Chapter 16 - Velarin Glorias

"She's Velarin Glorias, the monstrous girl who kept challenging geniuses since the start of the camp."

"Thankfully, I'm not that talented. Her violent way of fighting is just too scary..."

"I'd rather fight against Roxanna Harden, though I doubt I could even call it a fight. Velarin Glorias... She's too strong!"

She did that too?

"Ugh..."

Such a problematic headache. Urapus grimaced as he tried to ignore the skipping villainess. Her childish features were full of mischief as she flew around the sergeant, whose face was noticeably shifted to irritation.

Her lineage hailed from a family that has persisted since the Mutation Era. Although they're not as prominent as their counterpart, the Rostchs.

It has the same issue as the latter, but worse, way worse.

Their lineage, the Angels, was a rare mutation of genetics. The chance of awakening was slim, for it was a mutation that only occurred three times in history.

The First Angel from the Mutation Era, Yareem Glorias, who established necessary implementations for advancing the medical field that has saved countless lives since humanity thrived after the Divine Sanction of Mankind.

The Second Angel from the 1st Phoenix Era, Raphael Glorias, who was also the spouse of the deceased First Hero, and has contributed to the destruction of the Outer Force's foundation.

And now, appeared the Third Angel from the 2nd Phoenix Era, Velarin Glorias.

From this, people could deduce that the lineage of the Angel could only be awakened once in every era. Which is why it was famous as the lineage of the Sacred.

However, unlike the First and the Second who were famous for their pure, angelic white wings and golden, holy halo above their heads, along with their miraculous healing, Velarin Glorias awakened not as the usual Angel, but as a combatant Angel.

With her sharp, though ebony wings and black, unholy horns, the little girl easily weaved through the sergeant's attacks.

Different from the usual Angel, Velarin got her physique enhanced instead of receiving 'Holy Power', a source of power unique to the inheritor of Angel's lineage.

She also received a weird power capable of absolute destruction. It was an extreme contrast to what an Angel had.

As a result, the sergeant was rendered helpless against her. His abilities that utilize metal were trashed as if it were nothing by her wings.

Her wings are nigh-indestructible. If Roxanna's physique was demonic, then her wings could be described as godly.

"Just where did this... Monster come from?"

Looking at Velarin who was toying with the sergeant, the heirs trembled in awe, despair and amazement. They felt hopeless and helpless, yet they were struck by her prowess.

Just how ridiculous and abnormal their generation truly is? To produce a monster capable of rendering the sergeant useless.

After a few exchanges, the sergeant paused "Velarin Glorias, I'll be using everything I have from now. You could back down, and you'd still get an SS rank, surpassing everyone but few from the Fifth Year."

Velarin, who flew high above, showed a bored look, "It's fine, Sir. I haven't used my power yet. This whole time, I want to try fighting a worthy opponent with it."

The sergeant sweated a little. He almost forgot about her destructive power. If the Angel's healing was renowned for its absolute healing, then her power was known for its absolute eradication!

As the cadets looked up in awe, Tyr showed a hidden gleeful smile. He looked up to Velarin, feeling too excited for his own good.

"Yes! This is it. This is the kind of person I've been waiting for."

Since the humiliation 2 months ago, Tyr has become even more behaved. He pretended to repent his mistakes in front of his sister, even offering several cruel punishments he learned from the mangas to be implemented on himself.

As a result, his sister became even more caring and told him not to worry. She even took his side when his Father wanted to detain him.

As a result, her affection surpassed 60, and he became even more talented! Because of this, most of the members of the household thought that he had let go of any grievance he had, and was serious about his repentance.

It also inspired them to abandon any grievance and achieve a pure heart, as they assumed Tyr's case was like that! Now, even his father nodded in pride every time he saw him.

Because of this, Yerin's affection rose even more, reaching over 78 points.

It was his luck to turn a misfortune into a blessing. Tyr smiled arrogantly at this. If I'm not the one destined to be the best, who else?

This time, Tyr did not carelessly put anyone into his slot. A loner genius who seemed to have no one they're close to is an ideal target.

As long as he reaches 30 affection, their affection will never fall. Afterward, who could prevent him from getting closer to them?

Unless Roxanna's accident happens.

He sneered to himself. There must be something wrong with that cunt. Just a little kid, what does she know about eternal love?

