I open my eyes, I wonder where I am.
I scout my surroundings and all I see is simple furniture, and find myself on top of a bed.
This body... did it truly belong to me? was I where I'm supposed to be?
all these questions clouded my mind.
"Hello?" I asked as I heard a reply, there was nothing. no sound whatsoever.
I was in an unknown home and in an unknown body with no memories of anything...
"Musashi..." A voice muttered as I looked around and saw someone familiar.
It was... no.. Impossible...
Mother?
"Musashi... come here." She said as I then approached the woman who seemed like my mother. I knew she wasn't my mother because... I had killed my mother.
"You're dead." I said as she looked at me confused and then gestured for me to sit next to her.
I reluctantly sat next to her hesitating. fearing for why she was there...
"You aren't my mother are you?" I asked as she smiled a bit and nodded her head.
her confusion wasn't confusion... I mistook it, she just didn't understand my words properly.
"You're right Musashi. I'm not your mother, after all your mother is dead is she not?" Said the person impersonating my mother.
"You need to let go of your hate Musashi." She said as my eyes widened.
This person was aware... so... there could only be one reasonable explanation...
"You're... You're my creator aren't you? You're the writer." I said looking at her as she just nodded.
"I understand your hate, I understand why you can't trust humans... I can definitely know why you hate this world Musashi, but I want you to do something for me... Let that hate go. You're more deserving of a better ending. pursuing that path... will only lead to despair to those who care about you." She said as I then replied.
"But what If I can't do anything but loathe this world?" My question was genuine, I needed to know... What is my purpose? what am I supposed to do?
"I'll tell you something I learned in life Musashi, You and I? we are one of the same, we lack purpose. But... as life progresses, we find a purpose Musashi. some find their purpose in kindness, others find it in being the shield to protect others, and others... they find that their purpose is to be the leaning shoulder for people. and Musashi... you can be all three. You're filled with purpose, I created you and I will never regret you. You are my best creation." She said as I replied.
"I.... I am? not Haruki..? not Dante...? not... Tsukasa? Me?" I asked in shock as I hadn't expected all this.
"You will always be the one I want to watch win Musashi. I created you because... I felt that you and I are the same. but, I wanted you to be special, I'm holding this conversation with you in your head. but I assure you, these words are real." Her voice spoke softly as she then pulled me closer putting my head on her lap as she looked at me.
"My dear Musashi... Why are you crying?" She asked.
before I had even noticed, these words she spoke... broke me.
I was crying... I was in pain this suffering I was feeling... and this other feeling she gave me.... is this her love for me?
the affectionate bond between a character and its writer is something no one would ever understand if they haven't tried writing a character themselves.
even though this story had been hell on earth... She still had love for me.
"Now Musashi... I grant you my purpose my dear. It is to always be kind to others. be the one who protects those in need... and of course, live your life the way you know you won't ever regret it. stop hating the world in which you exist in... because this world is what made me create a wonderful soul such as you."
I silently nodded as tears fell from my face, I had no response. my mouth felt zipped shut as I just cried in her lap.
her hand gentle as it caressed my hair and then whispered to me.
"I will always be rooting for you, my Musashi... Now... wake up." She said as I suddenly found myself awake back in Lona's castle.
