Chapter 264 - CHAPTER 264 - Rain Village Intelligence Leak

The Sand Federation had put considerable effort into resettling the Uchiha clan. Most arrangements were discussed and handled by Elder Kaekou and Uchiha Tekka.

After learning of Elder Kaekou's background, Uchiha Tekka, out of guilt over Kaekou Miki's death, treated him with deep respect. Moreover, Elder Kaekou's actions had reassured him. Everything proceeded strictly according to their signed agreement, with no sign of resentment toward the Uchiha despite Miki's death.

The new residential area built by the Sand Federation mainly consisted of high-rise buildings. Though densely populated, they offered excellent soundproofing and comfortable living, with high space efficiency.

The infrastructure in the expanded area was highly developed, with fully functional hospitals, shopping streets, and other amenities.

The Uchiha clan was generally satisfied with this living environment. Elder Kaekou even told Tekka that if high-rises felt uncomfortable, there were also single-family homes available.

This level of respect greatly satisfied Uchiha Tekka. Compared to how Konoha had forced them into a remote village corner, the Sand Federation—despite only interacting with them for a few days—felt more like home.

"Thank you, Elder Kaekou. We'll choose the high-rise option. Many in the clan are very interested in this style of architecture," Tekka said with a bow. He thought to himself that, as expected of the Kaekou family, even the head handled matters like Miki-kun once did.

Elder Kaekou replied with a smile, "In that case, personnel will be assigned to discuss furniture needs, compensation terms, and nearby store opportunities. Once you finish settling the clan, we can discuss the Uchiha joining the Sand Federation's Security Force."

"Understood. Thank you again," Tekka replied with a slight bow, then saw Elder Kaekou off.

Afterward, staff arrived to register the Uchiha and process the necessary formalities.

Though the high-rise complex lacked an open space for shuriken training, it had a pleasant environment—rare greenery in the desert-bound Sand Federation. Additionally, there were over thirty training grounds throughout the city, and the Kaekou Trade Association even planned to build an oasis forest.

Once Elder Kaekou left, Tekka fulfilled his role as clan head by supervising the settlement of ordinary clan members.

Since leaving Konoha, Uchiha Fugaku was no longer clan leader. Though few blamed him directly over Uchiha Itachi once they arrived, the wound still lingered. His whole family kept to themselves, and even Sasuke had lost the energy of childhood.

"Tekka… clan leader."

Uchiha Inaho approached and said quietly, "The Sand Federation really does things right. I checked just now—they're recording every reported loss and offering compensation. From what I've seen, they'll cover nearly half of our clan's damages."

"They're sincerely welcoming us."

Tekka's expression turned serious. "Inaho, since they treat us sincerely, we must not take advantage. Tell everyone—no false reports. Anyone caught will be punished severely."

"Don't worry, clan leader. We've looked into it—no one's doing that," Inaho replied, waving his hand. After all they'd been through, no one would risk everything over a bit of money.

In fact, many elders underreported their losses. Some even planned to change professions and leave business opportunities for the younger generation.

Tekka continued, "Once the clan is settled, I'll consult Elder Kaekou about joining the Federation's security force. Let the others know to be prepared."

Inaho nodded. "Got it. What about Fugaku? And Sasuke? I hate Uchiha Itachi, but Sasuke—"

"Let him go to school. The Sand Federation has a Ninja Academy. I'll speak with Fugaku myself and ask Elder Kaekou for help."

If they were to integrate into the Sand Federation, this step was essential. Sadly, Sasuke was the only school-age child among them; the others were already trained ninja.

Tekka added, "The Sand Federation is very open to outsiders, which means there are likely many spies inside. Elder Kaekou already hinted that they're severely understaffed. Our rest period won't be long."

That's the Uchiha way—treat us sincerely, and we'll return it wholeheartedly. Since Elder Kaekou had arranged everything for them, Tekka would repay the favor with earnest effort.

"If they're short on manpower, Fugaku should join too. Always sulking with that defeated look—he's disgracing the former clan head title. Inaho, find a way to tell him to snap out of it!"

With that, Tekka set off to familiarize himself with the layout of the Sand Federation—after all, this would be their new home.

On the battlefield in the Land of Rain—

After heavily wounding Juzo Biwa, Kiyo Hyuga's team immediately brought him back to the Konoha camp.

They had gathered most of the critical intel on Amegakure, and capturing a defector from the Hidden Mist's Seven Ninja Swordsmen meant they could extract valuable intelligence directly from his mind.

When Kiyo's team returned with both the prisoner and intel, Nara Shikaku and Hiruzen Sarutobi arrived at the intelligence department with surprised expressions.

Once Juzo Biwa's identity was confirmed, Hiruzen smiled and said to Kiyo, "Well done, Kiyo. I didn't expect your team to bring back such important intel so quickly. I'll make sure you're rewarded with a commendation."

"Thank you, Lord Hokage. But this was a team effort," Kiyo replied calmly, then left the intelligence tent. The Yamanaka clan would now handle intel extraction, and her presence wasn't necessary.

Not long after she exited, she ran into Kurenai Yuhi, who was waiting outside.

"All done? When's your next mission?" Kurenai asked with a teasing smile.

Kiyo looked at her—this wasn't like her usual self.

"Wait for the orders. Why are you asking?"

"Oh, nothing. Just curious about your last mission."

"That one? Hmph. We only caught Juzo Biwa so easily thanks to your Genjutsu!"

Kiyo huffed and spoke sharply, revealing that she'd already guessed Kurenai's motive. It was childish to care so much about something so trivial.

"Well, it wasn't just me. You and your teammates worked together perfectly. Anyway, I'm going to rest—hmm hmm."

Kurenai giggled and stretched in front of Kiyo, whether on purpose or not, casually displaying a full and curvy silhouette that made Kiyo glare.

"This woman…"

Before Kiyo could respond, Kurenai had turned and walked away, leaving her fuming in place.

'So irritating!!'