Tyr paused. Before he locks Velarin, he must understand her stance first. Her relationships, her favorites, and the things she hates.

Although the prompt is extremely tempting, he must hold on. He cannot make the same mistake!

[Velarin Glorias]

| Talent: (★)-rank talent, the Nil Lineage of Fallen Angels.

| Abilities: Beam of Extinction, Hell Storm Sanction, Wings of the Fallen, Beginner Physique...

| Affection: 0

| Requirement:

> Reach 30 affection points to receive 2 times talent and ability.

> Reach 60 affection points to receive 5 times talent and ability.

> Reach 90 affection points to receive 10 times talent and ability.

> Reach 100 affection points to receive the reward. (DISABLED)

| Reward: (★★)-rank Talent: First-grade Lineage of Angels, Velarin Glorias's upgraded abilities, and Velarin Glorias's devotion.

[Target confirmed. Proceed the bind?]

Tyr decisively stated, "No."

[The binding is put on hold.]

He looked at her talent in longing. It's obvious that the (★)-rank indicated that it was above the so-called EX-rank.

"I'll make you mine, Velarin."

It's a shame he couldn't receive the 100 affection reward for the next target. But it's fine, as long as he received her overpowered talent, he could easily convince talented girls into his ranks.

After all, in this kind of world, power speaks louder than anything. That's one thing Tyr is clear about.

Urapus, who observed the fight intently narrowed his eyes as he glanced at Tyr. Perhaps he already bound Velarin with his blessing.

"Roxanna, what do you think about her?"

As a regressor, surely her reactions could be an indicator. To ensure whether this happened in her time or an anomaly that was not supposed to happen.

"Her talent is very direct. Granting her the ability to fly, an enhanced physique, and control over a mysterious source of power capable of absolute destruction."

"She will be a very precious asset for the frontline."

Roxanna is no longer shocked by anything that does not correlate with her past life. She just accepted the fact that the world has changed its course. She's confident that as long as Urapus, the First Hero, is present, the world will be saved.

Looking at her creased, willow eyebrows above her curious eyes, Urapus nodded. He confirmed something.

It seems like her previous life has no resemblance to the current one, indicating a deviation from the original course of the world.

It's quite obvious. If the course is the same, the world will be destroyed once again. Roxanna was the Sovereign, and yet she died, indicating the destruction mankind will face should it follow the original trajectory.

The fight is still ongoing, and finally, the sergeant's inner energy bursts out. As a General expert, his energy is abundant enough to veil himself with a solid inner energy layer capable of protecting him from the disturbance in space, allowing him to traverse the space safely.

Velarin was just a Colonel expert, one realm below Urapus. No matter how hard she tried, she could not outdo the sergeant in terms of inner energy.

The sergeant used his inner energy to create a layer of protective barrier around him, allowing him to elevate himself. His speed was not slow, and in an instant, his bulk figure appeared before the flying Velarin.

Velarin's crimson eyes widened. She tried to dodge, but the sergeant easily followed her trajectory of flying and smashed her to the ground with a roundabout kick.

The impact caused a fog of dust to appear. The cadets created a distance, squinting their eyes to look through the thick dust. The sergeant merely waved his hand, clearing all the dust in the way.

Velarin, contrary to their belief, has stood up. In her hand, a mysterious power gathered, giving off the vibes of terror. It takes the shape of a small spear.

The sergeant's eyes turned serious.

It seems like this lass hasn't given up yet...

With a loud shout, Velarin threw out the destructive spear. The sergeant created a very long ring of metal, hindering its trajectory. Still, it was not enough to hold it off.

In contact, the sergeant grunted as an explosion happened midair. After the smoke was cleared, the figure of a battered-up sergeant appeared in their eyes.

Although he was not hurt, he looked coarse and dirty, seeming quite pitiful.

"If not for my superior accumulation of inner energy, I would have lost. Congratulation, Velarin Glorias. You're the first one in history to have an SSS grade right off the bat. After this, you should report to the principal to receive adequate treatment."

According to the curriculum, as long as a student's combat prowess could get an SSS grade from a sergeant, they could graduate early. And if they're not a fifth grader, they could be trained under the wings of seasoned, famous experts.

It proves their exceptional talent.

