Chapter 85 - Chapter 69 - The Long Hell Resurfaced

CHAPTER 69 - THE LONG HELL RESURFACED

ALDIR'S POV:

The screams that these lesser beings let out irritated me. They are nothing much but insects to us and yet many are here, not to mention…

My eye slowly looked around the castle which was filled with pure lessers with asuran blood and perhaps even powers. There were only a couple of us now left for this single assasination carried for Agrona Vritra.

It had to be continued now, to get this threat out of our lives, this traitor to our Utopia. And yet, something told me that he wasn't here. There were numerous Alacryan lessers standing up to us and even dying for some simple glory to think they could inflict wounds to us.

They are ignorant like their sovereign. I thought, cutting down one alacryan after another with ease not knowing the price that was to come.

"General Aldir, there only seems to be lessers here in the castle. Could it be that the human boy lied to us?" A dragon soldier spoke in an irritated tone. His red eyes scan the entire room filled with lessers and lessurans, and yet there was no Agrona in sight.

"There is no need for the human lesser to lie, he wins nothing out of it." I pointed a finger towards the door not that far from us–which was heavily guarded with Agrona's people. "He must be in here. Look in every corner, every small gap in this castle."

Thousands of alacryan forces rushed forwards, unlike the dragons that came with me who retreated behind me. They roared as they marched with their weapons pointed at us. Sensing my intentions, the so-called Scythes, withdrew back with fear in their eyes.

They knew they couldn't withstand the attack head on, so running is their only option of surviving.

"Find Agrona and kill him." My words dissipated into the sound of my own technique. The blast killed and injured many Alacryans which in a moment later killed without mercy.

After the aftermath of my attack, the opposite of the Lances appeared once more, this time with pride and confidence. "Well, well. It seems that the older asura isn't holding a weapon."

The one with white hair was the first to speak, later it was another with purple long hair. "He seems to be underestimating us sister, let us kill him instantly and so the rest."

Hearing these words being spit out by a mere lesser made me nothing more than sick. Yet I wasn't going to step down to their level, instead I was still concerned about something else.

I turned my attention to those away from us, more specifically, those five who stood without a care just three feet away from the gold trim around the wooden doors. Those five lessers had a different air around them, exerting perhaps a power capable of killing us the asura.

"So these are the Asuras that have infiltrated our continent." One spoke, their eyes turning to every single dragon warrior behind me and including me. "So many. So eager. And so weak."

The one lesser girl with blue short hair tried to taunt us. To me her words were nothing but a grain of salt, however, I couldn't say the same about everyone, including Windsom. I saw as he snarled at the remark these lesser beings gave with such careless behavior.

"Watch your tongue lesser. Even if I were alone your death would be guaranteed." My old friend stated, already getting a hold of his weapon.

Just before he was about to launch himself to the obvious trap, a huge overwhelming tremor overtook the battlefield.

Just like us, the alacryans searched everywhere and everything around them hoping it was on their side and yet the beings' expressions in front of the door said otherwise. This overwhelming presence wasn't with them or related to the Alacryan force, it was something or someone else.

"Lord Aldir, what is going on?" One of the warrior dragons spoke up, clearly showing the enemy that we were on the same boat.

Judging by the way everything is playing… It feels like an Asura of higher rank, someone almost toe-to-toe with Lord Indrath had ascended into this continent. Not only that but also there is a faint presence of a…

LUKE HODGES POV:

The fiery orange eyes stared at me in complete confusion and disbelief.

Well how can I say that? This person was catched on by chains that eat up the captive's mana. Rendering them weaker as time passes by.

"The worst prison for an Asura." I lightly said.

Her eyes stayed glued on me like I was an anomaly of some sorts, perhaps I was or maybe I was just the destruction of this world… No, that is thinking too highly of myself right there.

However there was one thing that both theoretically agreed on.

Why the hell was I even here for?

With that in mind, I re-activated the phase will without any restraints this time. The world once again turned black and white. And yet this time it felt different to me, the mana around me was no longer trying to help me out of its own free will, rather it felt like it was being forced to be there.

This might be the act of my imagination.

My hands touched the cold iron bars. The sensation of the cold bars brought many old memories into my mind once again. Memories of the old world, where I used to be in a certain corp.

Serving was probably the best way to say the least.

Back when I was a kid, an innocent child unknown to the tragedies of death that were left behind the horrible war that went on for three years.

Three years of my life being surrounded by countless people who I once cared for only for them to die needlessly on the battlefield.

The more I held onto the prison's bars the more they resurfaced, the long and buried memories of the long hell.

"W-What is going o-on?"

That single sentence brought me out of the daze, out of the memory I decided to throw into the abyss without a single thought, a hell which I wished I had forgotten about.

When I came to, I only looked at Lady Dawn like she was an Asura no longer.

That was in truth but also not truly reality.

She was a Phoenix. Chul's mother. She was dear to someone and I had picked up this burden to see that one friend happy for once in his life.

"Don't question anything, let's just get you out of this okay?" I lightly said with a smile on my face that did not quite reach my eyes.

With raw strength I was able to break the cell door, now the problem was the chains that wrapped around her neck and arms. It was draining her mana constantly like a dried crop. Needless to say I had to remove it without touching the chains.

[Acceleration]

 The spell activated.

The world stopped.

The motes of mana began to reveal themselves as they were ordered.

They now obeyed me without a fault.

Perhaps this was a true blessing that I was able to use this, but also a curse seeing as my mana was beginning to run dry. I still needed some mana to activate the temporal gate home, to Dicathen.

My line of sight landed on the chains. The great essence of red motes flying away from the original user was insane to me. How did she have this much mana? Was of course the question I was asking myself before managing to notice the purple motes around the red essence itself.

Whatever spell or mote was used for this, meant that there was a reason why or a way to be destroyed. Nothing in this world can be impossible or undestructive.

I must destroy this chain.

Mana surged from my core and flowed into my right hand, into the ring which I had placed on my middle finger. Then a dark reflectionless black sword appeared ready to be held by me.

Guessing my actions, the asuran gave me a quick laugh before saying, "If you think you can destroy these chains with a mere blade you are a complete idiot. I've tried it when I was at my high and not a single scratch was left on it–"

Her sentence was cut off as she saw with her own orange eyes something she failed to do.

With ease I was able to destroy the chains that binded an asura and to be honest I felt good after doing something a 'God' couldn't do.

"H-How?"

I looked at the chains, then at the blade which was covered with the purple motes, just like the chains themselves.

"I have my ways." I answered before doing the same on her left side.

There was no struggle when I sliced off the chains and much less when I removed the handcuffs with my bare hands.

"You are using something, some sort of spell or elemental affinity that I am not aware of…"

Lady Dawn continued her curiosity even though she had her mana drain for god knows how long. Then she muttered a single word that left me unable to continue my releasing of her chains. "Aether…"
