Mount Massive Asylum was a place that had been closed since 1971 due to a single incident that was carefully covered up by the government agencies themselves. All records of this incident were thoroughly destroyed, and the documents were erased — including those who couldn't keep their mouths shut. After that, there was not a single mention left of what had actually happened in 1971 at Mount Massive Asylum, and no one ever spoke about it again.
For ordinary citizens, a simple explanation was also provided, which everyone believed. Everything was blamed on the fact that Mount Massive Asylum did not meet the standards that would help mentally ill patients successfully complete treatment. But those relatives whose loved ones were patients in this place never saw their family members again. And so that none of the patients' relatives would ask questions, they were given a substantial sum of money under the pretext of compensation.
But in reality, it was hush money so that no one would ask any questions. And since 1971 was quite a difficult year for ordinary people, the patients' relatives calmly accepted the money, which could be called dirty. After all, receiving a large sum in exchange for silence and forgetting that they had a mentally ill relative was considered the smartest decision in such a situation.
Decades passed since Mount Massive Asylum was closed, and the territory was fenced off, not allowing any outsiders in. Until one day in 2009, a certain company bought the land around the asylum and Mount Massive itself.
The ones who bought Mount Massive were the Murkoff Corporation, which hid their actions behind the guise of a charitable organization. But in reality, Mount Massive was not a place where mentally ill people received treatment and a chance at a new life. All people — whether mentally ill or healthy — once they found themselves within the walls of Mount Massive, became participants in horrific and terrible experiments that changed them forever.
The Murkoff Corporation deliberately selected candidates for all these experiments: whether they were mentally ill people whom society called psychopaths and murderers, or ordinary people from the lower strata of society. The Murkoff Corporation had enough money to pay relatives for their silence, who gladly took the money and forgot about everything they had been told or contacted about.
And the one who ran Mount Massive Asylum was Rudolph Wernicke, whom the Murkoff Corporation hired because of the experiments he had conducted during World War II. After the end of World War II, Rudolph Wernicke emigrated to America and was recruited by the Murkoff Corporation. Rudolph Wernicke took indirect part in some of the experiments that the Murkoff Corporation conducted to create sleeper agents during the Cold War.
And by 1960, Rudolph Wernicke headed his own project called "Morphogenetic Conditioning." The essence of this project was that it allowed people on the verge of complete insanity to control a sentient nanite swarm through a state of lucid dreaming.
Before connecting the patient to the machine that allowed them to control the Walrider, they were subjected to therapy sessions designed to induce extreme mental states in them. Wernicke claimed that only a test subject who had seen enough horrors was capable of activating the engine. Those patients who went through the first stage of therapy could no longer remain the same: their minds were broken to such an extent that everything from their former personality was completely erased.
Such therapy was undergone not only by ordinary people who were unlucky enough to end up in Mount Massive Asylum, but there were also test subjects whom society called psychopaths. And after such therapy, the personality of these psychopaths became even more extreme and cruel. In addition to this mental therapy, patients were also subjected to physical therapy, which left them disfigured beyond recognition.
But for the Murkoff Corporation, as well as for Rudolph Wernicke himself, such people were nothing more than expendable material that allowed them to achieve their goal. And for many years, Mount Massive Asylum remained closed while all possible horrific experiments were conducted there.
Until the Murkoff Corporation supposedly bought this asylum to open it as a charity. In reality, it was a disguised way to recruit new patients on whom all possible experiments would be conducted, during which their bodies and minds would be broken again and again.
And at the present time, a real nightmare was unfolding at Mount Massive Asylum, which could only be called a massacre. All the cells containing the patients suddenly opened, and those who had been subjected to horrific experiments broke free. Especially the Walrider, whose control Wernicke and the Murkoff Corporation wanted to obtain.
The escaped patients attacked all the staff they could reach, killing them in particularly cruel ways. The broken minds of the patients knew no limits in cruelty, and therefore everything happening within the walls of Mount Massive could only be called a massacre. Those who wanted to escape could not do so because all entrances and exits were blocked, and the windows had bars, making it impossible to get out.