It's the case for the granddaughter of the former Sovereign, along with the sole inheritor of the Sage, the son of the Thunder Sovereign, and the sole heiress of the Meykler Family.

They're under the tutelage of Sovereigns, receiving superior teaching compared to their peers. Of course, some Sovereigns wanted their disciples to be normal, like Roxanna Harden who was under the Monarch herself, Roxy Harden.

Even though they could only qualify as SS-rank graders, they're still in First Year. Which was enough for Sovereigns to take notice of them.

This proves just how much of a monster Velarin Glorias was.

Velarin looked satisfied. She bowed in respect for the sergeant before going back to her spot. Before her, an interface materializes itself, visible only to her.

[Evolution: Lineage of the Angels III]

| Progress:

> Successfully manifested the Will of Eradication (Completed)

> Last 10 minutes against a full-powered General expert before the age of 7 (2/10)

> Meet the will of Angels within the blood of your lineage (0/1)

> Kill 100 Mortal Realm Stage 2 aliens or above before the age of 8 (Completed)

> Kill a Mortal Realm Stage 10 alien or above before the age of 9 (0/1)

> 1,000,000 EP (87,910/1,000,000)

"I'm still too weak."

"Tsk. Anyway, just how am I supposed to find a Commander expert alien bastard lying around?"

As she sat at the corner of the field, ignoring the looks of awe from the other cadets, Velarin moaned in irritation as she looked at the requirements.

And meeting the angels within her blood? What the fuck was that supposed to mean?

As her violent persona came out, Velarin soon calmed down and pursed her lips. She looked at her status while planning for the future.

[Status]

| Name: Velarin Glorias

| Realm: Mortal Realm Stage 6 [+]

| Talents: Second-stage Lineage of the Angels (EX) [+], Reincarnation Wheel (SS) [+], Intermediate Physique (S) [+], Will of Eradication (S) [+].

| Evolution Points: 87,910.

So many things have happened, yet so little answers about all of this. Veralin has experienced a lot these past few years.

Eradicated by the forgiving First Hero, who allowed her to depart quietly along with the city she burned, she died in peace and woke up as an infant.

She was hailed from the Glorias Family, a declining family rumored to have the lineage of the Angels.

Velarin Glorias soon realized her peculiarity as soon as she was born.

It was an interface that revealed her 'status'.

[Status]

| Name: Velarin Glorias

| Realm: None [+]

| Talents: Unawakened Lineage of the Angels (B) [+], Reincarnation Wheel (SS) [+].

| Evolution Points: 0

The first time it appeared, that's all it has shown. With no guide, no information, nothing. As she grew up, she tried hard to find a way to utilize it. But it only reacted to one thing.

It's when she attempted to touch the [+] symbol beside her realm and her talents.

[Evolution: Unawakened Lineage of the Angels]

| Progress:

> 100 EP (0/100)

She was lost. How can she get this thing called Evolution Points?

Confused and lost, Velarin abandoned the thought of using the interface temporarily and focused on improving herself. Despite her unawakened lineage, the blood of Angels was nothing to be scoffed at.

With just this, the whole Glorias family could manifest a pair of wings with their inner energy, drastically enhancing their patterns of attacks and momentum.

However, compared to the capability of the top prominent families, such as Harden's ridiculous physiques, Raven's mobility and illusions, and Meykler's dominion over the sea with their water-based talents, it was still too insignificant.

When she reached the age of 4, her parents died. Velarin pretended to be sad, acting like a normal little girl. They never take care of her anyway, staying at the frontline all years long.

The last time she met them was when she was 2.

And then, at the age of 4, she, along with a batch of other Glorias's children, was sent to the battlefield.

Unfortunately, the city where the Glorias Family resides was one of the places where marine lifeforms evolved. The sea below them used to be one of the deepest points of Earth, and thus over the years, numerous unidentified creatures kept invading the land.

As for the land animals, they've long been extinct. The explosive growth of the sea was too much for mankind, lest animals who lived based on their instinct.

Over 99% of the land species are extinct. Only the domesticated livestock and pets survived the tragedy.

Thus, other than the Outer Forces, mankind also has to resist against the mutated marine creatures.

Many Glorias children died.

The Glorias family was famous for its iron fists, which was implemented by desperation to keep the former glory of the family afloat. They simply couldn't compete with other families when it comes to talent.

