A crescent moon hung in the sky, casting its bright silver light over the earth. Mandara Manor stood in silence, with only the sound of insects chirping in the grass.
Haosen strolled slowly, occasionally turning his head to look back at the small girl sneaking around behind him. Each time he turned, she quickly darted into the grass, but because her body was slightly chubby, the grass couldn't hide her completely. Even crouching in it, she was easily spotted.
Haosen's lips curled into a slight smile as he pretended to walk nonchalantly, stopping and moving at leisure. The footsteps behind him also mirrored his pace.
Soon, he entered the forest.
He quietly hid behind a large tree. The moonlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting mottled shadows in the forest. Because of the sound of footsteps, everything around was silent.
Even the sound of insects quieted down.
