Chapter 5 - Getting to know each other

As Ritsuka stepped into the living room, he found Mika already setting up an elegant tea set on the table. The house was a perfect blend of futuristic and classical aesthetics, and Mika's refined taste in decor reflected that—soft lighting, sleek furniture, and a gentle aroma of tea filling the air.

Mika glanced up with a playful smirk. "I hope you're not just a coffee person. Tea is practically sacred in this house."

Ritsuka chuckled as he took a seat. "I drink both, but I won't say no to tea."

Mika handed him a cup before sitting across from him. "Good answer. So, let's get to know each other, roommate. You already know my name, but I'm curious about you."

Ritsuka took a sip, letting the warm, rich flavor settle before answering. "Well, you probably already know that I'm new to Kivotos. I just arrived today, and before that, I lived a pretty... let's say, unusual life. Now, I'm somehow attending all fourteen of the main schools."

Mika raised an eyebrow. "All fourteen? That's insane. Even the top elites only attend a handful of them. What, are you some kind of special case?"

Ritsuka shrugged. "Something like that. My dad and the Student Council made the decision, and I'm just rolling with it."

Mika leaned forward, intrigued. "Huh... Sounds like there's a bigger story there. But let's talk about something more important—do you cook?"

Ritsuka blinked. "Uh, yeah? I had to learn, given how chaotic my life was before."

Mika grinned. "Good. That means you'll be cooking sometimes. I may be an angel, but I do not survive on heavenly blessings alone."

Ritsuka laughed. "Noted. So, does that mean we're splitting responsibilities, or am I just the designated chef now?"

Mika smirked. "We'll see. If your cooking is as good as you claim, I might just exploit your talents."

Ritsuka shook his head with an amused sigh. This was definitely going to be an interesting living arrangement.

Mika them took another drink from her tea as she spoke. "So, how is it like outside of the Angel Nation".

Ritsuka looked as he spoke. "Chaotic?"

Mika chuckled at his response. "Chaotic, huh? That sounds about right. We get glimpses of the outside world through the news, but it's always so... filtered. I've always wondered what it's really like."

Ritsuka leaned back, setting his tea down. "Well, let's just say it's not as peaceful as Kivotos. Governments are always fighting over power, crime is a daily reality, and people don't have the luxury of things like Halos or special abilities to keep them safe."

Mika hummed in thought, swirling the tea in her cup. "Sounds exhausting. But exciting too."

Ritsuka raised an eyebrow. "Exciting? You sound like you want to leave Kivotos."

Mika smiled but didn't immediately respond. Instead, she looked out the window at the bright, futuristic cityscape. "It's not that I dislike Kivotos. It's just... sometimes I wonder what's beyond our borders. The idea that we can't leave permanently—it makes the world outside seem so distant, so unreachable."

Ritsuka studied her expression before replying, "Well, if it makes you feel better, the outside world isn't exactly a paradise. But I get it. Sometimes, knowing you can't leave makes you want to even more."

Mika let out a soft laugh. "Exactly. But enough about that—I doubt you came here just to hear me complain about existential thoughts."

Ritsuka smirked. "Fair enough. So, what should I know about living here? Any more house rules?"

Mika leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand. "Hmm... Just a few. 5, don't leave dirty dishes in the sink. 6, if you use the last of the milk, replace it. 7, and most important—if I'm having tea time, don't interrupt unless it's an emergency."

Ritsuka held back a laugh. "Got it. So tea time is sacred?"

Mika gave a dramatic nod. "Absolutely."

Ritsuka shook his head with an amused smile. "Well, this should be interesting."

Ritsuka got as he spoke. "So I guess I should get too cooking".

Mika looked at him as she spoke. "Yup, we will take turns each day, so show me your best".

Ritsuka looked as he spoke. "Sure thing".

The rhen cooked for both a simple fried rice and egg's with a side of Chicken and after Mika took one bite she felt like to taste like Heaven as she finished it in a matter of minutes, as Ritsuka was still eating his.

Ritsuka looked at her as he chuckled. "Wow, you're buggery"

Mika wiperd her mouth with a napkin as she spoke. "Hungry no, your food was just great".

Ritsuka blinked as he spoke. "Great, that only one my basic foods that I cook here and there, did noting Special just added a few spices like Salt, yeah only salt'.

