Chapter 97 - Chapter 81 - Preparations

CHAPTER 81 - PREPARATIONS

Both Lances tried to free themselves, and I only continued to watch as they struggled in vain. Lance Varay tried to use one of her ice spells but it was quickly dissolved as it was imagined. Lance Bairon was another person who had their ego too high to accept what was going on.

"H-How is this possible?!" Bairon let out in rage as he couldn't stop from catching his breath. Though I do have to give it to him, despite being one of the first beings to be under my DownForce spell, he is quite conscious like Varay. That is the Lances for you.

Varay was the next to speak. Her tone was calm but then again, she was struggling to say a word out in her current situation. "Is this how you killed Aya Grephin?" Her fingers twitched as mana began to bloom once more and then once again.

I felt my eyes react towards the Elf's name. A name being spoken by someone who didn't care about her death but rather the fact that they could die by someone. Someone like me, an irregular.

Walking away from the Lances by a few feet and then facing them again, I began to talk.

My form was still active since I was still alert in any case any other attack would strive for my unguarded moment. I went to sit down, behind me an ice chair was conjured by pure will and I just continued to follow the flow.

"So the news of the death of a fellow Lance has reached the ears of the human kingdom? Amusing at first, but it seems that not all the information was given." I let my words linger a bit before continuing. "I in fact didn't kill Lance Aya Grephin. Matter of fact, I was the one who found her before she gave her last breath in the Widow's Crypt dungeon where she fought a Retainer."

"B-Bullshit!"

"It is not bullshit, Lance Bairon. You should know this, you all should. The fact that a fabric which wasn't made in Dicathen had you, the Lances, and the council on their toes for whatever evidence you might have found about the other continent." My tone and sights were unwavering towards jumping from Lance Varay and Lance Bairon. "That should be enough."

Without any movement, I let go of Varay and not Bairon's. This took her by surprise but she recovered quickly, unlike her companion.

"I believe that you are looking for someone else because I am not corrupt in this instance." That's when Bairon's gravity prison was released from him.

However, he didn't take this as a warning, no his ego and pride as a Lance and Wykes was too big for him to let someone like me tarnish without a sweat. "You will regret doing this to me! A Wykes! A Lance!"

"And that is why I have to teach you that you are not in power, not here at least."

I stepped beside him, being away from my current position and throwing off his awareness. Lightning was already forming around him but I was faster. I enhanced my body with mana but more on my legs. Then I kicked the back of the blonde haired muscle man's knees, making him kneel and in a split second, with the help of my time-stopping ability, I had the multi-colored sword at his throat.

"I am not so merciful like the Retainers or the Scythes. This is not a warning, it is a promise. So get out of my way."

"We can't do that." Varay spoke in a loud enough voice before launching a barrage of icicles big enough to be mistaken by boulders.

[Warden]

A gigantic wall made of the ground had risen up and blocked a couple of the icicles, the rest caused some damage to the trees which were already completely frozen by her.

Before I continued with her, I once more implanted more mana into my right leg and pulled it back before hitting the arrogant Lance that I held at blank-point with my blade, sending him crashing to another frozen tree.

I was sure he would dodge that. I thought to myself, sending a wind typhoon towards the man before turning my full attention to Varay. That should keep him down for a moment.

"I was expecting you to be the most understanding of them all, you are letting me down Lance Varay." My tone was that of an instigator at a middle school before fights.

"Don't speak as if we know each other." Varay spoke in her usual dead calm tone, not breaking a facial expression.

I let out a small laugh, "I do know you, not saying that you would understand."

The ground below her blew itself cold and froze whatever life there was in the weeds and trees. I was sure this was one of her zero spells just by seeing it but I wasn't too sure.

Varay then summoned spikes of ice from below me, trying to catch me or even worse wound me to be taken to the council where I would for sure meet my end.

I held on to the air for a little longer before dispelling a barrage of water bullets and wind crescents down.

Then I activated ThunderPulse.

Appearing right behind the human Lance with lighting deviant on my left arm held in a jab I said, "This is your last warning Lance."

Varay's crystalized ice shattered–which she conjured at the last second–sending her flying a couple of feet away. The deafening sound of the close up lighting letting out its roar overwhelmed the thick three that the female Lance broke with her body.

I only watched as both Lances, the ones who are meant to fight the war and lose to the Alacryans, stayed down injured by me, a teenager that barely managed to understand my own power. It was giving me an eerie sensation that showing the two Lances that they are not the strongest warriors in the continent meant I was either going to lose this power or worse, die using this power.

Trying to wash away the feeling, I swooped away from both warriors on the ground and turned to face the cave…

"*Sigh* You guys just don't know when to give up, huh?"

I turned to where both the human lances were. This time however, stood a smaller statured man with the same outfit both Lances had. "Varay! Bairon! Don't worry I will heal you now."

Heal?

No Lance has the power to heal–

"MICA'S WORLD!"

The weight of the world was dropped on me… or at least that's what it felt for a quick second. The ground below me cracked because of the gravity spell placed on me.

The Dwarven Lances.

This is going to be a pain in the ass. I said to myself in my mind, trying to find the owner of this gravity spell. Yet, all I could find was the dark end of a mace triple its size.

Hitting me square in the face, I was only able to somewhat half-ass heal myself. It wasn't completely to what I wanted it to be but it was better than anything at this point. I had to grow with my abilities now that I was a White-Core mage. There are to be many casualties if I am not able to grow with them, both Dicathen and I will die if nothing is done.

Preparations need to be done, made.

I had to make the preparations, I was the preparation.

"Which is why you will all fail by my hand."

The sentence was loud enough for only Mica to hear it on her own even with her scream as she approached me again, mace ready to strike me once more.

[ThunderPulse]

Being next to the small Lance, I managed to catch her off-guard. Grabbing her by her hair before punching her in her stomach, rendering her immobile for the time being. Mica spat saliva before landing on the ground, it was disappointing to see her this way. I expected more of a fight if I were honest.

They perhaps had more battle fighting experience than me but I had the power their leaders have no idea about. Maybe, just maybe, the Aether that I am able to control might be the answer to all these unwinnable battles. That was my hopeful thinking but who was I to make them all understand that I was here to help and not to mean any harm?

No one. That was the answer.

"Y-You b-bastard…"

I heard Mica's voice in the background of my deep thinking.

Before I could even say anything, Stone Golems appeared. Three to be exact, one protected Mica and took her to the injured Lances while the other two tried to attack me.

I pulled out both my swords and decided to play along. One of the golems–let's call it En–struck me straight to my face. Fortunately I was fast enough to dodge it but the second golem–Ace–found me in mid dodge when it decided to hit me with both stone arms to the ground.

The hit didn't feel hard at all, perhaps from my overprotectness I had over my body at this point. I just keep forgetting I am a White-core mage.

I ignited the void-looking sword in lightning while the over-colored sword was imbued with ice.

[Magma Gauntlet]

Next, I was stricken from my rib. The heating sensation meant that Olfred had conjured his Lava Gauntlet, this Lance was ready for battle.

I stepped forward after trying to heal my injury but then again I only managed to heal a small percentage of it. My healing magic didn't work on me, not now at least, and I needed to figure out why.

Unfortunately for me, the Lance wasn't going to give me time to figure it out as he flew towards me with his hands already throwing punches.

I was able to block a couple of them but some found their way to my body, injuring and numbing some parts of my ribs and arms.

[DownForce]

The spell landed on Lance Olfred, bringing him to the ground as hard as Mica's World spell.

"Lu."

A voice said from behind me.

"Alea…"
