The little boy had no idea what this Häagen-Dazs ice cream was. He'd been sitting on the train for so long and had seen that, besides selling boxed meals and snacks, the attendant would take that thing called ice cream out separately to sell.
He had never eaten ice cream before. Just now he saw a kid in the carriage who wanted some; her mom said it was too expensive and coaxed her, saying once they got off the train, she'd buy her some other ice cream to eat.
So he wanted to taste what that ice cream, the one they sold separately, was like.
When the middle‑aged man saw the kid had ordered so many things, his face froze up. "Too expensive! This boxed meal is way too expensive!"
The little boy let out a muffled wailing protest.
