Chapter 1 - Creation101

The summit was silent.

Too silent.

Ethan Vale stood at the peak, boots buried in ancient ice. The wind howled around him but up here it didn't matter.

Nothing did.

Not the world below. Not the people watching. Not even himself.

Only the mountain.

He exhaled.

White mist drifted into the sky.

"I made it…"

A whisper.

Barely there.

But real.

"Ethan! Respond!"

Static cracked.

"Summit confirmed! You did it!"

Voices flooded in.

Excited. Loud. Overlapping.

"Olympic record""First solo ascent""This is history"

History.

Ethan closed his eyes.

It didn't feel like history.

It felt… empty.

Three years later.

"Again."

Ethan didn't move.

"Ethan. Again."

The therapist's voice stayed calm.

Too calm.

He hated it.

Ethan tightened the straps around his leg.

The brace clicked.

A small sound.

Too loud.

Step.

His right leg moved.

Strong.

Stable.

Step.

His left leg followed.

Slow.

Wrong.

He stopped.

Breathing hard.

"You're improving."

Ethan laughed.

Short.

Dry.

"Am I?"

No answer.

Of course.

He looked at the mirror.

A stranger stared back.

Not the man who conquered mountains.

Not the man who stood above the clouds.

Just Someone broken.

"I'm done."

"You still have"

"I said I'm done."

Silence.

The accident.

Fragments only.

Ice cracking.

A shift.

A mistake.

Then Falling.No warning.No control.

Just Impact.

"Miracle survival," they said.

"Unbelievable odds."

"Lucky."

Ethan didn't feel lucky.

"You should stop coming here."

He didn't turn.

The mountain stood in the distance.

Far.

But not far enough.

"You've already proven everything."

"Then why does it feel like I lost everything?"

Silence.

Because he had.

The climb began again.

Familiar.

Too familiar.

Every step echoed.

Every breath burned.

The higher he went ,The worse it got.

Good.

Pain meant something.

Pain meant he wasn't done.

The storm hit without warning.

Clear sky

Then white.

Wind roared.

Snow swallowed everything.

Visibility dropped.

Five meters.

Three.

Nothing.

Ethan drove his axe into the ice.

Steady.

Controlled.

Focused.

He knew storms.

He knew mountains.

So why

Did this feel wrong?

The wind changed.

Not louder.

Closer.

"—Ethan—"

He froze.

No.

That wasn't possible.

He turned.

Nothing.

Only white.

"Ethan Vale"

Clear.

Cold.

Real.

His grip tightened.

"This is altitude sickness…"

He stepped forward.

"Keep moving."

"Why did you come back?"

Ethan stopped.

The voice wasn't outside.

It was inside the storm.

"You broke."

His jaw tightened.

"I didn't break."

"Your body did."

Silence.

That hurt.

Ethan moved faster.

Ignoring it.

Step.

Step.

Step—

The ground disappeared.

He fell.

Pain exploded through his leg.

Sharp.

Brutal.

Real.

Ethan crashed into the slope.

Air gone.

Vision spinning.

Snow covered him.

Cold.

Heavy.

Endless.

"You will die here."

He laughed.

Breathless.

"Not today."

"You already did once."

Silence.

That was true.

Ethan pushed himself up.

His leg screamed.

He ignored it.

"I'm still here."

"Barely."

Something changed.

The storm Stopped.No wind.No snow.No sound.Ethan blinked.

The mountain remained.

But different.

Darker.

Watching.

And ahead

Something stood.

Not human.

Not alive.

Not right.

Every instinct screamed.

Run.

Leave.

Don't look.

He didn't move.

Because for the first time

He felt it.

Hope.

"Ethan Vale."

The voice came from it.

"You returned."

"…What are you?"

No answer.

"You were broken."

"I'm still standing."

"For now."

A pause.

"You want your body back."

Ethan stayed silent.

"I can fix it."

The mountain held its breath.

"What do you want?"

"One thing."

A step closer.

"Service."

The word sank deep.

"A contract."

"And in return?"

"Restoration."

His leg.

His strength.

His life.

Back.

"What's the cost?"

A pause.

"Everything."

Ethan smiled.

Not happy.

Not confident.

Just

Done.

"…Fine."

The moment he said it

Something snapped.

Pain

Gone.

Ethan staggered.

His leg moved.

Perfect.

No delay.

No weakness.

Stronger.

Faster.

Wrong.

He looked up.

The thing was fading.

"Your first task…"

Its voice dissolved.

"Climb."

Silence returned.

The mountain stood before him.

But this time Ethan knew.

He wasn't alone and deep inside Something had just been created.