Mika stared at him, her eyes narrowing in disbelief. "Only salt? You're telling me this tasted like heaven, and you just used salt?"

Ritsuka shrugged, taking another bite. "Yeah, pretty much. Maybe it's just because you're not used to home-cooked meals?"

Mika pouted slightly, crossing her arms. "Hey, I can cook, you know!"

Ritsuka raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

Mika huffed. "Of course! I just… don't get the chance to, with everything going on."

Ritsuka chuckled. "Well, guess I'll be the judge of that when it's your turn to cook."

Mika smirked. "Oh, you will be impressed. Just wait!"

As they continued their meal, Ritsuka couldn't help but enjoy the easygoing atmosphere. It was a nice change of pace from everything else that had been thrown at him since arriving in Kivotos.

Mika's thoughts drifted to the meal Ritsuka had prepared, her curiosity piqued by the simplicity of the dish and its surprising impact. "If this is what his basic food tastes like… she thought, I can't even imagine how the more advanced dishes would taste. This is going to be interesting...".

She leaned back in her chair, tapping her fingers on the table thoughtfully. Tomorrow, my turn. I'll show him that I can cook just as well, if not better! It's only fair. Neutral ground, right?

Her mind wandered to all the different flavors and spices she had learned over the years. Maybe I'll make something new, something unique... She smiled to herself, eager to show off her skills and maybe, just maybe, prove that she could top Ritsuka's cooking.

As the silence stretched between them, Ritsuka noticed Mika's expression change. "What's going on in that head of yours now?" he asked, his voice light.

Mika grinned mischievously, her eyes gleaming. "Oh, nothing," she said innocently. "Just thinking about tomorrow's meal, and how I'm going to impress you."

Ritsuka raised an eyebrow. "Is that so?"

"Yep," Mika said, leaning back with a confident smirk. "Better be ready to have your taste buds blown away."

Ritsuka chuckled. "I'll hold you to that."

They continued their meal, the friendly banter only adding to the comfortable atmosphere between them. With the promise of cooking challenges ahead, there was no telling how things would turn out—but one thing was for sure: they would make great roommates.

Later that night Ritsuka in his room was looking too his credit score, with all the things he would need too but, even with Mika help in the future, he will run out fast, then he Wonder if he should get a part time job as soon as possible, maybe helping in a Gun Store..... Yeah it was weird how many of them were in thei nation, or maybe some of jobs, or working with the Police force of each school.

He was doing while going through YouTube, then he clicked on a live stream of the YouTuber ZyOx. As he saw the Genshin Streamer as he saw the stream as he stopped.

Ritsuka pause the video as he thought. "Streamer huh.... There is lot of people from outside of Kivotos that want too know what in the Angel Nation, each section of this place, there is no streamer like this, and they is no law agents it, there is no Streamer like me.... A streamer huh".

Ritsuka leaned back in his chair, staring at the paused stream of ZyOx. His mind was whirring, processing the idea that had just sparked. A streamer, huh?

He couldn't deny the allure of it. He had the charisma, the tech, and with his unique situation, there was a certain mystique about his life that could capture people's attention. What if I could be a streamer like this? he thought. People from outside Kivotos would be curious about the Angel Nation, the schools, and the life here. I could give them a perspective no one else has...

The more he thought about it, the more the idea seemed to make sense. I could document my life, maybe do some gaming streams, show the cool stuff I'm learning, and hell, even some behind-the-scenes looks at life here. People would eat that up. And maybe it could even help with my credit situation.

Ritsuka's eyes twinkled as he began brainstorming. But I'd have to stand out... ZyOx's streams are huge. I can't just do what everyone else is doing. I'd need a unique angle. Maybe... gaming and real-life adventures combined?

He started to scroll through the comments of the stream, watching how ZyOx interacted with his audience. The chat was flooded with praise and curiosity. Ritsuka couldn't help but feel that familiar itch of competition and opportunity. This could be the perfect chance to test something new. An online persona, a fresh way to share my life.

But there was a problem. What would I even stream about? How would I balance everything—school, my future job, my new roommate...

He thought back to his day with Mika. Maybe I could stream cooking challenges with her. Or, heck, maybe even test out my gun skills, something unique about the Angel Nation...

His thoughts were interrupted when his phone buzzed. He quickly checked, his eyes scanning the new message.