And at the same time, near the main gates of Mount Massive Asylum, Dean, Sam, and Wednesday appeared, who had been teleported to this place by Castiel. Castiel didn't linger and immediately disappeared without saying a word. After all, he needed to continue playing the role of the old Castiel, who was doing everything in his power to fix the mess.
Even if he was only doing it for show and partially sabotaging these efforts at Alex's request. Castiel knew that Alex already had a plan to deal with Chuck and lure him out when everything reached the final stage. For now, he would continue to play his role as the angel who had turned away from Heaven and stood on the side of the Winchester brothers.
"And he left again without saying goodbye. No manners at all," Dean muttered, looking over his shoulder at the spot where Castiel had been standing just a moment ago.
Shaking his head, Dean shifted his gaze to Mount Massive Asylum and slightly grimaced. He had never liked places like this. And knowing what had happened there, Dean understood that there would be a lot of blood, dirt, and many other things that he would eventually have to wash off for days.
Wednesday reacted calmly to such a creepy asylum. Holding her black case with torture tools in her hands, she calmly looked at the horrific hospital with her black eyes. For her, such places were no different from boarding houses that ordinary people visited for rest. Sam, meanwhile, was holding his phone and reading documents related to Mount Massive Asylum.
He was interested in what was happening within the walls of this hospital and what horrific experiments were being conducted there. And the more Sam read, the more he frowned. Looking up at the asylum, Sam sighed heavily. Sam's gaze was fixed on the building, which looked more like an ancient mansion, and no one looking at it would ever think about the horrors hidden within its walls.
"Well, alright. Let's go see what these crazies were doing inside this creepy building. I hope it won't be too messy," Dean said, adjusting the bag with weapons on his shoulder.
"Usually, when people say something like that, the situation always turns out to be the complete opposite. And why did you think that a riot in a psychiatric hospital could be clean? It's the same as telling a pig not to lie in the mud," Wednesday said, looking at Dean with a cold gaze.
"Yeah, yeah, gloomy girl. You're right as always," Dean said, lazily waving his hand as he approached the closed gates.
Sam looked at his brother and sighed heavily, following him. Approaching the gates, Dean raised his leg and kicked the iron gates with one blow. The iron gates flew off their hinges and crashed to the ground with a loud bang. Dean smirked, turning his head back and looking at Sam and Wednesday.
Sam rolled his eyes and walked past his brother to enter the territory of the asylum. Wednesday followed Dean and Sam, but first she looked into the security booth next to the gates. After making sure there was nothing useful in the security booth except for a video camera lying on the guard's desk, Wednesday raised an eyebrow and immediately picked it up.
"I think this will come in handy for my book. What do you think, Thing?" Wednesday said, checking the video camera.
Thing, sitting on Wednesday's shoulder, immediately gave a thumbs up, showing approval. Wednesday decided to check if the camera was working. After confirming that the video camera was working and recording, Wednesday decided to use it to record everything she saw inside Mount Massive Asylum. For Wednesday, everything happening within the walls of Mount Massive was just material for her new book, which she planned to write in the future.
And if the recorded material was bloody and cruel enough, it would definitely bring her even more inspiration for writing the book. While Wednesday was checking the camera, there was a knock on the window of the security booth. Hearing the knock, Wednesday closed the video camera and looked up, seeing Sam.
"Wednesday, are you coming? Did you find something?" Sam asked, seeing the video camera in Wednesday's hands.
"Just a camera and nothing else. It will come in handy," Wednesday said, exiting the security booth and showing Sam the video camera.
Sam looked at the video camera in Wednesday's hands and just nodded, not asking questions about why she might need it. Dean was standing with his back leaning against a stone column, waiting for Sam and Wednesday. Tired of waiting, Dean whistled, showing that Sam and Wednesday needed to hurry up instead of standing around. Entering the territory of the asylum, Dean, Sam, and Wednesday saw military armored vehicles standing at the entrance.
