Alister and Cinder soon arrived at the location where the ruin was supposedly to have appeared.
However, the moment they reached the area, both of them stopped.
They had expected to find an abandoned ruin hidden somewhere within the wasteland.
Instead, they were greeted by what appeared to be a heavily secured perimeter.
Numerous Union officers were stationed throughout the area, while researchers could be seen moving between several temporary structures and examining the surrounding terrain.
Cinder's crimson eyes narrowed.
"That's rather unexpected."
Alister silently observed the scene before them with a mildly annoyed expression, soon easing up.
There were far more people here than he had anticipated.
"Humans are always right on schedule when the devil's pitchfork is up for grabs."
Cinder glanced toward Alister.
"So, what's your plan?"
She tilted her head slightly.
"Are we going to forcefully take it from their hands and incinerate everyone on sight?"