According to their teaching, the children must be 'baptized' with the blood of monsters that they killed with their own hands.

With the environment supporting its rules, thus, the cruel procedure thrives. Velarin struggled, watching the meaningless deaths of these children.

There's pity, but no sympathy. She also had to survive. And when she got her first kill, an evolved clown fish that had been enlarged to 2 meters, a notification appeared.

| +1 Evolution Points!

From there, she understood what must be done. For the next year, while other children either died, were traumatized for life, or went back to the family with the glory of getting their first kill, Velarin chose to stay.

She honed her battle instinct, tempered her heart, and experienced explosive growth of strength.

At the age of 5, she reached Mortal Realm Stage 4 and awakened the First-grade Lineage of the Angels, boasting unmatched combat prowess amongst her generation and realm.

Despite the persuasion from the head family to rest, Velarin continued. With her ebonic wings and unholy horn, she flew through the sea and eradicated any marine lifeforms that she came across.

Thus, she was known as the sole inheritor of the lineage of the Angels! The Glorias Family, a family she did not care about, took pride in her.

And finally, she was invited to the Verest Training Camp. She initially refused, but a certain requirement for evolution bugged her to no end.

[Evolution: Lineage of the Angels II]

| Progress:

> Challenge 5 geniuses and defeat them. Prove that your lineage is the best! (0/5)

...

There are no geniuses in the frontline of the sea. Disappointed, Velarin has no choice but to attend the Verest Training Camp.

After all, her main source of power came from this lineage!

1st June, Year 309 of the 2nd Phoenix Calendar. She came, and she chose to wreak havoc!

"Are you a genius? Surely you are since you are attending this camp. Let's fight!"

At first, the cadets that she approached showed a prideful demeanor, especially the boys.

Velarin, despite her savagery, is still a cute girl.

In her previous life, it was exactly because of this that she received the envy of her relatives, turning her life to hell. The scorn that soon turned her into a person craving for revenge and destruction, for it was the reason her beloved mother passed on to the afterlife.

However, as the fight began, they began to realize.

They have no chance!

Being ruthlessly beaten up by Velarin, the cadets soon spread the rumors about her being a monstrous girl with monstrous strength. The girls trembled, while the boys quivered in their feet.

Because of the rumors, Velarin struggled to find her 5th opponent. Fortunately, a prideful little girl by the name of Marin Rostch approached her and challenged her on her own accord.

Compared to the previous fights, it was quite fun!

Sadly, in the end, Marin fell short.

With a sweep of her ebonic wings, the elements Marin conjured were easily blocked. Some of them even bounced back to her.

She thought since then, the Training Camp would become a boring place.

Even Marin Rotsch, a disciple of a Sovereign, couldn't defeat her. If Marin can't defeat her, then no one can.

Although she could fight those experts above her age and realm, it's vastly different from fighting against her own peers.

Disappointed and bored, Velarin spent the rest of her days wandering around the camp. At times, she asked the localists for spars, which they did out of compassion.

After she brutally beat them up though, none of them ever came near her again. She scoffed. Such narrow-mindedness.

It's a very dull lifestyle.

Finally, on the day of the opening ceremony

She was fired up!

Surely, the sergeants and instructors would be sufficient enough for her craving to fight!

She thought nothing would happen before the beginning of the camp. She was planning to use the instructors as her grinding stone before graduating early.

This camp is too dull. It was filled inexperienced kids. As a person who used to be at the frontline, she really couldn't stand this kind of lifestyle.

But when a visage passed by,

Velarin froze.

Neat black hair, with a bang hanging over his strangely sharp, ebonic eyes.

His perfect features that befit the description of a dashing boy...

And his unique, unforgettable aura.

How could she forget that aura? It's the intoxicating, attractive aura that made the First Hero who he was.

The aura that made her go crazy over the First Hero. The reason why she was willing to lay her life down despite being a Sovereign expert.

At first sight, Velarin was sure. Whatever the reasons there are, whatever the unknown interventions she has no knowledge of, whatever schemes and hidden purposes that exist, Velarin did not care.

The only thing she cared about was the fact that he has appeared.

There's no one else who could impersonate such an amazing aura.

No, there must be no one else.

That boy must be Urapus.

The damned, softie First Hero she loved yet hated.