Dean and Sam exchanged glances, understanding that after what Alex had done, Murkoff had immediately sent an operational team to eliminate the consequences of the patients' escape. Sam thought about Alex's words when he said they needed to wait two hours before heading out. And as they got closer, they saw the corpses of operatives who had been killed before they could even enter the building. Squatting down next to one of the corpses, Wednesday turned it over.
"Judging by the condition of the face and the blood splatter, this one was killed by a point-blank shotgun blast to the head," Wednesday said, pointing at the disfigured face of the dead operative.
"Hehehe, sorry. But they started shooting first," an awkward female laugh came from above.
When the awkward female laugh sounded, Dean and Sam immediately grabbed their weapons and began looking around. Dean held the Blade of Cain in his hands, feeling a strong threat. Sam held the Colt, looking around. And at that same moment, they both looked up at the roof of the asylum and saw a pair of red eyes looking at them from the darkness with a smile that bared sharp fangs.
Wednesday stood up from her squat and also looked up. Seeing who had appeared in this place, Wednesday raised an eyebrow. Sam was about to fire the Colt when the one sitting above calmly jumped down. When the silhouette sitting on the roof jumped down, Sam and Dean saw a girl in a black military uniform with unfamiliar insignia.
This girl was Seras, who had arrived at this place before Dean, Sam, and Wednesday. And unlike her old outfit when she wore a short skirt, Seras preferred to wear pants so that no one could accidentally see her underwear. When Seras arrived at this place, she was attacked by the arriving Murkoff operatives, whom she quickly dealt with.
"Hi, Wednesday. How are you?" Seras said, waving her hand with a smile on her face, looking at Wednesday.
"Hello, Seras. I didn't think they would send you here too," Wednesday said calmly, nodding her head in greeting to Seras's words.
Hearing Wednesday's words, Seras sighed wearily and began complaining about how well she had been spending time with the other girls. Seras omitted the fact that Alex's children were also participating in this. But it didn't stop her from complaining that her evening had been ruined.
Wednesday looked at Seras with a blank gaze, letting her vent. Thing jumped onto Seras's shoulder and gently patted her on the shoulder in consolation. Sam and Dean were completely confused by what was happening in front of them. Seras seemed familiar to them, but they couldn't remember where they had seen her. Watching Wednesday and Seras's interaction, Dean couldn't hold back anymore and raised his hand to stop Seras.
"Gloomy girl, do you know her?" Dean asked, pointing his finger at Seras and looking at Wednesday.
"Ah yes. Sorry. My name is Seras Victoria. I was sent by order of Lady Integra to provide you with full support in this place," Seras said, adjusting her clothes and saluting out of habit.
"Seras Victoria… Right, I remember now. You're another one of Alex's girls…" Sam said, remembering who Seras was.
"Ahem, not a girl — a fiancée. It's different," Seras said, showing her engagement ring.
"Yeah, yeah. It's different. So, maybe you can remind us who you are? And how did you get from London to this place faster than us?" Dean said, waving off Seras's words.
"I'm a Nosferatu. And I simply flew," Seras said, pointing at her fangs.
"I guess we shouldn't ask how you flew… But I think your help might come in handy," Sam said, nodding his head.
"I won't let you down," Seras said with a wide smile, nodding her head.
Sam and Dean didn't know what Seras was capable of. But the fact that she had single-handedly dealt with a dozen heavily armed operatives already said a lot. Especially since Seras was a Nosferatu. Before Alex's return from London, Dean and Sam hadn't even suspected that Nosferatu actually existed and weren't just ancient legends.
And what they had learned about Nosferatu clearly indicated that such beings were much stronger than the alpha monsters they had encountered in the past. After all, even Enid, who lived with them, was an alpha werewolf. Dean looked at Seras and nodded slightly. Only Dean was evaluating not Seras's strength, but her appearance. And if Alex were nearby, Dean would definitely insert his usual comment about how proud he was. While Dean and Sam were examining Seras and evaluating her, Seras herself was also evaluating Dean and Sam.
And thanks to what Seras truly was, she was able to sense the power in the bodies of Dean and Sam. From Dean, Seras sensed the power of darkness inside his body, and from Sam she sensed a strange holiness that she couldn't properly explain. But who Seras was truly glad to meet was Wednesday, about whom Enid had told her a lot.