"Have you decided on your schedule yet?—Mika"

He smirked and replied: "Actually, I was just thinking of starting something new... ever heard of live streaming?"

He hit send before thinking about it too much, but his gut told him it could be a good way to not only make some extra credits but also get people interested in his life. Maybe even build a community around his unique position in Kivotos.

As he looked back at the paused ZyOx stream, Ritsuka couldn't help but smile. Stream... Yeah. This could be the beginning of something interesting.

Mika looked as she was ready too laugh, almost as she looked at him. "So instead of writing a private Diary of your life, you will make a public diary, hahahahhaha".

Ritsuka rolled his eyes but couldn't help but chuckle at Mika's reaction. "It's not just a diary," he replied, trying to defend his idea. "I mean, yeah, it's about sharing my life, but it could be more like... an adventure. You know, showing people things they wouldn't normally see. And hey, if I get enough followers, I can make a little side income from it too."

Mika raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by the thought of Ritsuka as some sort of public figure. "A side income from streaming? You really think people will tune in to watch you?" she teased, her golden eyes sparkling with mischief. "You do realize you're in an Angel Nation school, right? No one here is going to be that interested in your daily life unless you make it… dramatic."

Ritsuka scratched his chin, considering her words. "Maybe I could make it dramatic..." he muttered to himself, thinking about ways to make his streams more engaging. "But I'd need a niche... something cool. I could focus on the everyday life of being a student here—showing the classes, the traditions, the weird stuff like the military training, and maybe even some challenges. It's not just about my life, it's about giving them something different, something they can't get anywhere else."

Mika leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms, still skeptical. "So, you're going to make a career out of being the 'Angel Nation Tour Guide'?" she said, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Well, good luck with that, Ritsuka. But I'll admit, it's one way to make use of your weirdly public life."

Ritsuka grinned, feeling a little more confident about his idea. "Yeah, well, why not? Might as well give it a shot. If it works, great. If not... at least I had fun with it."

Mika sighed, shaking her head. "You really have no shame, do you?" she muttered, though her tone wasn't as mocking as before. "Fine, go ahead and try it. But if you embarrass yourself, I'm not taking the blame."

Ritsuka laughed. "No promises."

Mika looked at him as she spoke. "If you gonna do this, Promise me something, I may not know you that well, we just met yesterday, but you are sharing your every waking moment for content".

Ritsuka paused, looking at Mika as her serious tone caught him off guard. "What do you mean?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.

Mika sighed, her golden eyes softening just slightly. "I know how it can be, getting wrapped up in the idea of having an audience, trying to get validation from strangers on the internet. But listen to me, Ritsuka—don't lose yourself in it. Don't let the stream, the followers, the views dictate your life. There's more to you than just content. Don't forget that."

Ritsuka stared at her for a moment, considering her words. He hadn't really thought much about it beyond the surface level—just a fun way to share his new life and maybe make a little money along the way. But Mika's sincerity made him pause. "I... I get it," he said slowly, nodding. "I don't plan to let it take over. I mean, I have my reasons for wanting to do this, but I won't let it change who I am. Thanks for the reminder."

Mika gave him a small, approving nod, her serious expression softening. "Good. Just don't forget that some things should stay private. Some moments are meant to be yours, not for the whole world to see."

Ritsuka thought about her words for a moment, a quiet understanding settling over him. He had always been a private person, but the allure of the online world and the idea of sharing everything had pulled him in. Maybe there was more to balance than he originally thought. "Thanks, Mika. I promise, I won't forget."

Mika smiled, her teasing nature returning. "Alright, then. You're on your own path now. Just make sure you don't end up being the 'meme' of the Angel Nation. That'll be a hard one to live down."

Ritsuka chuckled, feeling a little lighter. "I'll keep that in mind."

With that, Mika turned to leave, but not before glancing back with a smirk. "And hey, don't take yourself too seriously. No one likes a streamer with a stick up their ass."

Ritsuka grinned. "I'll keep it chill. Promise."

As she left, Ritsuka sat back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. Mika had a point—there was a balance he needed to find. He wasn't just Ritsuka the streamer; he was Ritsuka, the guy who was still trying to figure out his place in this strange, new world. And maybe, just maybe, it wasn't all about the views.
