Chapter 6 - oh no! running is the way!

Point out any mistakes please.

________

It's the next day and its dungeon diving time. Yesterday, after the whole ordeal was finished and I gave Tione her magic I had gotten another status update, and holy moly it was crazy.

My magic stat jumped all the way to B701 from H189, my endurance stat jumped to F315. My other stats also increased a bit but they weren't by that much. Whatever happened yesterday was extremely impactful.

My only working theory is that when I create entirely new magic spells, my skill may react giving me a boost. At least that's the explanation for the magic increase. The endurance was probably from how it bombarded my body with pain and pressure. I'll have to test out my theories later.

"What's all this?" I asked one of the other adventurers standing near the entrance to Babel.

This time, the person following me into the dungeon is none other than Ais herself and as we reached Babel we see dozens of adventures being rushed out of Babel by their parties or rushing out of by themselves with injuries.

He turned around at my question first freezing at the sight of Ais right next to me then answering.

" oh uhm, apparently it's because of the new monster species that started appearing on the 4th floor. The guild is calling it a evolved or alpha kobold, by itself, a full party can take it down pretty easily. But they travel in packs which is causing issues for a lot of people." The young man explained.

Shit.

I didn't even think about how big this could get. Wait....

Bell! Has he become an adventurer yet? Did he join Hestia? If so, he's going Solo!

Panic hit me like a ton of bricks, it'll totally be my fault if he ends up dying. I don't know the exact reason why this new species came into being, but I'm basically the only variable so it's gotta have something to do with me. Shit.

Okay, okay stay calm. There's a few ways I can go about this, check with the guild see if the Hestia familia has been registered, if not then either he's not an adventurer yet or he joined a different one which most if not all familia's have more than one member at this point so he should be fine, maybe, perhaps.

"Ais! It's an emergency we need to go to guild right away. Carry me and make a dash for it!" I said to her hopping into her arms.

"Okay." She of course didn't know why I was so worried but I was clearly worried for a reason so she accepted.

Placing me into a princess carry she shot off into the direction of the guild. Not wanting to run through the foot traffic she took to the roofs. We cut through the air like a blade, this is probably the fastest I've ever traveled outside of a plane. She zoomed across the Rooftops as if they weren't even there each step taking her across several at a time and before I even knew it we were already at the guild.

As I take a step my legs wobbled and I had to bend down slightly to adjust myself.

'Urg, maybe I should've told her to not go quite that fast.' Standing up straight i notice several adventurers rushing towards the guild as well.

Shit, I can't be getting caught in a line right now.

Rushing into the guild I notice a receptionist was free, and crazily enough, it was Eina.

Jogging over to her desk I ask "Has a familia called the Hestia familia registered yet?"

"Oh good morning miss-"

"Please just answer I'm in a rush here." I said cutting her off. Woman please, I don't have time for pleasantries.

"Yes, they registered just two days ago." Eina answered getting the memo.

Yes! Wait shit!

"Was the adventurer registering named Bell perhaps? I know you guys aren't allowed to reveal adventurer information even if it's just a name but he's a friend of mine and I don't have direct contact with him right now." I asked quickly.

She took a moment to look at my expression and could clearly see my desperation.

"Haaa." Letting out a sigh she continued "I'll only be doing this for you once. Yes the adventurer Bell Cranel is in the Hestia familia."

What a wonderful day today is.

"Thank you and sorry." I said to Eina. Quickly turning to Ais I noticed she had her arms already prepared for me.

"Ais back to the dungeon, we've got a rabbit to save." I said jumping back into the princess carry.

"Yes!"

As we are about to exit a look back at Eina, "oh and good luck with the wave."

The doors of the guild burst open, dozens of adventurers rushing in many of them lightly injured.

Exiting, we took the same on the rooftops and reached Babel in around the same amount of time.

The city was far too big to search every corner for Bell, even with his distinct color scheme. So, the best thing to do is just go into the dungeon, that's also the most likely place for him to be at this time anyways.

We hurried down the stairs, reaching the dungeon in record speed and rushed in.

"You go ahead, it'll be better if we split up, I'll be fine on my own." I said to Ais. Clenching my fist, I formed a small almost bead-like sphere of destruction and passed it to her.

"Hold it with your wind, I'll be able to track you, just throw it at a wall or something when you find him. If you see a white haired and red eyed boy help him out of it looks like he needs it. Only if he really needs it though." I made sure to add the last part simply because of my memory of the series.

Bell is a person who grows under extreme pressure, locking in and winning fights he really shouldn't be. I can't just ruin his cool growing periods right?

She nodded easily and from her expression she seems to be having quite a bit of fun with this as a small smile graced her lips. She probably hasn't been experienced something like this before, rushing around for information to go save someone from a monster.

