the table, his faint phoenix eyes lazily lowered, noble yet aloof.

Seeing Jiang He, he slowly straightened up, turned off the camera, and hit mute, "What's going on?"

Jiang He approached, tapping his watch to show him the page.

"Are you asking this for her?" Jiang Fulai raised an eyebrow, the soft loungewear slightly tempering his aloofness.

Jiang He nodded.

Jiang Fulai took the half-solved seven-layer Rubik's cube from him, "I heard you want to go back with them?"

Jiang He nodded again.

Jiang Fulai calmly restored it to its original state, glancing at him sidelong, "No, you can't."

Jiang He watched the Rubik's cube in his hands, but he didn't nod this time.

"Go to sleep," Jiang Fulai returned the cube to him, "I'll have someone bring the book by tomorrow."

This time, the laboratory's detector didn't meet his requirements, he needed one capable of sensitively detecting recoil nuclei.

But the medium of the current lab detector wasn't large enough.

So he was revising the design, ensuring the detector was large-scale and had a low detection energy threshold, leaving not much time.

Luckily, Jiang He recently found a playmate, so he didn't need to be distracted by him.
