Upon entering the commander's city, a thick tension filled the air. The silence was deafening as I knocked on his door, wondering why he had summoned me.
"Come in," a voice commanded. My heart raced with anticipation, and I entered the hall with Sara. My eyes landed on a woman, yes she was the one I say fron distance—her beauty was unparalleled. Her eyes were as blue as the ocean, her lips a soft pink, and her skin was flawless. She looked at me, not with warmth but with anger.
"You are Neir Alaric's son, right?" she asked accusingly.
"Yes, it's me," I replied, trying to keep my composure.
She said, "so u are not de--"
The commander interjected, "Enough, Anna. I apologize for her behavior."
I was shocked why she said like that, we never meet or know each other...
"It's okay,I said, but why did you call me here?" I inquired.
"I want to tell you a story—a tragic tale that explains why you're facing this hate," the commander explained.
Anna interjected again, "He should know why he's being hated and should leave our clan."
"Enough, Anna!" the commander's voice thundered.
Despite Anna's outburst, the commander continued, "Don't mind her. You'll understand after hearing the story."
"What is this story about?" I asked.
"It's about your father, and how he is the reason for the hate you're experiencing," he replied.
"My father? But he was kind and strong, wasn't he?" I protested.
"Indeed, but he committed a sin that changed his reputation," the commander said gravely.
"A sin? What sin? My grandfather never told me about this!" I exclaimed.
"I believe he didn't want to speak of it. Did he ever tell you how he died?" the commander questioned.
"No, he always avoided that question," I answered.
The commander sighed, "Then I will tell you everything."
He retrieved a book and began, "I can never forget that night... The Story of Sacrifice."
Around 200 AD, June 27th
The rain poured heavily, the night shrouded in darkness without a hint of moonlight.
"Twenty-one days prior, news spread of kidnappings—young girls aged 14-26, and then 15 males and 15 females from various cities from our tribe went missing. On the 27th, Sofia, a village leader, disappeared," the commander began.
"Why are you telling me all this?" I interrupted, growing impatient.
"Because the kidnapper was none other than your father," he dropped the bombshell.
"What? But why would he do such a thing?" I was stunned into silence.
"On the night of July 27th, your father conducted a ritual. The ritual required 30 people from his own tribe, one strong city leader, and himself. If performed correctly, the tribe would never be destroy or fall a part. He kidnapped the required people and proceeded with the ritual. He invited all the citizens and soldiers and mixed sleeping pills in their food to ensure no interruptions," the commander continued.
"He then began the ritual with a witch, who may still reside in the city. He stripped the captives and one by one, he beheaded them in the sacrificial area near the statue of Odin. The ground was awash with blood, and the rain made it look like a pool of blood. Finally, he chose his last sacrifice—Sofia, Anna's mother," the commander recounted.
Understanding dawned on me. I now knew the reason for Anna's hatred towards me. I had never imagined my father capable of such a heinous act.
"I'm sorry, but I'm doing this for the tribe," my father, Nier Alaric, had said.
"I know, but are you sure about this? Is there no other way?" Sofia had replied.
"Yes, I know everyone will die in the battle with EIHJ, and I have to do this," he had rationalized.
With that, he tied Sofia to a long stake, and in the sacrificial area, he burned her alive before sacrificing himself.
Then a strong wave of wind flow across the tribe and the Odin was sealed forever.
I had seen a red seal outside the window, recognizing the sign from my recent reading. We rushed to his town, but it was too late. All we found was blood. The next day, the citizens discovered the horrifying truth and banished us, sealing themselves off from the outside world forever.
With the shocking revelation of my father's deeds, the weight of the truth pressed heavily on my heart.
I left the hall in shock, not saying a word until I reached home. I secluded myself, not speaking to anyone and didn't eating for four days.
The door opened, and Sara walked in. "How much longer are you going to stay like this?" she asked, sitting beside me.
"What should I do? No one will believe in me now," I replied.
"I know, but I want to say just one thing—I believe in you. Everyone needs you in this village. Remember how you said you will overcome every challenge you face? Treat this like a quest in a game. Show them you are not your father; you are you, and you will make this city shine with glory again."
I was easy to motivate, and she was right. I was here to become the greatest Viking, not to cry. I decided to give a speech.
"Hey, Sara, call everyone this evening," I said.
That evening, everyone gathered in front of the chief's hall.
"I assume you all know me and what my father did," I began. The crowd fell silent.
"Yeah, and that's why we want you to leave!" a man shouted, sparking a cacophony of agreement.
"I am not here to leave; I am here to be the greatest Viking, and for that, I need all of you," I declared.
The crowd laughed and scoffed.
"I know about my father's deeds, but I am not him. I am a different person, and I will continue this city's story and restore its glory to become the biggest city in the land. If we work together, we can free Odin. I don't want to hear any objections; I know it's hard to trust again, but you have to. If you don't want to, I will go alone, free him, and liberate this town from my father's deeds."
Silence fell upon the crowd.
as I finished speaking. The weight of the silence was almost suffocating. No one said a word; they just stared at me with a mixture of disbelief, anger, and confusion.
Feeling defeated, I turned to leave, accepting that my words had fallen on deaf ears. But as I walked away, a soft voice from the crowd broke the silence.
"I believe in you," the voice said. It was Sara. She stepped forward, standing by my side. "And I'm not the only one," she added, looking around the crowd.
One by one, others began to speak up in support. "He's not his father," an old man from the village said. "We need to give him a chance," a younger villager added.
Encouraged by the growing support, I turned back to face the crowd. "Thank you," I said, my voice filled with emotion. "I promise you won't regret this."
The next morning, I was awakened by the sound of hammers and saws. I stepped outside to find the village buzzing with activity. Women were working alongside men, children were playing, and there was a newfound energy in the air.
A man greeted me, "Good morning, Chief. We are working on the walls and soldiers' camp area. What should we work on next?"
I was stunned. Sara approached me with a smile, "I think your speech worked. That man is the old commander."
I greeted the old commander warmly, and he said, "Please help us reach our old glory and reputation. We all will be in your debt."
Later that day, the villagers gathered and crowned me the chief of the town. Everything was happening so fast, and I was overwhelmed with happiness.
"Now, I will make the town shine with glory again, and I need all of you for this. Together, we can do it," I declared.
Everyone was ecstatic and got back to work with renewed vigor. Sara came up to me and said, "I told you, you could do this!"
With everyone working together, we rebuilt the town. In just one month, Anna was sitting atop the town hall in her town, witnessing the sudden rise in the might of the clan. Yes, it was our work, our unity.
The commander "might of 200 million in just one month, there team is truly different from ours.
With over 200 million might, thanks to all the citizens and the old commander, I had it easy. But now, the real challenge awaited us. We had to free Odin, and I knew it would not be an easy task. And here, I want to end this season.
