The arena was already filled with excitement even before the lights went down. The fans were seated and all of the sounds coming from them were the usual. Will IRW bring new drama to the ring tonight? What types of matches will there be? What type of chaos?
Luke Hart and Tony were already sitting in their seats with their popcorn, arguing as usual.
"I swear if tonight is just another case of yelling at each other with no matches to see," tone said, "I'm gonna lose my mind."
Luke was in agreement, saying, "Yeah. I love all the stuff with all of their beef, brawls and everything else....And I guess the 'storyline'.... but dude....I came to watch wrestling... not just watch Maya and Evelyn give each other the stink-eye every week."
Tony gave an incredulous laugh, saying, "Evelyn's the victim and she can give Maya the stink-eye all she wants. Maya's the...."
Tony was cut off when Maya Hart's music came over the arena speakers.
The arena filled with an overwhelming amount of boos directed at Maya Hart. These boos filled the rafters of the arena.
Noah: "And here she comes, the most controversial woman in IRW's history, Maya Hart!"
Irvin: "Controversial? No way! Maya is a genius; she came in and beat the hell out of Evelyn the last time she was in the ring with her, she is a true talent and I respect that."
However, today is unique.
Maya was not without regard to circumstance tonight—fully dressed up as a professional wrestler with all the accouterments.
Did not appear on stage with a microphone.
Didn't start the show with the trademark grin or mischievous tease.
The diva in me has a highly developed soft side; she showed it perfectly to the fans tonight with a very stoic, emotion-free expression.
Luke blinked, "Uhhh… hold on, what's she doing in wrestling gear, she never does this?"
Tony was halfway out of his chair. "No freaking way! ARE WE HAVING A MATCH RIGHT NOW?!"
Maya entered the ring and began pacing around not only in complete attire but also tight, with her fists balled up in front of her.
At that moment…
Evelyn Sharma's entrance music began playing.
The arena erupted with roars of excitement as Evelyn raced from backstage into the ring, also fully dressed in her wrestling gear.
As Evelyn was running down, she pointed directly at Maya while her jaw was clenched and her eyes were burning like fire.
Noah: "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE'VE JUST RECEIVED SOME HUGE NEWS! THIS MATCH IS NOW OFFICIALLY ON!"
Irvin: "WE FINALLY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SETTLE THE SCORE!"
Luke looked at Tony in shock.
"This is what we've been waiting for," Tony said in disbelief.
"At last… someone is about to get their butt kicked!" Luke smiled.
The referee entered the ring, exchanged a quick look with both women—neither blinked.
He rang the bell.
DING DING DING
The arena erupted.
Maya began the match quickly by driving her knee in Evelyn's stomach before she could react, causing Evelyn to bend forward and take a deep breath. Maya grabbed her by her hair and tossed her into the corner.
The crowd cheered for the chops Maya delivered, which shocked many who would typically boo her.
Evelyn stumbled out of the corner where Maya kicked her to the mat. She then got down on her knees beside Evelyn and grabbed her chin, taunting her with words that would prove true before the camera.
"You thought you could take MY spotlight?!"
The crowd booed even more loud than before.
Noah said, "Maya is completely dominating. Those strikes are nasty!"
Irvin responded, "It's all strategy, Noah. She's winning quickly and smartly."
Maya went for a pin-
1…
NO! Evelyn kicked out.
Maya became frustrated and stood back up, pulled Evelyn by her hair, and threw her into the ropes. Evelyn ran back towards Maya, only to get knocked out by a huge forearm to the face.
She went for another pin attempt.
1…
2-kick out!
Maya looked at Evelyn with disdain and yelled, "Stay down!"
Then she climbed the corner turnbuckle-slow, theatrical, smirking as the crowd booed.
She leapt-a diving splash-
Evelyn rolled away.
Maya hit the mat chest-first with a sickening thud.
The crowd let out a loud, collective "OOOH!"
Luke flinched. "Oww… that looked bad."Tony nodded. "She deserved it. Still hurts to watch."
Maya groaned, clutching her ribs.
Evelyn slowly pushed herself up as the crowd clapped rhythmically to will her to her feet.
Evelyn made her attack, executing a dropkick on Maya, sending Maya backward onto the floor. Evelyn then followed with another dropkick and a blow to the head.
"I'm telling you, she's back in the game!" exclaimed Noah, while Irvin expressed his concern for Maya's safety because of her injuries from the previous impact.
Evelyn Irish whipped Maya into the ropes and caught her with a beautiful spinning elbow. Maya stumbled into the ropes and rolled out of the ring instinctively.
Evelyn immediately chased after Maya, grabbing her by the hair as she was getting back on her feet, but Maya quickly pushed Evelyn away and made her fall to the mat. Within seconds of falling to the mat, Evelyn jumped back up and yelled at Maya to get back up. Again, Evelyn charged at Maya.
Maya lifted the ring skirt as Evelyn came running at her, grabbing for something metallic with shaky hands.
Everyone in the audience gasped.
A folded-up steel chair.
Luke's eyes grew wide with fear. "Oh crap. Maya... please don't."
Tony stood up. "Oh hell NO!"
Evelyn's view was blocked so she swung at Maya with all her might.
Maya was able to get under Evelyn's arm and continued to swing.
The chair CRACKED against Evelyn's ribs in a devastating blow.
Evelyn screamed as the audience erupted in anger over what had just happened.
Noah: "You have got to be kidding me! That's a DISQUALIFICATION!"
Irvin: "Smart move. Really smart. You'll take the penalty on your record but you'll win the war in the end."
The referee immediately called for the bell to end the match.
DING DING DING.
The match was over, but Maya was still in the arena.
Evelyn was dazed from the fight, she lied next to the barricade with a cough. Maya stared at her with a blank face and cold eyes.
The crowd was screaming insults at her, and boos and jeers shook all of the arena floor.
Then, Maya saw Tony.
Tony pointed at Maya while leaning over the barricade directly to her. "YOU CHEATER! NO COWARD! YOU CAN'T WIN IF YOU'RE NOT A WINNER!"
Maya blinked as she felt a twisting sensation in her chest.
Then she looked at—
Luke.
Her brother was looking at her with an open mouth, wide eyes, and confusion and betrayal.
Maya's facade broke, and she looked at Luke, her pupils dilated and faced with emotion—was it guilt? Pain? Regret?
The answer to this would only be known for a very short time.
Evelyn groaned as she pushed herself off of the barricade.
In an instant, on her return to form, Maya went back to how she had been before.
Maya took Evelyn by the hair and pulled her and then—
THUMP!
Maya smashed her head into the other barricade.
The officials quickly rushed to Maya and grabbed her.
The arena drowned in thunderous boos for Maya.
After the incident, Maya was in the middle of the arena, out of breath, with the hair covering her face, and her hands trembling slightly as the officials protected Evelyn.
Noah: "This is disgusting behavior! Evelyn may have cracked ribs after that impact!"Irvin: "This is what a winner looks like, Noah. Maya's proving she doesn't take disrespect."
Maya looked once more—briefly—at Luke.
He looked away.
Her lips trembled.
But then she straightened, wiped her face, and walked up the ramp without looking back.
The screen faded to black as the show cut to commercial.
