"A little's fine." Lin Moyu infused his soul force into the Calamity Staff, beginning a second refining process.
Before, he'd marked it with his soul and nothing more. Now he began true refinement with success, he could wield some of its strength.
He didn't much care for raw power; what mattered were the staff's abilities.
It was studded with five gems, each holding a unique power. Before, Lin Moyu had only scratched the surface; perhaps now he could go deeper.
Refining was slow. Lin Moyu could feel his soul gradually infiltrating it.
At this rate, it would take a century just to finish initial refinement.
The battlefield's shattered space was slowly healing; a series of vortexes from chaos to ancient wilds started forming under the world's laws.
But within a thousand mile radius of Lin Moyu, not a single vortex appeared; the laws shielded and ignored him even space itself was altered.
Lin Moyu laughed lightly, and stepped forward, teleporting countless miles to stand before a vortex.
His soul power rushed out, forcing its way into the vortex.
"Reverse!"
With his will, soul power became a giant hand, spinning the vortex in the opposite direction.
The vortex, under the world's rules, should have led from chaos to ancient wilds but now, he reversed it to go from ancient wilds to chaos.
This violated all natural rules; even a Sovereign would trigger a warning, possibly shattering the vortex outright.
But Lin Moyu was different abandoned and shunned by the world's rules, they simply ignored him.
So, nothing intervened; he could do as he pleased.
The vortex spun backwards, faster, forming a passage.
Lin Moyu smiled. "That's why being rejected by heaven and earth isn't all bad others couldn't do this."
Chaos Gem said, "Master, when you return to chaos, everyone might be your enemy."
Lin Moyu said, "The tribulation is in full swing those who seek death now are destined for it. You've seen enough tribulations to know how many die in each one.
Any world, aside from the life and death calamity, a single round of tribulation will kill at least half its living creatures, or even end an era and start a new one.
The tribulation targets every living soul; none can escape.
Lin Moyu wouldn't kill without reason, not bloodthirsty but if you courted death, he wouldn't go easy.
Chaos Gem asked, "The last array will Master refine it too?"
Lin Moyu smiled, "Let's take it slow. I'm in no rush; let him wait."
The twelve arrays in Calamity Sovereign's plan weren't only for facing Dao there must be other uses, and not good ones.
It was something Calamity Sovereign himself didn't want to do.
Since that was the case, Lin Moyu felt no need to hurry he held the upper hand and could take his time.
The vortex stabilized. Lin Moyu stepped in and entered the array.
He followed the space passage, journeying from ancient wilds to chaos. It was a lengthy trip days even for a space tunnel.
But here, time was confused; days passed in an instant.
Thunder roared, and soon endless lightning filled his view, striking from outside the tunnel.
The space passage shattered and Lin Moyu fell into the void.
"That's the rules of heaven and earth breaking the space passage," said Chaos Gem.
Heaven and earth saw Lin Moyu as their enemy, cut him off from feeling the rules, and blocked his path upward but that didn't mean they left him alone.
On the contrary, at certain moments, the rules intervened to make trouble like now.

They became tribulation lightning and smashed the passage.
Lin Moyu looked around he was in an unusual void.

Lin Moyu nodded and prepared to act, but his soul heard a strange sound.
A black mass darted toward him at incredible speed.
Lin Moyu stepped a thousand miles away, dodging barely.
Instantly, he heard buzzing hundreds of thousands of insects beating their wings.
But more sounds came, as the black mass returned toward him.
He opened the Eye of Undeath and saw countless white, life filled soul flames.
So many soul flames at least a million formed the black swarm.
He saw their shapes: insects, just larger than a fist, banded together as a black cluster.
Lin Moyu punched out!
A massive punch shattered the black mass. Many soul flames were extinguished, but most of the insects were unharmed, flying straight toward him.
He retreated, throwing more punches.
This time, his power passed harmlessly through the swarm.
Unable to sense the rules, Lin Moyu couldn't tell how the insects evaded his blows.
He had a hunch.
Chaos Gem said, "These insects control space time!"
Suddenly, Lin Moyu realized these were the shadow bugs killers of peak full power beings, and in enough numbers, even Sovereigns had to flee.
Heaven and earth broke the passage to send the shadow bugs against him.
As their enemy, Lin Moyu was now more than a mere tribulation participant heaven and earth were determined to end him.
