Cherreads

Chapter 426 - 85

About the money making...I have started to think I'm going about it the wrong way. Doing any kind of business in the muggle world before I turn 18 is a fucking pain.

But I do got access to a place that don't care what age I am. Wizards don't care about my age when it come to business.

And I checked things out with the law and having a mastery apparently make me a adult in some ways.

I still cant cast outside of school, but I am able to buy and sell land and set up stores and businesses.

Now I just need something to sell. Something all wizards need and that I can produce in bulk...something that are used up over time and that nobody else make like I do.

Ideas? I was thinking of floo powder but I have been unable to analyze it...besides, that market is kind of cornered.

Maybe mass produce cheap potions? Golem arms can stir and chop and everything without problem...I'm thinking bulk is the way to go to make money. WizardMart?

Either way, I have access to That Library, at least the times I can sneak around The Red Dragon. Honestly, she mean well but its getting on my nerves. Cleaning without magic?

Fuck that, Zip had the room done in minutes.

Also, Zip let me read in my room while getting books...and honestly, I get why she don't want kids reading some of this stuff. Some of is on the Black side of Grey. The very, very, very Black side of Grey. Why would anyone EVER need a eye inversion curse? Ick.

Yesterday we where out buying books and other things for school. I got a baaad feeling about DADA. The book was theoretical drivel...Honestly, some of the theory parts are solid but the rest are ministry propaganda.

Why the Ministry would assign her to Hogwarts when its not out V is back, I got no idea...

Dinner is ready, got to go.

So I'm back in school and I was indeed made a prefect. I also forgot to tell you my grades.

I got O in all but history.

Also, since last report I also talked to the twins again about their joke shop. They showed me samples and they are honestly pretty impressive. I think they are as good as me in charms and acually better in potions! Why the fools never got their grades early I will never know..

Oh wait, I do know.

Gryffindors.

Either way I offered to sponsor their shop when they open up, providing a budget of a thousand galeons in return for 10% of all profits in the future and owning 10% of the store. We had a contract drawn up and its signed and ready.

Speaking of making money...You remember those Gou'uld teleport rings? I'm pretty sure I can pull something like that off with magic. Not only would they be more practical than the floo, they look magical and impressive so its something to sell to the rich.

Tomorrow I'm going to get working in the CoS on a potion manufacturing line. I want to see if it work and crunch some numbers before seeing about opening a potion outlet in the alley or village.

Also, her toadness was indeed the new DADA teacher. Also oh god...she look even more horrible than in the movie...all that pink...all that pink.

If she try and use that quill on me she wont survive the year. What a tragic accident.

And if she try it on Hermione I will personally MURDER that toad.

Besides that, not much have happened. I couldn't find Kreacher and when asked Black about why he don't have a elf as he is part of a old family he shrugged and said that the old one died years ago and he haven't gotten around replacing it yet.

Also, honestly I'm thinking of simply owling dumbles the diadem anonymously with a note of 'dark magic' on it. That let me get rid of the damn thing in a safe way.

As for Flich...honestly I am thinking of offering him a job at first in the potion store. Actually, I checked into potions...nobody sell them openly! If you want a potion you either go and pay a master or you buy ingredients and make it yourself. I was so surprised I actually checked if there was any laws against selling potions like this.

There isn't.

So if the numbers work out, I will be mass producing cheap potions. Stasis bottles dont work on high magic stuff like wolfsbane but stuff like boil removing? That stuff keep fresh for years in a stasis bottle.

Also, about Flich's level of runes...he would likely be able to pass his OWLs at least. I said 'if' as squibs are not allowed to take them. Hell, he is likely halfway to NEWTs when it come to practical applications.

Anyway, i'm heading to class now. Double DADA as during the morning.

Lets see if she survive the experience.

That woman will be 'dealt with'. That horrible excuse of a class belong in sodding Best Korea for all the propaganda she spews.

I have a idea though. I have located a potion. Its a skin clearing potion with a unfortunate side effect. If taken together with something addictive, like say...alcohol it increase the addictive properties twentyfold. This potion also happen to be one of the few that's clear, tasteless and without a smell.

