Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 17:- Professor's Duty

Destiny is written from the start for each individual, but there are exceptions of beings that defy it to stand above others, beating all the odds against them. Life itself is a very small word, but it holds a larger force of meaning behind it. Every living being needs to learn how to love themselves before expecting anyone to love them.

"Since everyone has now been introduced to your investigating officers, I hope everyone will cooperate with them. Time has not been kind to us. I hope you all won't be making it more difficult for them." The mediator who had been with them since their arrival on campus spoke. We all just silently nodded to him.

The mediator began to explain the rules and processes we have to go through during this period, to which we all only nodded. A short, heavyset guy, covered from top to bottom and wearing a mask, was the mediator. He then began to point out some students with his fingers, saying "you, you, you..." and we only watched him. Pointing out, he said, "You people look like you can all stand your own ground, so please carry on my request of protecting the entrance to the dorm facility while the investigators are resting. After that, you will be relieved of it with some compensation." The selected people didn't try to argue back despite hating them because of the greed for compensation. I sighed and thought, "Are these the same people who were seriously against the arrival of the special team?" As the selected peers were going towards the dorm, I concluded that the mediator is very clever. He deliberately picked them and silenced them with greed for compensation, sending a strong message to the students that they aren't affected by opposition and can easily control them.

Whatever, this bunch of special teams this time is different, not as arrogant as the previous ones, and they are in control, so I guess the students will be able to tolerate them. Let's see what the upcoming 7 days will be like for us students. I looked at Sanyara for a very brief second and found her looking at the mediator with intense focus, as if she could devour him at any moment. I was confused and wondered if she was mad at not being selected and missing out on the compensation. "We will be meeting tomorrow at 6 A.M. Until then, you are free to do whatever you want on this campus." The mediator said and left with the students he chose.

Professor Gilbirt suddenly arrived and said with a cheerful voice, as usual, "Students, for these next 7 days, you all will be living inside this campus and won't be going out of it unless instructed." The rest of the students chatted about how they can live on campus when the dorm access is very limited and minimal. Seeing us chattering among ourself Professor Gilbirt said, "Don't worry, every measure has already been taken, so let me take you all to the new place we just built." We all followed his lead and were amazed by what was in front of us. It was such a magnificent view for all of us. "Since all of you were aware of the lack of dorm facility, we just built you a new space for you all to live so enjoy." Students were happy to see such massive and new dorms, and they were all over the place. "Professor, if you won't mind me asking, how were you able to build this on such short notice?" I asked. "With magic," he said while showing us some tricks with his hand. "You knew how to use it? I thought only Professor Silgar knew how to use it," he laughed at my question and said "this is a reputable institute, so in case of any emergency, some strong people should always be present at the scene but it will just increase the expense, so to make the minimal expense in this institute there many people like me who can use it and teaches you like professors."

I noted to myself that it was cool. "Now go shoo!! enjoy your time at this new dorm," he said, and we went upon opening the gate and entering the massive residence. I sensed something and was able to say that this place is not normal, and some kind of distortion was there inside this place, but I was not able to put my finger on it.

"Wasn't that too much for them? They won't be able to tolerate it, and their conditions may deteriorate. Aren't you going too hard on them, Professor Gilbirt?" a guy asked him. "Long time no see, Professor Bright. This is very easy for them compared to the physical training you have been giving them for the past month." Gilbirt said with a smile while looking at the students moving inside the dorm, while chatting among themselves. "This bunch is anything but normal after all, they are handpicked by the principal herself," Gilbirt said, adding on to his conversation. "But still it may take toll on them as they are the last batch of our last criterion," Bright said with a worried tone. Gilbirt laughed and put his hand around his shoulder, barely, as Bright was tall for him and laughed, "This is just a starting period for them, and remember how much hell we went through compared to this experience they are experiencing right now, my friend. I will make sure they all will be alright after all, this is my job as their professor." He laughed, and Bright also laughed while reminiscing about their past together.

"I made sure that they are on top of their physical health, so now it's up to you for the next part, Gilbirt," Bright said, and Gilbirt laughed and said, " Don't worry, my friend, I will take care of it, till then take care of yourself." Bright walked away, leaving Gilbirt alone. Gilbirt looked into the cloudy sky, which could rain anytime now, and he smiled with his eyes closed and said, "I now realise what you meant back then, master, when you said ᴀ ɢʀᴇᴀᴛ ᴘʀᴏꜰᴇꜱꜱᴏʀ ᴅᴏᴇꜱɴ'ᴛ ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ᴛᴇᴀᴄʜ ʟᴇꜱꜱᴏɴꜱ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ʙᴏᴏᴋꜱ — ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴀᴡᴀᴋᴇɴ ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍꜱ, ʙᴜɪʟᴅ ᴄᴏɴꜰɪᴅᴇɴᴄᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ꜰᴀɪʟᴜʀᴇ, ᴀɴᴅ Qᴜɪᴇᴛʟʏ ꜱʜᴀᴘᴇ ᴏʀᴅɪɴᴀʀʏ ꜱᴛᴜᴅᴇɴᴛꜱ ɪɴᴛᴏ ᴇxᴛʀᴀᴏʀᴅɪɴᴀʀʏ ʜᴜᴍᴀɴ ʙᴇɪɴɢꜱ. ʏᴇᴀʀꜱ ʟᴀᴛᴇʀ, ᴡʜᴇɴ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ꜱᴛᴜᴅᴇɴᴛꜱ ᴄᴏɴQᴜᴇʀ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ, ᴀ ᴘᴀʀᴛ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴠɪᴄᴛᴏʀʏ ᴡɪʟʟ ᴀʟᴡᴀʏꜱ ʙᴇʟᴏɴɢ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛᴇᴀᴄʜᴇʀ ᴡʜᴏ ʙᴇʟɪᴇᴠᴇᴅ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ꜰɪʀꜱᴛ.", "Looks like age is now catching up to me as it did to you.