Accepting the bead of destruction with her wind, Ais took one mighty step and dashed off into the dungeons expanse. In a blink of an eye she was out of view.

I continue my own run, taking a sharp right turn on onto another corridor. As it was still the first floor only a few monsters spawned, the few that did were quickly sliced to bits. I alternate between running and sprinting checking every path I could find, even running past several stairs to the lower floors.

'Can't find anymore paths.' I thought. checking where Ais was, I felt she was seemingly already on her way to the third floor.

'Damn she's fast!'

Although, I myself am only still up here because I was checking every corner I could find.

Pushing my legs, I turn around and booked it back to the stairs I had found earlier. Finding it quickly, I basically jumped down them in my rush. Hopefully I didn't miss him up there.

Dashing once more I do much the same I did on the first floor, alternating between running and sprinting I check every path I could find and occasionally eviscerating some monsters as they spawn, mainly goblins and kobolds with a few dungeon lizards here and there.

"AHHHHH!" A scream suddenly interrupted my focus.

Doesn't sound Like bell… but I can't ignore an obvious death cry.

Rushing towards the scream I see a girl that had fallen down watching as who I assumed to be her adventuring partner being mauled by, from my count, 16 kobolds. There were a few fallen kobold bodies, 3, so he didn't go out without at least a fight.

Flinging my hand forward my crimson wires spread apart, they slithered between the feasting crowd and circled around each of their necks then as I squeeze my hand into a fist, all their head fell to the dungeon floor. My wires contracting and cutting through them all at once.

This is probably my 3rd time seeing a dead human in this world. It felt strange, and a lot different from what I would usually feel before my reincarnation. Before, I was mostly numb but also fearful of death. I didn't want to die but wouldn't really fight back if death came for me, I always wanted to know what came after death, was there truly an after life or was there nothing?

Now I kind of just felt nothing? kind of the only way I can say it. I already knew what death would be in this world, there was nothing to be curious about and nothing to fear. That's one of the reasons I've decided to simply enjoy this life to the max, why I don't really care to hide or be fearful of the consequences my actions could have on this world.

The magic I grant will no doubt cause unprecedented and unpredictable things to happen, and my own power and anymore I may gain in the future will do much the same thing. But, I won't stop, to enjoy life means to take on all its unpredictable variables head on, and whether or not you win or lose, at least you enjoyed the journey. And if there's one thing I'm going to do in this life, it's going to be enjoying it.

!!Ding

The notification of my bead of destruction popping rang in my mind.

Ais found him!

Turning to looking at the girl I saw that she was still in small state of shock.

"Hey." I said getting her attention "I can't really help you get out, as I'm in a bit of a rush, so either you can come with me or take the path I took to get here. If you go straight take the first left then straight then second right then there should be an immediate left which should lead to the stairs to the 1st floor."

Although, it's not really guaranteed to be there, these are still the higher floors, the dungeon doesn't really shift that much up here. She should be fine.

Turning to begin my run towards Ais's location, I first started out jogging just in case the girl ends up deciding to follow me. And well, if she chooses neither and just stays there then not much I can do, if she dies, she dies.

Beginning to run, I analyzed where Ais was. It seems to be the fourth floor, around the middle section.

"Where…ha… are we headed?" I heard the voice of a girl say from behind me.

She decided to follow huh?

"The fourth floor, I'm meeting a friend there." I replied speeding up into a near sprint.

I really need to figure out if I can do mana enhancement or something similar.

"Just stay close or behind me, I'll clear any monsters that we encounter." I said to her heading into a full sprint. She was keeping up pretty easily, I only had 87 in agility anyway.

But with this endurance, I can go full speed for quite some time.

We ran for only a little while until we found a stairwell to the 3rd floor, although… it looks sorta suspicious. It's darker than normal.

Whatever, I'm in a rush anyway.

Walking down it I realize that yeah, this isn't a staircase to the third floor.

"A shortcut to the 4th!" Noticing this immaculate find I started running down the stairs. Which btw, I do not recommend.

It didn't take us long to make it, especially when we stumbled and skipped dozens of stairs at once.

Existing the stairwell we were met with the similar light blue coloring of the wall and lights, meaning we were still on the first 4 floors. Which since that staircase was so long could only mean we're on the 4th floor.

But we are now on a small issue, it's kind of hard trying to triangulate where I currently am to where Ais popped the bead. There were three paths where we popped out and I forgot to keep track of where I was.

"Hyaag!"

"Graaawoo!!"

Seems I didn't need to.

From the middle path I hear the voice of not Bell but what I vaguely recognize and of course the sound of an Alpha kobold.

Running over I quickly see the ending of what I assume to be a pretty intense fight.

____

[Cut-Ais]

She was having fun, she didn't fully get it, but this situation was pretty fun. That also made her feel a little awkward because it's obviously a stressful situation. Maybe it's because she's never really had this kind of feeling before? The urgency to save someone else.

