Chapter 4659 - Chapter 4659: Azure Dragon’s Scheme

Chapter 4659: Azure Dragon's Scheme

Lin Moyu traversed layers of mist mist deadly enough to kill a Sovereign was ignored by him. Some denser patches, infused with stronger power from the Forbidden Zone of Life, would leave Lin Moyu lightly wounded, but these were just surface wounds. With the flow of the power of life, his injuries healed in the blink of an eye, without even a drop of blood shed. He did not need to avoid the mist and moved at an incredible speed, following Sovereign September's soul aura and drawing close rapidly.

It was unclear how long Sovereign September had been within, or how far she had advanced, but that no longer mattered; Lin Moyu's speed outstripped hers manyfold he would catch up in a few days. The soul aura grew ever denser, and Lin Moyu drew ever nearer. Meanwhile, the mist thickened and became ever more potent. Still, Lin Moyu pressed on, simply enduring minor wounds, even finding it enjoyable.

After ten days, Lin Moyu found Sovereign September standing in a corner. Not far from her, the mist drifted, and she seemed tense, watching the moving fog warily. Thick banks of mist drifted slowly, their direction shifting constantly and unpredictably, making them hard to anticipate. Lin Moyu knew she was watching for a gap in the mist only then could she pass safely between.

Her focus was absolute; she didn't notice Lin Moyu's arrival. Lin Moyu didn't disturb her, simply watching quietly from a distance. At last, Sovereign September seized her chance and darted swiftly between two banks of deadly fog. Her speed and precision were flawless. Lin Moyu realized, "So that's how she keeps going deeper… must be getting close to the goal." He looked to the distance a dazzling gem was shining some ten thousand miles away.

It was the world's core, glowing seductively as if proclaiming itself the most beautiful thing in the universe. And indeed, in a not yet collapsed world, the world core truly was flawless a perfection unlike the cores found among the ruins of destroyed worlds.

Chaos Gem commented, "She really did find the world's core. Unfortunately, she'll never refine it."

The core was wrapped in swirling mist, with no clear passage Sovereign September could not possibly break through to refine it. Lin Moyu studied the world core and sensed something inside.

"There's something in the world core."

Chaos Gem peered closely. "Strange… there shouldn't be anything inside a world core. Normally it's just primordial energy."

But now, Lin Moyu could see something within; he couldn't make out what it was, but perhaps Chaos Gem could.

Chaos Gem's sharp gaze pierced the surface. He was shocked: "There really is something. Two things, in fact one is the Primordial Art of this world. Sensing the world's impending collapse, Azure Dragon stored his Primordial Art inside the world core.

"The second is a curious treasure, the one that could prolong the world's life. All supreme beings thought Azure Dragon merged it with the world itself; but in fact, it's hidden in the world core."

Lin Moyu asked, "What difference does that make?"

Chaos Gem replied, "If it was merged with the world, it'd be gone its powers maxed out. Hiding it in the core is less effective, at most half as potent, but the advantage is the treasure still exists and could be recovered and used again."

Lin Moyu understood: "He wanted to use it for longevity first, then keep sending out teams to seek primordial energy. When the teams failed, he'd finally use this treasure. But it's really more like a last resort."

But Lin Moyu shook his head. "That can't be all it's not just about prolonging the world. Azure Dragon must've known, hence he wouldn't fuse the treasure completely, but also didn't want it taken by others. This way he deceived everyone. If it was only about longevity, he'd have fused it the two actions aren't contradictory."

So Lin Moyu was sure Azure Dragon, being a supreme being, must have had other plans. Only, he never expected the world to collapse entirely, rendering his previous schemes null.

Chaos Gem thought for a moment: "You make sense. But what else could it do?"

Lin Moyu answered, "Once we take it and research it, we'll know. Plus, I feel there's more he was planning."

Chaos Gem asked instinctively, "Like what?"

Lin Moyu said, "Just a guess a Sovereign's not easily killed; a supreme being would be even harder. His body is still intact, and his Primordial Art and treasure are in the world core. Guess what he wants?"

Chaos Gem blurted out, "He wants resurrection."

Lin Moyu corrected, "Not really resurrection more like he never truly died. Not two things, but three inside the core."

Within the treasure that prolonged the world, a soul flame burned.

This soul flame was weak and slumbering, but real.

Though faint, its essence was astounding beyond a Sovereign. If a Sovereign's soul was like a block of iron, this was like a grain of steel: small, but far superior in quality.

It belonged to a supreme being, to Azure Dragon himself. He'd stored a fragment of his soul inside the treasure, awaiting the right moment to return.

So he never truly died, nor needed resurrection he'd always been there.

Sovereign September's soul avatar moved again, weaving through the deadly fog, drawing even closer to the world core. The light of the core now bathed her, and a faint buzzing sound rang out the core seemed to become aware of her.

More specifically, it was Azure Dragon's soul fragment within the core that had detected her.

Light flared unnaturally from the core, shining in all directions. Sovereign September's soul avatar's eyes went instantly unfocused.

The next moment, she flew straight toward the world core, heedless of the lethal fog ahead.

"Not good!" Lin Moyu realized Sovereign September was under the core's influence and had lost control.

If her soul avatar touched the fog, she would die utterly, her awareness destroyed.

She would become a living corpse until a new will was born. But it would no longer be her.

Usually, Lin Moyu would not care it wasn't his problem.

But for the sake of acquiring the Primordial Art, this time he had to intervene.

He shot forward at top speed, piercing the deadly mist, snatching Sovereign September back just before she hit the fog.
