Chapter 172 - 31

Chapter 31: Psionic Bomb | Monsters Are Coming

Returning to his workshop, Qin Ye began testing the power of the Psionic Bomb.

He placed it on the workbench, where four mechanical arms at the corners automatically began operating according to preset programs, swiftly moving around the Psionic Bomb crystal.

A floating virtual screen in the upper right corner displayed the fluctuating energy intensity readings.

According to the energy feedback data, the power value of the Psionic Bomb was only 10.92, far less than the enormous power the Green Sprite merchant had claimed.

But the initial test wasn't enough to prove anything. Qin Ye immediately took the Psionic Bomb to the hazardous material disposal area of Zone D.

After verifying his identity and entering the sealed chamber, he placed the Psionic Bomb in the center of the destruction room, then retreated to the observation booth, monitoring the explosion through transparent glass.

When he pressed the green rune in his hand, the energy shield within the destruction room activated, and a blinding white light instantly obscured his vision.

Boom!

The ground shook briefly, then everything returned to calm.

Data on the energy fluctuations from the explosion appeared on the destruction room's transparent glass, displaying a value of 1228.

Its power had increased more than a hundredfold compared to the initial reading.

This discovery filled Qin Ye with excitement.

When purchasing, the Green Sprite had mentioned that the Psionic Bomb was extremely easy to make. As long as one mastered the production technique, a Psionic Bomb could be quickly crafted on the battlefield using energy crystals.

In recent years, more and more alien forces had arrived, some of them hostile invaders.

Technology that could be used in real combat was exactly what he needed.

Qin Ye immediately left the destruction room and found the Green Sprite merchant still selling various items at his stall.

When he expressed his desire to purchase the technology, the Green Sprite merchant raised a finger and said through the translator hanging from his neck.

"One hundred thousand Earth credits."

"Are you trying to rob me?!"

"Hey, considering our relationship, I gave you a 30% discount on the Psionic Bomb itself, but buying the technology is a different matter. A hundred thousand Earth credits isn't expensive for this. I know you have the authority to approve tech purchases under one million; this amount isn't a problem for you."

"How do you know my procurement limit?" Qin Ye's eyes widened.

Realizing he had slipped, the Green Sprite merchant immediately fell silent.

"You've planted spies inside the Human Federation?" Qin Ye continued probing.

"Absolutely not. Our Green Sprite Race maintains good relations with the humans. This information was purchased externally."

"Where did you buy it?"

"No comment. We Green Sprites value honesty the most… So, are you buying the tech or not?"

Realizing he wouldn't get any useful intelligence out of him, Qin Ye stopped pressing and nodded.

"I'll buy it, but the price needs to come down."

After some bargaining, Qin Ye finally acquired the Psionic Bomb production technology for seventy thousand Earth Credits.

Returning to his workshop with the sealed green data sphere, Qin Ye eagerly began testing and experimenting.

The manufacturing process was actually quite simple: by using consciousness imprinting to alter the internal structure of the Psionic Bomb and leaving behind a conscious trigger to set off the explosion.

However, during testing, Qin Ye quickly ran into a serious problem.

He used a consciousness amplifier to assist in the imprinting process, but halfway through he became dizzy and was unable to continue.

"Damn!"

Suddenly, Qin Ye realized a major issue.

The Green Sprite Race could easily produce Psionic Bombs, but the mental strength of humans might not be sufficient.

The technique seemed simple and practical, but it was only viable for mass production in a weapons factory. Human soldiers couldn't casually craft Psionic Bombs using consciousness imprinting like the Green Sprites could.

Qin Ye's expression immediately turned bitter.

He had already spent seventy thousand Earth credits, and a refund was out of the question.

Now he faced two options: cover the procurement error with his own savings or submit a procurement report to his superiors explaining the mistake.

Without hesitation, Qin Ye chose to cover the shortfall with his own savings.

If money could solve the problem, he would never trouble his superiors.

His family hadn't offered him much career support, but at least he didn't have to worry about financial constraints.

Sitting dejectedly in his workshop, Qin Ye sighed heavily.

In his view, the Psionic Bomb technology was entirely useless, far less practical than he had imagined.

For mass production, the Human Federation already had better alternatives.

Glancing at the clock on the wall, he realized his resurrection cooldown had ended. He immediately stood up and headed toward the game pod.

At that moment, a sudden flash of inspiration struck him.

The game Dark Land, created by the Lunar Eclipse Race, was 100% realistic. The psionic materials inside the game theoretically had no difference from reality. The issue of human mental weakness didn't apply in-game.

Because monster forms could significantly enhance his mental strength.

For example, Bonefire and Owl-Headed Fiend were both monster forms with mental strength several times greater than that of a human.

So, could this technology be applied inside the game?

"Let's give it a try!"

With that thought, Qin Ye immediately decided to log in and conduct a practical test.

Upon logging in, he appeared at the resurrection point in Emperor's Mound Village. Checking his balance, he saw he still had 232 Sacrificial Power points.

Two hundred of those points had been acquired using credit coins.

Opening the item shop panel, he searched for energy stones.

After typing 'energy stone' into the search bar, the page automatically jumped to the relevant product list.

After some comparison, Qin Ye selected the cheapest level 1 energy stones as his test material, each priced at 30 Sacrificial Power points. He purchased five in one go.

Once purchased, the items automatically entered his personal inventory.

He retrieved one and found an empty clearing in Emperor's Mound Village to begin testing.

The imprinting process required powerful mental input, something his human form couldn't handle. He decisively switched to his Owl-Headed Fiend form.

Projecting his consciousness outward, he could clearly see the internal particle structure of the energy stone under perception mode.

Following the Green Sprite's provided energy particle structure diagram, he began rearranging the particles.

A few minutes later.

Boom!

With a loud explosion, the unstable structure caused the level 1 energy stone to instantly detonate. Qin Ye's vision went black as a game notification popped up in his mind.

[Challenger Notification: You have entered resurrection cooldown!]

[Challenger Notification: You caused environmental damage to Emperor's Mound Village. 13 Sacrificial Power points have been automatically deducted for repairs.]

Qin Ye: "…"

Staring at the screen gradually turning black, Qin Ye's resentment toward the resurrection cooldown system flared up again.

After finally waiting for the cooldown to end, he was forced offline less than five minutes into the game.

"Damn Lunar Eclipse Race, what a garbage game!"

While cursing inwardly, Qin Ye nonetheless grew even more eager for his next login.

Because he had confirmed his hypothesis.

Dark Land truly could perfectly simulate reality, and the Green Sprite's Psionic Bomb technology could absolutely be applied in-game.

As for this accidental explosion, it was purely due to his lack of skill and could be improved with practice.