It would be pretty hard for her to encounter such a situation anyway, the only people she really knows is her familia members and they are all pretty strong, so monsters aren't really an issue. And not many people are stupid enough to mess with the Loki familia.

So, as she runs through the dungeon Searching for a white haired, red eyed boy, Ais was enjoying herself.

'Is this how those hero's in the story books feel?' Ais thought. She wasn't quite sure, from the books descriptions, it is usually a far more desperate situation with suspense and drama.

This was dramatic to a degree but she didn't quite feel the suspense.

Using her wind she tore through the first 2 floors, while running she used sent gusts of wind through corners and shafts to make sure nobody was in them without having to slow down.

Reaching the third floor, Ais finally witnessed the new monster that appeared. It kind of reminded her Bete in a way. Other than that though, it didn't look particularly interesting. She ran through, cutting it apart alongside the rest of the kobolds with it.

She ran through this floor much the same as the others not finding much else so she descended to the 4th and after only a little running she encountered a fight that seemed to just have started.

Looking at the humans, it was the white haired boy she was looking for, but he was with another brown haired boy. And they seem to have just started a fight with the new kobold monster.

'She said to only help if it's necessary so I'll just watch for now.'

The white haired one held a single dagger in a forward grip while the brown haired one held a longsword with both hands.

"Try to go for its tendons From the back, I'll take it from the front." The brown haired boy said to the Bell.

Bell nodded in agreement to the plan saying "be careful.."

The two of them fully focused on the beast in front of them, putting their trust in one another to do their tasks.

The alpha kobold, which was alone, shifted into a pouncing stance readying itself. Both sides stared at one another gauging each sides moves.

'…it's smart..? I thought monsters don't think this high up..' Ais thought, noticing this strange behavior.

"Graoo!" The monster roared then pounced at the boys, its jaw opened wide to chomp down on flesh.

Bell slipped to the left instantly as he sees the kobolds legs fully contract and release, before the kobold even fully realized, Bell was already out of its attack range.

The brown haired boy stood his ground his longsword held defensively. The monster reached his position and bit at his throat. He brought his blade up, blocking the bite. However.

*Crack

The sound of something cracking resounded.

"Shit" the brown haired boy said before letting go of the sword and jumping backwards. Luckily he did so too as the claw of the monster came sailing towards where his head was.

"Well, I'm never buying from there again." He said, pulling out the short sword that was strapped to his hip.

He readied himself once more, watching as the kobold dropped the blade it had just cracked with its bite.

Bell, noticing that it was focused on his companion silently inched forward and once he was close enough dashed in, slashing towards the kobolds Achilles.

Though he tried to be as silent as possible the monster still heard, it swiftly turned towards him offsetting his slash to the front of the calf instead. He quickly slipped through the gap in the kobolds legs to avoid the claw strike that came crashing down on his position.

Now they end back up in the situation they started in the two guys standing side by side with monster opposite to them.

"So, this is going to be even harder than we were already expecting." The brown hairs one said.

Nell couldn't help but look at him awkwardly "I, uh, did say we shouldn't have gone down those stairs."

"Yeah, yeah. I know, it's all my fault."

"Grrrr" the kobolds growl made them quickly refocus on it. It reentered its pouncing stance.

"Same plan?" Bell asked.

"Nah, let's switch it. It's too strong for me to take head on even with my skill, we have to coordinate simultaneous attacks." He answered

Nodding bell stayed in position eyes focused.

'It's gained some intelligence, but not much… it forgot he was behind and only reacted because it heard him.' Ais thought picking up on this small detail.

"It's coming" Bell suddenly said

The kobold pounced, leaping from its position and launching a massive claw strike, its claws extending and pushing out to the length of daggers.

Slipping below its attack both boys dashed to opposing sides of the kobold as it landed back on the ground. The brown haired boy on the left and Bell on the right.

Now, the kobold needed to mane a choice, its small mind running faster than its ever have before in its very short life. Who does it go for? The one with the bigger metal Or the one with the smaller one. The bigger one will do more damage, but the smaller one already has done damage. But the smaller ones damage will be far less significant!

Choosing, it decided to turn to the brown haired boy using its claws to black his short sword and grabbing a hold of it.

"Waaaog!" It shouted as it felt Bells dagger stab into its back.

It didn't end there though, reacting quickly Bell pulled his dagger free and stabbed his dagger into the monsters right shoulder severing its tendon.

"Wraaaagaag!" It scream in pain letting go of the the short sword and dashing away.

"Hhahaha! God job Bell! That's what you get for breaking my sword you asshole!" The brown haired boy shouted in excitement.

"Uhm, Ravian… I couldn't pull my dagger out before it dashed away…." Bell said, interrupting his excitement.

They watched as the Kobold reached unto its shoulder and pulled out Bells dagger.