"Since we've met, it's time to go inside. Let's see what Alex has arranged there and who else is still alive," Dean said, nodding and putting the Blade of Cain behind his back.
"No one survived," Wednesday said calmly, walking past Dean and Sam.
Dean and Sam looked at Wednesday, whose words made it clear that no one was supposed to leave this asylum. Dean once again asked himself what Alex had found in a girl like Wednesday. Seras tilted her head to the side, looking at Wednesday with interest. But she calmly walked up to the main entrance and stared intently with her black eyes into the camera hanging above the entrance.
At that same moment, the doors in front of them swung open, and Wednesday entered first, holding the video camera she had found in the security booth, which had already started recording everything. Seras entered after Wednesday, and a thick smell of blood immediately hit her nose, spreading everywhere. Sam and Dean entered last. And the doors behind them immediately closed automatically with the characteristic click of a locking mechanism.
Understanding who had closed the doors behind them, Dean and Sam shifted their gaze to the hall, where the corpses of guards and hospital workers lay — those who had tried to escape but couldn't because the doors leading outside were tightly closed. Wednesday, meanwhile, was documenting everything on her video camera, which she had found in the security booth.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I want to play a game with you. Somewhere in this building is the culprit of all this. And if you want to get out…" a rough male voice came from the computer speakers in the hall.
"Cut the jokes. We didn't come here to have fun," Dean shouted, flipping off the camera.
"Ahahaha. Alright, alright, sorry. I couldn't resist. Anyway, I sent you the map of the entire asylum. You'll figure out the rest. And if the doors are closed, just make yourself another way through… And, Dean," first came Alex's laugh from the speakers, then his cheerful voice.
"What else?" Dean asked, looking at the camera hanging in the hall again.
"Go fuck yourself," Alex said as his face appeared on all the monitors, flipping off the camera.
Looking at Alex's brazen face displayed on every monitor, including the broken ones, Dean smirked and approached one of the monitors, simply knocking it to the floor with his finger. When the monitor fell to the floor, Dean stepped on it, finally smashing it, and then turned to the camera and flipped it off again. Seras, standing next to Wednesday, turned away, covering her mouth with her hand and holding back laughter.
She hadn't expected Dean to be exactly like her husband. Sam looked wearily at his brother, who was acting like a teenager at a moment like this. And once again started arguing with Alex. A moment later, Alex's laughter sounded from the speakers again, and a moment after that, Dean laughed too.
"Alright, good luck to you. And be careful. The Walrider is a rather unpleasant opponent… And Seras, your new outfit suits you. Bye-bye," Alex said, waving at the camera before disconnecting.
"We'll manage somehow," Dean said, waving his hand to show there was no need to worry.
Alex said nothing more and just shrugged at Dean's words before disconnecting. Seras smiled joyfully when Alex complimented her outfit. But at that same moment, the smartphones in Wednesday's and Seras's pockets beeped with an incoming message. Taking out their phones, Wednesday and Seras saw a message from Alex asking them to capture Chris Walker and Richard Trager with the note "Staff Recruitment."
Alex wanted to send these two to the Red City. Wednesday just nodded and added these two people to her list without saying anything else. Seras thoughtfully brought her finger to her lips, seeing the photos and files of those Alex asked to capture. Dean and Sam didn't see what Wednesday and Seras were doing; at that moment they were busy studying the map of Mount Massive displayed on the screen of one of the broken monitors.
After checking the map they had on their phones, Dean and Sam began discussing where to start. After all, Alex hadn't explained anything to them except that they needed to kill everyone in this place, including the deranged patients. And before moving forward, Sam suggested starting with the security post to gain access to the cameras and doors so they wouldn't have to ask Alex for help, who would soon be busy with his own affairs.
At the same time, Alex was still in the forest cabin, sitting at the table and looking at the tablet screen. The tablet screen showed a live feed from the camera in the main hall of Mount Massive Asylum. Leaning on his palm, Alex watched as Dean, Sam, Wednesday, and Seras headed toward the security room. Shifting his gaze to another open camera feed, Alex smiled slightly and shook his head.
