Brand lifted his eyes to find the royal couple staring questioningly at him. Embarrassed, he coughed lightly, clearing his throat. Did they know what he was thinking about? Were they aware of the ridiculous nonsense his mind had conjured?
"What? What is it?"
Alexander made to speak, but Lady Gwen caught hold of his wrist, stopping him. Then, "Are you well, Your Highness?" she asked instead.
He hesitated for a moment. "I am." It was the thoughts in his head that were unwell.
Presenting her resting smile, Lady Gwen turned to her husband. "He is well, and that is all that matters."
"Very well." Alexander agreed, "I shall cease my pursuit, even though he seems bashful, like a schoolboy caught fondling a maid."
Brand's eyes widened.
Lady Gwen sighed heavily, according her husband with a mean glare. "If you would allow, Your Majesty, I will make the conversations for a while."
Alexander agreed with a smile, leaning back into the chair.