"Grrrrrrrr!" It growled and placed the dagger into its mouth and bit down on it.

*Crack*Shatter

The dagger broke apart under the kobolds bite force, the metal shattering like glass, shards falling from its mouth onto the floor.

"Shit."

"Yeah."

"Graw..Grrrrrrrr" the kobolds right arm hung limply jittering and swinging as it tried to use it. Blood dripped from its wounds painting its black fur a deep red.

It's eyes locked onto them, its snout shifting into a deep snarl anger encompassing its whole being.

The fur on its neck, its mane, began to stick up growing larger and spiked. Then it fell into another stance, not a pouncing one but rather…

"It's com-" before Bell could finish his shout the Kobold had already shot forward, barreling towards them at full speed.

Bell who was able to see it somehow, was able to dodge the strike. The now named Ravian wasn't so lucky, using its entire body weight and spiked mane, the kobold rammed full speed into him.

"Aaaargk!" Ravian cried out in pained

"GRAAAWO" the kobold screamed out using its body to push Ravian into the wall and opened its maw wide to bite into his throat.

"No!"

Just as its jaws were closing a small crimson orb sailed through the air and hit it square in the jaw, blowing it apart and stopping it from closing its mouth.

*whoosh

With a gust of wind, Ais instantly appeared behind the kobold. Grabbing it by its dangling arm she pulled it off of Ravian and through it a few meters away.

"..do you guys want me to finish it for you?" Ais asked, she didn't just want to kill it after all their hard work.

Ravian who was bleeding from most of his front area due to the spikes piercing his light leather armor and skin, though it didn't pierce very deep, barely past the skin barrier, it pierced all over his torso.

Coughing a little he replied "Thanks for the help, but we'll handle it. It's on its last legs anyway."

The kobold was indeed on its last leg. The right side of its jaw blown apart and bleeding heavily, its right arm incapacitated and also bleeding heavily, and the cut on the front of its right calf which was also bleeding, although to a much lighter extent.

It brought itself up onto shaky legs holding its slacked jaw, rage still clear in its eyes.

"I have to release all this energy I just got anyway." A red steam like aura began to flow from Ravian, sword in hand he stood up straight, rolling his shoulders and cracking his neck, preparing to through everything into this last exchange.

Bell also didn't sit still, grabbing the longsword still on the floor. Although it was cracked, it was still usable.

"Ready"

"Set"

"Go!"

At Ravian's words they both charged forward. The energy of the fight has now completely shifted, from them in the defensive to them being on the attack.

The kobold responded with a swipe of its claws at Bell its mind now recognizing him as a true threat. But knowing a little better now, it didn't ignore the other person, while swiping at bell it used its upper body to throw its limp right arm at Ravian. Although this made it so it couldn't put as much force into its good arm, it was better than leaving that side entirely unoccupied.

Bell slipped below the swipe and delivered a slash to its right Achilles tendon, severing it.

"Underestimating me are you?" Ravian said as he dodged the limp arm and delivered an overhead slash to it, cutting it off.

"Graaaawooo!!!" It howled in pain as its arm and tendon was severed.

It fought through the pain a lashed out at Ravian with its remaining arm this time though, he didn't dodge it.

With one hand he blocked the claw strike, taking a hold of it he dragged it between his armpit and side, holding the paw in place.

It desperately tried to break free, trying pulling its arm with all its might, planting its only good leg in place in hopes that it could gather the strength to pull out.

"Can't break free right!? That slam earlier hurt real bad, let me return it to you!"

Ravian raised his sword high and at the same time Bell stabbed the sword into the back of the beast.

"Hyaag!"

"Graaawoo!"

And with a mighty swing, the Alpha Kobolds was decapitated.

"Well look at you two working together, not what I was expecting when I got here honestly" A new voice called out.

________

Hello everyone! I locked in and finished it!

How'd you guys likes it? I think it was good I had to try pretty hard on the fight scene especially because it was two people fighting the same opponent, trying to describe what each person was doing took quite a lot of effort.

I tried hard to make the fight make sense while also showcasing some stuff, it should be obvious but Bell has a skill that he doesn't have it canon, I won't say what it is just yet but it's not too overpowered so don't worry. Not by itself anyway, what'll make it really strong is when he gets his other stuff.

Also, yes, Ravian is going to be relatively relevant. And no, he isn't apart of the Hestia familia. Him and Bell just chose to do dungeon dives together, at least for now. He managed to get accepted into the Ganesha familia.

This is the case for most original named characters by the way, they will have some sort of relevance. So if you see a character that you've never heard of in the original, expect them to do a thing or two relevant to the story.

Also, this is just the partial consequence to her actions. And this just the first monster to gain an evolved/alpha version, this is simply the start and the minor one that reared it's head.

Anyways, see you guys in the next one, good day or night to everyone.