After all, he saw that a period of headaches would soon come for Dean and Sam when they tried to deal with everything that would be happening at Mount Massive. But what Alex hadn't expected was Seras's appearance. At the same time, he was glad that she had come. Samantha, sitting next to Alex, opened her eyes after a short rest on Alex's shoulder and was also watching the camera feeds.
Two hours had passed since Alex had opened all the doors and the riot began. And the sun had already set below the horizon, and it was dark outside the windows. In the living room of the forest cabin, the fireplace and gas lamps were burning, providing enough light to not sit in darkness. Chris periodically approached the tightly boarded-up windows, slightly pulling back the curtains to look outside.
After Alex had said that the insane fanatics who believed in the end of the world would still come for Hannah, everyone unanimously decided to play it safe and board up the windows with planks, which wasn't difficult considering all the junk in the basement. Thanks to the mind-calming spell Alex had cast, no one was panicking, but no one was relaxing either.
And everyone was being extremely cautious, listening to the sounds outside. Only when some sound came from outside would someone quietly stand up and carefully look out the window. After another round of checking all the rooms and carefully looking out the windows, Chris sat down next to Ashley and breathed a sigh of relief.
As soon as the thought flashed through his mind that everything might turn out fine, he immediately shook his head, driving those thoughts away. The only ones who didn't care what was happening were Alex and Samantha, who continued sitting at the table and looking at the tablet screen.
"Kid, how long do we have to sit here like fish in a barrel?" Tucker asked, setting aside his can of beer and grabbing the fireplace poker.
"What's bothering you? You have beer and silence," Alex said, turning his head toward Tucker.
"I'm also curious how long we have to sit like this. And periodically run to look out the windows every time a sound of broken branches comes from outside," Josh said, getting up from the couch and starting to pace around the living room.
"As I've said many times already, we sit here until dawn, until everything settles down. Just like last time," Alex said, lighting a cigarette and looking at Josh.
"And what happened to you last time?" Dale asked, since he had heard mentions more than once about what had happened in the past.
After Dale's question, everyone exchanged glances, not wanting to remember what had happened on Blackwood Mountain — especially since Hannah, who had been part of that event, only knew the made-up story about what had really happened. And they had all agreed never to mention the Wendigo in Hannah's presence. Josh had also repeatedly said that Hannah shouldn't know about it, as it could trigger a surge of memories from that time.
And none of them knew that Hannah could not recover those memories, no matter how hard she tried or how much stressful stimulation she received. After all, Alex had completely erased those memories from Hannah's head. Seeing everyone exchanging glances, Dale began to think that he had asked an inappropriate question.
Tucker, sitting not far from his friend, stretched out his leg and kicked Dale in the shin to make him shut up and stop asking stupid questions. Dale awkwardly apologized and fell silent, feeling remorse for asking such a question. Seeing how the atmosphere had become, Alex decided to tell Tucker and Dale the same story about the maniac that they had all told the police and everyone who asked.
"Damn, kids. You got unlucky again. Second vacation, and you're in shit again. Can't envy you," Tucker said, crushing the empty beer can after hearing Alex's story.
"Well, at least I won't have to run through a snowy forest and mines to find everyone. At least there's something positive in this," Alex said, shrugging and extinguishing his cigarette in the ashtray.
"Said the guy who ran through a snowy forest in the company of a Wolverine he called Peach," Jessica said, rolling her eyes at Alex.
"And where is Peach now? Did you release her?" Chris asked with a cheerful smile on his face.
"Peach is with my sister right now," Alex said, stroking his chin.
"You gave a wild dangerous animal to your sister? Are you sure you're a caring older brother? Because I seriously doubt it," Tucker asked with suspicion in his voice, looking at Alex like the most irresponsible older brother.
Alex and Samantha exchanged glances, not seeing any particular reason for it. After all, their daughter Anya had her own dragon, Nyaruko had an entire pack of hounds that lived at the junction of space and time. Jinx and Tina had an entire army of very dangerous robots that were like pets to them. And Alessa had terrifying monsters living in her shadow that she could release at any moment.
