Bruno was in his office in Berlin when the phone rang. He was just signing another law into effect when he picked up the phone and heard the familiar voice on the other end.
King Henry VI was always a bit timid around Bruno, but today he seemed unusually so. And Bruno clocked it instantly when he heard the man's words.
"Chancellor, h… how has your day been?"
Bruno placed his pen down and looked at the phone with a curious smile. As he instantly cut through the small talk with a decisive and sharp blow.
"I'm assuming you didn't interrupt my work solely to ask about the dull nature of paperwork. What happened, Henry?"
Bruno could hear the sigh on the other end of the line, which was followed by a short but bitter laugh.
