The shriek of the emergency sirens pierced the halls of the Central Union Command Building. Red lights strobed violently along the ceiling as soldiers sprinted through the corridors, armor half-fastened and weapons clutched in shaking hands.
BWOOM BWOOM BWOOM.
A trembling voice echoed over the intercom...
"All units, Code Black! I repeat, Code Black! Mandatory evacuation protocols now in effect!"
The command lobby was chaotic.
"Move, move, MOVE!" an officer barked as he shoved crates of rifles toward a squad scrambling to gear up. "We need defensive lines on levels one through three!"
A young soldier nearly tripped while snapping a mag into his rifle.
"Sir, what the hell happened out there? The broadcast just cut off."
"We don't have the full report yet," the officer snapped. "But I have a feeling it has to do with our not-so-friendly visitors."
Another soldier shouted from across the room, panic rising in his voice.