I suspect somebody is soon going to get a anonymous gift of a bottle of wine in the mail. Let's see how long she can keep her job when constantly shit faced.

Also, the projected profit margin of the store is above 30%. Granted, that's best possible scenario but even the worst numbers still show me making a profit. I talked to Filch about it and he is all for it. For one thing his wages would double.

While he was hesitant as it would mean he wouldn't be able to make runes out of a highly magical enviroment, I told him to try in in the alley. It worked there to even if it took ten times longer for him to charge the runes.

As of two days ago Arcanotech is a registered company at the Ministry.

I have listened around and there is a place for sale in the alley, its even a old cauldron store.(Really? They got stores for just cauldrons but nothing for just potions!?) at a asking price of 100 galeons a month in rent.

Let me say this clearly: I will not nuke the ministry. For one thing its in central London. Besides, doing something like that would get Hermione mad at me.

Also talked with Harry about learning occlumency. Turns out hermione have been teaching him since the summer, not that it have helped. I guess that make sense as V got a backdoor. We kept talking and it turns out he have been having dreams since summer before forth year, but didn't tell anyone.

That little moron. This is the chosen one?

We are Doomed.

PS: I mailed the damn diadem to dumbles.

October 10. 1995

Filch have rendered his resignation stating that he was thankful for the job but have found better opportunities elsewhere. He left the castle two days later and went and became a employee running a store in Diagon alley for the newly founded Arcanotech, selling mass produced potions at cheap, cheap prices.

The market is...surprisingly big. Unless you are poorer than the Weasleys, are you going to spend two hours to make a hair straightening potion or are you going to buy a liter of the stuff for ten Sickles?

Buying hundreds of pounds of a potion ingredient at once make it possible for us to talk the price down a ton. The simple ingredients we use almost keep indefinably under a stasis field.

Selling cheap, mass produced potions at cheap prices, we are making a killing. Three days into it we had sold enough to cover half the rent. Five days into it we had the rent covered and could work on getting back what we spent on ingredients.

I had to put up more cauldrons just to keep up. I also started selling empty and ready to use stasis bottles...but only after looking up the anti cheating runes! That was pretty brilliant if I say so myself. Using the same spell that they use to keep us from cheating during exams in a rune form built into the rune array keep it from being stolen! That's going into every array I make in the future!

Why the HELL didn't we think of that before!?

Also, the plan with Her Imperial Toadness is going ahead nicely. There is indeed sobering potions, but they don't remove the addiction, just make her sober...and it give you a instant hangover. She is now shitfaced when she isn't teaching class before downing a sobering potion and a anti pain potion before she go and teach the class.

She then run of to find something to drink as soon as possible. I also had Zip lace her nougat with the same potion. Sugar is after all somewhat addictive. She have started to put on the pounds...

Remember, you don't need to kill someone to utterly destroy them. Wonder how long it will take before she stop caring about if she teaches drunk or not.

Well, enough about her. I mentioned the idea about having a tutor group to teach defense but I am to busy to run it. She thought about doing it but it would cut into personal study time so she passed it on to Harry, teaching him is faster than teaching everyone...and then he can teach them.

The NOD(No Other Defense) club is to have its first meeting tomorrow. And yes, I named it instead of Harry or Hermione. Problem? (troll face here).

About the Teleport rings(the gou'uld style ones, I need a better name) I have been making some scale model progress. I still got some problems with the nexus system(basically there will be a central control system meaning that even if someone break through the anti cheating runes, they will be unable to use the runes. It will use a similar challenge answer authentication system as a computer network.)

Its giving me a bit of problem but I should be able to solve it easily enough.

The reason to why I want these working instead of the mirror thing is that these things make it easy to move cargo even when its not shrunk. It can also move a entire family at once.

We have started to rake in the profit on the potion sales. If it continue like this the company will be making about a 500 to 700 galeons of profit a month after rent and ingredient buying. Not bad at all.

Also, Filch is loving his new job. He not only look much happier, he are also wearing nice new robes and got himself a personal elf to handle the magical needs he cant do with pre prepared rune gadgets.

