Chapter 1001 - Chapter 1001: Knocking, Smashing, and the Pleasure of Destroying a Treasure

Looking rather annoyed at the hysterically laughing vampire Deacon, William kicked him hard, sending him crashing into the black magic shield. With a loud "bang," Deacon was immediately bounced back by the shield.

With several ribs broken, Deacon coughed up blood but still managed to show a triumphant smile. "It's useless. This magic array is powered by the Dark Codex of the Demon God Seth, and it's been prepared specifically for you. I'm just waiting to go to hell and serve the great Set."

"Idiot," William said as he pulled out the Frost Hammer and hurled it at the energy shield.

Clang~~

The magic shield struck by the Frost Hammer instantly started showing icy fragments, followed by a cracking sound in Deacon's panicked eyes.

Retrieving the Frost Hammer, William struck the frozen shield again with even greater force.

Crack, crack—the sound of the ice breaking was even louder this time.

Frightened, Deacon shouted to the vampires outside the shield, "Don't let him escape! Start the sacrificial ritual, now!"

The group of vampires outside the altar rushed to action, weapons in hand, forcing twelve pureblood vampires—who looked terrified—onto twelve rune circles.

Seeing this, William stopped throwing the hammer and instead walked up to the magic shield with it in hand. Raising his arm, he began smashing down with full force.

In an instant, a series of clang, clang, clang resounded endlessly, striking terror into Deacon and the vampires outside the altar.

Fortunately, the Dark Codex of Seth truly lived up to being a treasure of a demon god. Though the shield looked like it was on the verge of collapsing several times, the codex would release dark energy to replenish the lost magic power, bringing some relief to Deacon and the other vampires. Still, their hands couldn't help but move faster.

But things weren't so easy for Set himself, who was watching from Hell.

Each time he pierced dimensions to transmit energy to the Dark Codex, he lost ninety percent of his dark magic power. If not for Mephisto, his new master, watching nearby, Set might have already given up.

After all, he had already been injured before. Now, with such heavy consumption of magic power, who knew if Mephisto would suddenly devour him while he was weakened?

Meanwhile, William, hammer in hand and tirelessly smashing away, still had the mind to observe the Dark Codex, which continued to emit a deep black glow.

He wondered what connection this book might have with Xisoth's Darkhold, or which one was superior.

He was tempted to take it for study but was concerned about his own willpower.

Despite having many treasures and solid combat strength, William knew very well that if he had a weakness, it was probably his mental resilience.

If a voice began whispering and echoing in his mind, William wasn't sure how long he could hold out.

His spiritual scan picked up streams of blood flowing across the top of the altar. William knew the sacrificial ritual was nearing completion.

Unfortunately, there was still no sign of that old bastard Victor. All this effort spent smashing the damn magic shield might've been for nothing.

Stopping his swings, William looked at the blood about to drop. He knew that once it made contact, the blood god in Hell would begin to possess him.

Just as Deacon, Set, and even Mephisto in Hell thought William would either look for another method or prepare to fight the blood god for control of his body—

A thought flashed through his mind, and William transformed his Holy Light Armor into Frost Armor. Without a word, he raised his hammer and smashed it into the altar floor.

An intense cold that seemed capable of freezing even souls radiated from the Frost Hammer. In a single breath, the entire space within the magic shield was saturated with frost energy, compressing the interior completely.

As the frost power continued to pour from the hammer, creaking and groaning sounds echoed as the magic shield began to bulge outward, pressed by the expanding ice.

Seeing the shield repeatedly expand and shrink, even showing occasional cracks under the pressure of frost energy, William snorted coldly in his mind. The Frost Hammer was forged from the Frost Box, a treasure capable of freezing an entire planet.

While its energy wasn't infinite, breaking a magic shield like this was no problem. And as the freezing energy passed beyond the shield,

The temperature inside the underground altar plummeted rapidly. Within seconds, the vampires who realized something was wrong were frozen solid before they could escape.

As for Deacon Firth inside the magic shield, he had already been frozen into pieces by the extreme cold. Even the blood droplet from the blood god was frozen mid-air, unable to fall any further.

In Hell, Mephisto continued watching for a few more seconds. As the entire underground altar was completely frozen,

And as the unrelenting frost energy began to push upward, lifting the altar's stone ceiling and breaking through the soil layer, expanding toward the surface, Mephisto sighed in his heart. "I didn't expect Odin would actually be willing to turn the founding treasure of the Frost Giants into a weapon and give it to this human."

"Forget it, Set," Mephisto said, shaking his head. "Withdraw your Dark Codex. There's no way that human William Devonshire can be contained now."

Set was silent for a moment, clearly unwilling, but finally glared fiercely at William a few times before preparing to recall the Dark Codex.

But just as he activated his magic to summon the codex, at the moment the shield vanished, a crimson light burst skyward from the ice.

Clang

William was seen grabbing a sword and throwing it directly at the Dark Codex.

Sensing danger, Set hurriedly burned magic power to speed up the summoning. But what was usually smooth spellcasting now faltered unexpectedly.

William, having frozen the space around the codex, dissipated the ice with his mind. The Tianwen Sword followed closely, striking and piercing the codex's cover in an instant.

Before Set could even react, William leapt five or six meters, raised the Frost Hammer, and smashed it down onto the hilt of the Tianwen Sword.

Boom~~

With a thunderous strike, the Tianwen Sword punched through the codex's cover, embedding itself deep within.

This felt like a hammer to the head for Set, who was already greatly weakened. His mind went fuzzy at once.

But William wasn't about to stop there. Under Set's terrified gaze and Mephisto's stunned silence, he raised the hammer again and smashed it down onto the sword.

With a resounding clang, Set clutched his head and collapsed in pain.

Seeing the obvious effect, William let out a wicked laugh and kept pounding the sword relentlessly. After more than a dozen strikes, the Tianwen Sword finally pierced through the entire Dark Codex.

With its magic array completely destroyed, the Dark Codex instantly lost its glow and darkened.

Mephisto stared in disbelief at the Tianwen Sword embedded in the Dark Codex, unable to comprehend how the sword had taken more than a dozen hammer blows, destroyed the codex's array, and remained completely unscathed.
