Chapter 2 - Return (1)

It was a regular day that much I can remember.

I had just come back from working my final shift at the supermarket. With the amount of money I had made I was sure that I didn't have to worry about money when I was in university. So I decided to relax as I had about a week before university started.

When I laid on the sofa to take a nap I felt something was…wrong.

Although I couldn't really describe the feeling as I was dead tired and could barely feel it, but it was there.

When I opened my eyes again, however, I wasn't in my house but rather in a barren land…

***

Closing my eyes while I laid on my sofa I let out a breath as I felt my sore back. I tried to sleep but that changed the next second.

Instead of feeling the comfort of my sofa, I felt a very rough feeling on my back. Opening my eyes out of frustration I stared into the bright blue sky.

'Huh?'

I quickly got up and started to look around the area. I wasn't in my living room but rather an open field.

"Where am I?"

***

After I woke up there I made it to a small town where I was dragged to some sort of boot camp. Then I was thrown to the frontlines of the war. I had to kill to survive.

Even though I wanted to believe, and pray for this to be a dream. However, the pain, smell and screams told me I wasn't dreaming. It took me a while but I was able to adapt that wasn't all though…in fact, I discovered something that could help me return home.

Magic.

After the army found out that I had a talent for magic I was shipped to some sort of magic tower where I was able to learn about magic. However, that place was basically a high school for mean girls. Power didn't matter, instead, they were ranked on their bloodline.

So you can imagine the treatment I got as a "commoner".

But in the end, I surpassed everyone including the instructors in magic before I left. I didn't know why but magic came easy to me and later I also learned some martial arts.

While magic was powerful there were many threats that could nullify my magic so I had to use other means of killing them.

After a few years, I was able to make a name for myself.

No one knew who I was however, I was considered a myth on the battlefield.

It was after a certain incident I was sent to the edge of where the abyss started allowing me to kill and gain more power.

After many events, I was able to push the abyss back and get stronger while gaining magic in the process. Once the abyss reached a certain point he arrived.

The great Calamity was more powerful than I expected however, even though I was insanely powerful I lost.

I had to spend a few more years gaining power and knowledge in order to go home.

It had taken me about 36 years but I had gained both power and knowledge to go home

And the great Calamity was the key.

***

Breathing heavily I felt my bones crack back into place as my mangled arm regenerated. Looking in front of me at the barren waste land I saw a figure standing at least 3 meters tall glaring at me. It had light grey skin that had tattoos all over his left chest to his left arm.

Its right hand was different with a dark red colour with purple lines running through it resembling veins.

"You damned cockroach" snarling I felt the mana in the air change as it raised its hand before I felt a sudden pressure on me. Reinforcing my body with mana I made the mana particles around to move quickly in the air.

The next second I shot toward the great calamity like a bullet. My fist made contact with its face causing it to stagger back however, it then grabbed my hand. Feeling the tight grip I didn't flinch but I then saw that it was preparing its right arm to attack.

Using my remaining mana I used a wind spell to push me upward. Thanks to its iron-like grip I had to snap my arm causing the sound of bones to fill my ear.

As it tried to react the shadows beneath the great calamity moved wrapping around it. However, the next second the tendrils of shadow shattered like glass. Using my wind magic again, my leg hit the face of the great calamity.

Reeling back it staggered giving me the opportunity to get free by cutting off my arm. Jumping back I activate another spell causing blades of pure mana to appear and head toward the great calamity.

The blades shot toward it with a tremendous speed. However, as they approached the spell shattered into light particles causing me to curse.

"shit, I thought it would've disappeared by now," Grumbling I couldn't help but clench my teeth

Feeling my regenerated arm, a white hue began to surround me as the great calamity raised its hand. The next second he brought it down causing me to instantly jump to the side. The place I was standing was obliterated. The air visibly shook, causing cold sweat to pour down my back.

Swinging its arm again, I watched as the floor in front of me was obliterated. Using my increasing mana supply I used a teleportation spell. A weird feeling enveloped me, something I had already grown used to before my vision changed to show me the back of the giant human-like creature

A golden glow began to surround me causing a warm feeling to envelop me. The glow intensified causing my soare limbs to feel amazing. Running toward the Great Calamity a golden sword appeared in my hand.

When I gripped the sword, white lines appeared in my vision connecting to the great calamity.

Following one of those lines I swung my blade. As it was ripping through the air and was getting closer and closer something happened that shocked me.

All of the white lines shattered.

My golden blade vanished, causing my golden glow to expand before I launched a punch.

The great calamity tried to raise its hand however, dark purple chains sprouted out of the ground holding it back for a second giving my fist the time to connect with its shoulder.

When my fist connected the entire shoulder was destroyed and created a gaping hole on the side of the great calamity.

"Ah! You damn pest!"

However, I noticed that its right arm was also gone or was no longer connected to its body.

A white hue surrounded my body before I then punched the great calamity again. This time though, it fell. Taking the opportunity I began to rain punch down on it while cursing at it.

After a bit, I let out a breath.

"Ha, finally-"

A sudden force descended upon me and due to my weak state I was pushed down with ease.

"You fucker!" I cursed trying to pull myself upward.

"If I'm dying then I'm taking you with me you damned cockroach!"

I then felt the mana in the air start to vibrate before I saw the body of the great calamity start to develop a slight red glow.

Seeing this my face turned white.

"Stop this, you crazy bastard!" I shouted

However, it just laughed.

'Damn it, I don't have a choice'

A sudden magic circle appeared beneath us attracting the mana in the atmosphere. The purplish-blue circle grew bigger but soon a slight red hue surrounded it.

The circle started to glow brighter before a sharp pain started to spread from my chest. I continued to curse at the great calamity while it cursed at me. The next second my vision turned black.

The next moment I felt a cold wind on my face. Suddenly I opened my eyes before the wind hit my eyeballs causing me to shut them again

However, the small glimpses I saw made my heart race.

I was in the fucking sky!

I quickly enhanced my entire body with my battle aura before creating a layer of mana over my body. After a few seconds, I felt my body hit the ground before I started to roll and kept falling.

The next thing I knew I felt a wet sensation on my face causing me to open my eyes. In my field of view, I saw a deer.

A normal deer! No black fur, crimson eyes, devil horns, just a regular fucking deer.

Quickly getting up I looked around to see a trail of destruction. The cracking of bones filled my ears and looking down I saw my legs falling back into place. Quickly getting up I stumbled however, was unable to stand. The deer, on the other hand, ran away.

When I turned around I froze.

A city.

Not some old cities made with bricks with a castle but a full city with tall buildings and all. I quickly activated my spacial storage a rectangular object fell in my hand.

It was my phone.

Pressing the power button I watched as it turned on and revealed a small bar of service. When I saw that couldn't help but hold back my tears.

"I'm fucking home!"

Shouting that I let a laugh as I sat down but the next thing I knew I was crushed by something heavy.

However, the thing seemed to have rolled off causing me to curse as I got up.

"Fuck what-" I froze as I saw what fell on top of me.

A body.

A giant body was lying on the floor in front of me. But it wasn't just any regular body. White hair down to its shoulders, ash-grey skin, one black arm covered in purple lines, and a body that looked like a Greek god…

Yup, there was no mistaking it…other than the grey skin this body was the body of the great calamity.