I picked up another pair of elfs to keep a eye on the brewing automation and other things called Melly and Derpy(Yes I know. At this point Q is just plain trolling.). Zip is currently teaching them up to his level before they are allowed to assist.

I think I solved the problem with the control nexus. It will require some more time of RnD to make sure but I can now put a rabbit on circle one, press a button and the rings fly up and there is a flash before the rings go back down. A second later the rings go up on the other site, there is a flash and the rabbit are there before the rings go back into the floor.

I'm going to add a hand held dialing system and a security system that check if the person dialing is on the approved list.

As for Her Toadness she is now trying to hide the fact that she drink during class. She is actually a better teacher while drunk as it mean she talk less. She have also stopped coming to dinner, Zip reporting that she prefer chocolate and Firewhiskey. She drink like two or three bottles a day.

Those things isn't cheap, they cost like give to ten galeons each depending on quality.

NOD is going well and got a good turnout of students, around thirty people. Harry got them practicing dueling with stunners, body binds and disarmament along with protego shields. A good decent foundation. At my suggestion he also added jogging around the grounds on a few mornings of the week.

There was a few complaints but after having it explained to them(in small words) that being able to run away from the people trying to AK you is a good idea.

Seriously, Hogwarts is mean to be the UK elite school for the very gifted and/or rich. THIS is the best the wizarding world have to offer? Seriously?

Well that would certainly explain why things are like they are.

Also, I had a cursory look about what would be needed for a patronus golem. The entire thing look horribly complex. It 'should' be possible in theory but...

We will see if I got time among everything else that demand my attention or the world will end.

I have started to harvest the basilisk which is horribly slow work as I need to be so damn careful. Its not only the poison that's toxic, its the blood to. Its like trying to skin a xenomorph!

I have constructed a simple voice controlled golem to do the work while I stand back but its slow and I need to keep replacing the hands. The damn blood eat through enchantments just as easy as stone. Currently I'm storing the blood in containers made from its own damn skin, what I will do with it...hell if I know.

December 22, 1995

Its my sad duty to inform you that Madame Umbit...Umbridge have been forced to resign from her position as Defense against Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry due to personal reasons.

Unless a new teacher are located by the start of the next year Headmaster Dumbledore will fill in.

Operation: Successful.

Also, I have been thinking about what you say about the purebloods. And you are right, there is not much I could do to stop them from taking over...so the current plan is this.

I will approach the Weasleys, Longbottoms, Blacks and Bones with a contract offering to let them buy into Arcanotech. They would be silent partners each family owning 5% and receiving 5% each of the profit after things like wages and such have been payed.

I would still have full control of Arcanotech.

The price to buy in will be Ten Thousand Galeons, but it can be payed in two ways.

Either up front or from the 5% they would normally have gotten if they payed up front. If they pick the second option, in ten years or so they will start raking in the money...if things continue like they are now with one store.

The second option is also very, VERY safe for them.

I plan to offer these families the contracts during winter break. While in total it will lessen the profit by a total of 20%, I see it as Pureblood tax. One of those families the other purebloods could roll straight over, but that much 'pure blood mass'? No, I don't think so.

Also, I have started to think about expanding. I have already made back the investment I did into the potion store. Making expensive stuff to sell? No, the way to make money is Bulk, Cheap and Quality.

I'll take a lesson from the muggles here. I'm going to contact lupin over the holidays about the possibility of opening a fast food place in Hogsmeade.

The MacDonalds of the wizarding world.

Cheap food of good, even quality so you always know what you get that's not only pretty ok tasting, but also contain large amounts of mildly addictive fat and sugar.

Ideas about what to call this second business under the Arcanotech name? Something Wizardy yet catchy.

I'm going to see if I can hire a muggle chef to come up with a menu for a fast food joint. He don't need to know where it is to come up with a good menu. Food will be purchased in the muggle world.

Also, speaking of the wolf, I think your idea about a stasis cabinet for them to get into before the moon rise have merit. Add a time release rune and a clock and you got a effective containment that also save their bodies of the stresses of transforming.

I'll get a prototype ready before my meeting with Lupin and if it turn out it works...

If it work I will set up a rune carving line for it and hand them out for free. You cant buy that amount of good will and PR.