And therefore, for Alex and Samantha, the fact that Valerie had a wolverine pet was quite harmless. Samantha also didn't see any particular problem in it, as her common sense had long been shaken by the kind of life she lived. Seeing that Alex and Samantha didn't see any problem in it, Tucker just shook his head and reached for another beer, calling the two of them weirdos.
Shrugging, Alex turned back to the tablet screen and continued watching as Dean, Sam, Wednesday, and Seras continued to delve deeper into the corridors of Mount Massive Asylum.
Time continued to pass, and another half hour had gone by as Alex continued to monitor what was happening at Mount Massive. This time, Mike got up to check everything, deciding to start with the far rooms. After checking all the rooms and carefully looking out the windows, Mike returned to the living room and approached the windows by the doors. Carefully pulling the curtain aside, Mike looked outside.
Looking out the window, on the other side of which there was only darkness illuminated by the dim light of gas lamps, Mike saw only rows of trees and bushes. Just as he was about to continue his inspection, Mike saw one of the bushes twitch slightly. Narrowing his eyes, Mike continued to watch the bush, thinking it might be a wild animal.
Seeing that nothing was happening, Mike wanted to close the curtain when he immediately noticed a pair of eyes looking at him from the bushes. Without showing any reaction, Mike closed the curtain and took a few steps back, approaching Alex.
"Alex, we have guests," Mike said in a quiet voice, trying not to make unnecessary noise.
"Are you sure?" Alex asked, turning his head to Mike.
"It's hard not to be sure when a pair of human eyes was staring at me from the bushes," Mike said, nodding and looking at Alex.
Even though Mike had spoken to Alex quietly enough, due to the silence in the living room, everything they said could still be heard. Hearing that the cultists had arrived, everyone immediately tensed up, especially Hannah, who had become their victim. Chris and Josh were about to check, but Alex raised his hand, showing that the two should sit back down.
Getting up from the chair, Alex approached the window with Mike and looked outside. Using magical vision, Alex saw no fewer than ten people hiding behind trees and bushes, clutching cold weapons in their hands. Smirking, Alex closed the curtain and nodded, confirming that the cultists had indeed arrived.
"How many of them are out there, kid?" Tucker asked, setting aside his can of beer and grabbing the fireplace poker.
"I don't know. I think I'll go check," Alex said, stroking his chin.
"Alone? Outside? Seriously?" Dale asked, staring at Alex.
"Yes, alone. I don't see any problem with that. All that's left is to take something for a pleasant conversation… This will do," Alex said, grabbing an empty whiskey bottle.
"If you want to treat them to a drink, you should have taken a full bottle," Chris said, pointing at the empty bottle in Alex's hands.
"This will be my argument in the negotiations. So don't worry," Alex said, spinning the empty whiskey bottle in his hands.
Everyone had doubts about Alex's actions. Not intending to continue the conversation, Alex looked at Samantha with a hint for her to be on guard in case someone decided to break into the house another way.
Samantha calmly nodded, showing that she could handle it. Smiling, Alex grabbed the glass bottle by the neck and swung open the doors, stepping out onto the porch. Tapping the glass bottle on his shoulder, Alex scanned the places where the cultists were hiding.
"Oi, Cunts! Stop hiding and come out to play. Don't make me wait. I'm in a very bad mood right now," Alex shouted with a wide smile on his face.
To be continued...
(So, here's a little bit of lore about Mount Massive. I haven't revealed some details yet, which would essentially just drag on for a very long explanation. But I'll reveal more over time. For now, we're moving on. And yes, I had to show Dean, Sam, and Wednesday arriving at that asylum. I won't show everything that happens there. And why would I? Everything that happens there, oh psycho, needs to be killed. Dean yells at Sam to catch the psycho, and he runs away. Sam runs after the psycho. Somewhere in the background, Wednesday is recording everything that happens on a video camera, while Seras stands nearby, unsure what to do in this situation. That's how it's supposed to go. Now I'm going to go eat. Peace, love, and if you don't understand something, start understanding it and you will understand.)
